I guess he talks about alot of interesting stuff inclusing that Josh Abraham wasn't a? guitar guy and Slash felt uncomfortable recording with him in the studio...? I didn't? listen to it but I was reading about it on another forum.

i'm so happy that Slash said that, what i'm trying to say is that, Slash thinks the way i think, and the way i thought when i first listened to Contraband, the guitar riffs are killer ect... But, since day 1 i didn't like the mix... is very clear what Slash said, Josh didn't know how to work with guitars, for example the Illegal I solo with the talk box, so at least what we know is that the next record will HAVE the unique sound of Slash  :)

That would be a major leap forward. The thing I missed the most on Contraband, besides decent vocals naturally, was the classic Slash influence dripping from every song like ice in Sahara.

i've never been a fan of wiland but his vocals are good on contraband just as the guitars, drums etc, however, as stated before the mixin of these songs could have been way better

Is there a transcript of this somewhere?

Not a transcript but here is a recap from another board..

"the highlight would probably be Slash mentioning that VR is absolutely a democracy because no one would allow anyone else to tell someone what to do and the stuff talking about Josh and the making of Contraband. However, what I also found interesting was the stuff about Slash's BMX days and his childhood/family history. Basically the stuff with Josh is that he mentioned that the whole thing was pretty much more or less recorded live, but he disliked the process, since Josh didn't have the right setup for really recording guitars. And then Slash says something to the effect of that they chose Josh because he would just let them do their thing, he was just there to sort of facilitate and do the actual recording. He mentions about Rick Rubin and how they were all really excited to record with him, they talk about Rubin's track record, and how Slash has known him since '86. He likes old KISS but not new KISS...but at first he hated it, but he gives KISS credit because Steven used to crank it and they used to play to it. And they guys asked him to play guitar for them, since they had a whole bunch but Slash declined since he'd just gotten there from rehearsal/practise. The rest of the interview really does go downhill...but the interesting other bits are that Slash lost his English accent early because he was picked on for it, his parents met in Paris. His dad had had a falling out with his grandfather and that's when they moved to LA when he was around 4. He goes on about life in Stoke and how to get out is a big accomplishment. His dad was one of three boys and he was the artsy one that got out of Stoke and went to art school. And how some of his relatives have never been to London and he's caught up with some of them via the 'net. They talk about thier parents' careers and what they did, like how Anthony, his dad, was a graphic artist and did Joni Mitchell and Neil Young stuff and how his mom, Ola, did Bowie stuff. He goes onto some interesting anecdotes about avoiding the police while BMXing in a gang of BMX kids and how he met Steven and how they would go to Steven's, cutting class to play all day. And that was the extent of the things that really pertained to Slash. They got WAY off tangent. Oh and his cat Habib/Hapbib? has been missing since April. "
