Title: Jacksonville Update thread
Post by: Minneapolisnewsman on October 31, 2006, 10:29:09 AM
Shouldn't there be one?  Well, here it is if there was not one already--Jarmo edit if need be!  Happy Halloween--you Beasts!!!  Quick question--did they sell the upper levels at Jacksonville (I ask, because it is a very large arena for concerts)?

Enjoy the show, look forward to the updates from the Halloween party in Jacksonville!!  Go Jags!

I will be there and will have a review when I wake up tomorrow.  Don't look too early because I live two hours away from Jax, so I don't expect to be home until around 5.

Ill put in my 2 cents worth on tonight's show as well. Im not in GA, but have fairly decent seats to take all the action in.

I'm over 2 hrs away so my review will certainly not be the first one to get on the boards. I expect to get home around 4-5am.

SLC is at the show, dont know if he will update the whole show or not. What ever info I get I will pass on.

Just for the sake of setting a time frame Sebastian is on now, I will not be updating individual songs by the opening acts.

Title: Re: Jacksonville Update thread
Post by: Kujo on November 01, 2006, 01:20:36 AM
LOL, oh no, no more updates! ?

If you want updates, just go and check previous show threads- The exact setlist will be in each and everyone one of them.

I do appreciate people helping out though, but threatening us with no more updates is pretty childish and comical.

I asked nicely, twice, to stop posting crap because it was getting annoying having to resubmit the frigging update 5 times everytime. Being nice didnt work.

I am keeping the list and will post it when everything is done. But since you are such a genius you wont need to read it will you?

Title: Re: Jacksonville Update thread
Post by: journey on November 01, 2006, 01:21:23 AM
There's a discussion thread for comments about the concert and setlist. This isn't the place for it. So let Kujo post updates until the show is over with. Stop dissing him for trying to help out. That's completely rude.

Dude, c'mon....
SLC is taking the time to text you every single song during the show, you should post the updates....
If the problem is really having to click reply a bunch times, you can have a locked thread at my site, and then people can discuss all they want here....
I just personally think its lame to not post the updates when SLC is taking the time to send them.....

Agreed.

I was hoping to see some new music played on this show but well... I guess I'll have to wait...
As of the setlist, it was pretty standard, the same they've been playing so far, no options, no nothing, they even played just one song on the encores... that shows that maybe they weren't inspired or something...
I don't know, it's just my opinion.

Well... Jacksonville is a nice town and all... but probably not where Axl was going to unveil some of his newest masterpieces for the first time.

My money is on MSG and the Meadowlands being the place where the band breaks out some of the "New Big Guns".

Otherwise, just grateful that tonight's show came off without a hitch. I'm sure the fans had a blast. :peace:

Title: Re: Jacksonville Update thread
Post by: kyrie on November 01, 2006, 02:34:39 AM
First, thanks Kujo. However, I think these live updates are kinda pointless at this point. Maybe for big shows like MSG or whatnot, but every show... people should just watch and enjoy, send a setlist later.

Supposedly Baz said the crowd was shit and walked offstage. Maybe it was a dead crowd and thus the short set? I dunno. I can honestly say I'd be disappointed by having so few new songs, since I saw basically that setlist minus Better and plus Madagascar and Chinese Democracy and Rocket Queen in 2002. I'm not going to gripe too much though. I've got tickets for two shows and I'm hoping by then some of those alternates like Prostitue (sic) ;) are being played.

I agree. Not that the updates are pointless(anything can happen in the world of GNR), but this constant bitching during and after the show have pretty much ruined these updates with there monotonous bullshit. You have to dig through a pile of shit just to see whats happening at the show.

When a band , performers put on a killer show that mezmorises, and after the fact you walk out of that performance feeling blown away, you tend to forget what you expected, caue you were drawn in and had a blast.

Im sure all that were at the show had a fucking blast!

any review of the show???

Here's mine....It likely wont be as detailed as many would prefer:

Just making it to the stage before Halloween came to a close, Guns n Roses provided many treats to those in attendance.

Axl Rose appearing on stage in horns (possibly to acknowledge his persona) was enough to keep fans in the spirit even past the stroke of midnight.

That sight alone, made the cheesy Wal-Mart bought inflatable d?cor thrown together forgivable. The man himself felt it was necessary to announce during the show that he was not responsible for picking it out.

The technical and theatrical competence demonstrated on stage proved that this incarnation of GNR is as deserving as those previously accepted. And was it just me, or were their hints of Lynyrd Skynyrd's ?Free Bird? thrown into the piano solo?

The Gunners played a solid two hour set. All the standards were represented with a couple of new songs mixed in to justify the ?Chinese Democracy Tour? label and merchandise being sold.

Some may say that attendance was disappointing. The upper level was closed off and people were relocated to fill in the lower sections. But when considering what the rescheduling put people up against, I think those that could show up did in a big way.

The show went off with out a hitch and there were no tricks to be played?unless you count the way many might feel when they get up in the morning and try to go about their daily routines.

thank you for those who updated (or tried to) and the review above.  genuinely appreciated.

Seriously hope that in the future if there are to be updates (by kind people who are taking the time to keep us up to date, no personal gain whatsoever) - that once the full set list is in - then it can be just stuck on to the setlist and notes section and any discussions can be in separate discussions threads.

cant see any other way that some people will keep their wingeing mouths shut.

at least see the band before you offer your dissatisfaction with a show you werent even at...COME ON.    Its pretty laughable to criticise a show you werent even at.  it's not fair to criticise a band's choice of songs as you have no idea what they are feeling whilst performing or how they are guaging the crowd's reactions.

Locked.

I still don't get it. We've made it clear so many times now, but some of you will never follow the fucking rules. There's a discussion thread (4 threads down) but why posting there when you can make things more difficult for us and the people who are trying to give US UPDATES by posting here?

First of, thanks guys for doing the updates. ?: ok:

Secondly, I tried being nice and asked people not to ruin the UPDATE threads with stupid shit. That didn't work.

For anybody who can read, you will get banned from here for that. I'm not interested in cleaning up your mess every show day because you have to come here to whine, bitch and moan.

I'm just gonna make sure you stay out of this place from now on.

You've had your chances, you just wouldn't listen.
