Title: Guns N' Roses & Wikipedia
Post by: GeraldFord on October 22, 2006, 11:54:35 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Democracy

It says that 11/13 is "confirmed." Anyone can edit it, but has anyone here heard a 11/13 date? Also, the enty seems pretty fair, can anyone here add to it, any mistakes?

Title Change by Ignatius - From now on, all the info about Guns from wikipedia, will go here.

As far as I know this article is edited by the readers, nothing official. As they say beware what you read on the Internet. Including this post.

Thats not confirmed but i believe it. somebody said their record company tried to get gnr to play there the night of the release but they couldent cuz they were going to canada to tour (canada tour starts oct 15th) so the 13th has been my guess all along. i relize that could be complete bullshit, but it makes alot of sense to me.

about wikiepdia, take anything off there with a grain of salt. its good background information, but dont get into an argument with anybody over info found there, or try to pass wikipedia info off as 100% fact because its all user written. Still a great site tho. : ok:

It used to say The album has been rumored to have a "firm release date" of November 21, 2006 so something has changed.  But then again, anyone can make edits.

It's Wikipedia - I could change it to say that Bill Clinton produced the album and that Axl Rose died 12 years ago and was replaced by a robot named Cindy if I felt the urge.

Obviously minor details like the subject of this thread shouldn't be taken as the holiest of all holy truths, but it's usually fairly obvious when a page is being abused and the reputation of the website shouldn't suffer for it.... it is one of the best things on the internet.

Title: Don't you just love the morons at Wikipedia?
Post by: Verse Chorus Verse on October 25, 2006, 11:05:35 PM
"It is noted that Axl's voice has improved significantly during the mid part of 2006. Performing at the Leeds Festival in 2002, Axl's voice was weak and somewhat out of tune. This was also the case at the 2002 Video Music Awards performance. However subsequent performances in the 2006 tour have shown a clear improvement in his vocal abilities, and Axl now has skills comparable to those he possessed during the late 1980s and early 1990s, when the original Guns N' Roses were operational. There has been speculation that Axl may have had a successful throat surgery to "fix" his voice [citation needed]."

Where the fuck did this "rumor" originate from? I haven't heard it before.

Well I've been reading post on this board since 2001. And I've noticed most REAL news that is important is from other sorces other than this board. So maybe it is true.

Wikipedia means nothing - ignore it.

No No No, Axl took a four year break so that he could grow his braids long enough for a pony tail and get rid of them damn hair extensions.

So if I make a Wikipedia edit that says Axl was spotted flying into Tampa on his magic carpet you would believe this to be true?

Please tell me what REAL news means. ?As far as I am reading the word "speculation" does not indicate real news. ?

Like I said to you in the OTHER thread about wikipedia.... it doesn't "mean nothing" and there is tons of useful information on it... also it is often fairly obvious when something is biased or written by some jerkoff (in this case for example).

You can go into  Wikipedia article and change the content. If someone puts bogus info in the article, someone who is reading it who realizes this can correct things.

Err, I would touch on this but what's the point?

Keep using Wikipedia for breaking GNR news. ?I will be sure to put some interesting edits on there later so you can be in the loop ::)

And below the knees.?

I just removed the throat surgery thing since there is NO citation for this.

As far as I am concerned this is somewhat true, no need for silly rumors to be posted on there unless someone has a source.

Yup and you can quote him saying "Crikey" as well. :hihi:

But seriously, for the most part it is edited with what people believe to be true information.  It's up to you what you choose to believe.

who added this???

In a recent turn of events, Axl has postponned the album's release to add a new guitarist to the project...unfortunately, this guitarist has yet to be born. Currently the album is slated for a November 2027 release.

good show!
