GnR has been gone too long, and needs to re-establish its fan base first and let people know that the band is alive and well.
Personally, I can't wait for the album - I love the leaks, I've seen the band live, and I couldn't be more ready for the album to come out. I sincerely hope it's a huge success, as it will likely deserve to be. On some level, though, CD will be about re-establishing the GnR fan base and building momentum towards the rumored "other albums" that Axl has been putting together to possibly follow CD.
