Here Today... Gone To Hell!

I am starting to believe Merck when he states that the CD will pop up in stores before the end of the year.

It takes guts to drop and release the CD that way but hell this is GNfR, anything goes.

I can't wait any longer the suspense is driving me nuts. I already told my wife that I will pick up the CD on whatever Tuesday and just wait till everyone is asleep (I will just look at it for as long as I could without listening) and take a drive and listen to the CD one way and when its ends turn back home and listen to it a second time. The stereo in my car rocks and I can't wait to blast the %^*#ing CD once and for all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My patience is almost running out.  Very close.

I am about  done as well. I'm afraid Baltimore on the 13th will be my last GNR show. I can't wait to go, and I am taking a mom and a girlfriend who have never seen the band, but it will be the third time I've seen this set, and unless CD comes this year, I just can't justify the price anymore. I really want CD, and can't wait to hear it, but it's been long enough.

I have seen the old lineup a few times in the late 80's and 90's but not the new lineup.
I'm waiting till after the CD is released and I wanting to really rock out with all the unheard new songs.

With GNR you need a hell of a lot of patience.

You must have a shit load of patience if you can have the cd in your hand and not play it until everyone goes to bed!!!!  I still don't think they will put it in stores without promotion. If that were the case, I don't think Merck would have said anything, so it would have been that much more of a surprise.

You also hope to get something in return for your patience and we ain't seen shit.

Im giving them until the end of the year, and if its not released or if we dont have a release date then im done with this band.

Axl said it would be out and if he screws the fans on this then Im not surpporting him any longer.

I can't wait to hear it all...and this new track we are hearing about "Sorry" sounds pretty fucking cool...but yeah...I hear ya with the patience...I am running on empty like the rest of you...

As much as I love Guns N' Roses I agree with you. Yes, I will listen to the old songs but I will never again defend/support Axl Rose or the current band.

I agree with you 100%. ?I went to the Hammerstein shows, and I live in Saskatchewan, thats a long f'n way. ?Loved every minute of it. ?Now they are playin in Edmonton, just a couple hours away, and I'm not even thinking of going. ?If CD drops I will change my position, but until then I'll just keep lurking here and remembering how cool it was to rock out to GNR right next to Mickey Rourke and Shannon Elizabeth.

I am with you guys. I have been made fun of for being a gnr fan and that is pretty damn lame. I mean this is a bad ass rock band not N Sync or some shit. I have waited since 1993 to see them and I have had tickets to three shows and they have all been cancelled. (including Nashville last Sunday) If this doesn't work out this year I am moving on.

Funny, I'm the same way here... from NY, went to two of the hammerstein shows, and I didnt even consdier going to the MSG show coming up.... why see the same set AGAIN, at a bigger venue?  I guess I'll regret it a bit if Axl picks that night to drop the release date... but whatever.... same setlist, i'm ZZZZZZ

I am in the exact same boat. I went in 02, and to the Hammerstein show on 5/12 this year. I bought tickets for Cleveland again last month thinking for sure we would have something new by then, but I have a sinking suspicion it might be the 3rd time I see the same show. I will be seriously bumming if thats the case, as I am not sure I would have plopped down another almost 200 bucks for 2 tickets to see the same show for the 4th time.

I hope this isn't the start of a trend.? It's understandable that a lot of people's patience is wearing thin, but it's been wearing thin for so damn long now that I don't know if a few more months is really that bad.?

I feel like we are on the verge of something happening.? Even if everything falls through, I've invested enough time and energy into this band that - as disgusted as I may become - I doubt I'll be able to throw in the towel.? It's just not realistic.?

I've been a HUGE fan of Guns for YRS. Before I moved to Canada there is no way I could ever see guns since i'm originally from ME. In 2002 I was SUPER busy with school and I missed the Toronto show... Now I have tix for the show in Nov, but honestly the way things are turning out, having followed the Euro tour closely, I almost dont even want to go to the show.....Thinkin about sellin my tix. Because everything is so super predictable and my tix were super pricy. I'm almost more excited seein Baz... :no:

You konw when they went on tour in 1991 they didn't even have the Illusion cds come out yet but they started their tour in May or June ...

they never said when the cds would come out either..

Sept 91 the cds dropped if I remember right..


We turn to 2002, they appear again with a Buckethead as one of the gutarist...Axl didn't promise when the cd would come out...

2006, 4 Warm up shows in NYC...no idea when the cd comes out..they go to Europe..no mention of cd release.
They do some west coast shows..no talks..
they delay the fall tour by 2 dates..nothing about cd release..

The rumors of November 13, 21..the cryptic message about 13 Tuesdays left of th eyear..

Far as I can guess..December 26th..the day after Xmas...could be the release date..that way they can honestly say they have the #1 record of the start of 2007.

I think it is clear to pretty much anyone who is a long time fan of the band that the circumstances surrounding each situation are so different it is not even a valid comparisson.

They at least had singles out in 91

First of all, they've been saying that it's going to come out this year for several months now. ?Axl went on Trunk's show and said "Late Fall" and Mark has been saying that it'll be out this year, and press releases have said this year.

Second, when GNR was touring in 1990 and 91, they were playing the stuff that was going to be on the UYI albums. ?They switched up the set lists pretty much every night. ?Right now, we're getting basically the same songs every show and they're only playing a couple of songs off the new album. ?

Some people have argued that they can't play the new stuff cause then it would get all over the internet. ?That's fucking bullshit! ?How many people do you know that are casual fans that have downloaded any of the band's live stuff? ?The only people they're screwing over are the hardcore fans that will (a) listen to the new songs and encourage concert goers to get into the new songs cause some people know them and (b) will definetly buy the new album when it comes out so there's no money loss. ?And besides that , Axl's belief that Appetite is the only 'real' GNR album is screwing over any fan that wants to hear UYI songs. ?I'm sorry but 2 covers , YCBM, and November Rain don't properly represent the UYI catalog of like 30 songs. ?I'm really getting sick of hearing Appetite's 2nd rate (not that they're bad, they just aren't the best) songs like It's So Easy, Mr Brownstone, My Michelle, Think About You, Out Ta Get Me. ?They should rotate at least those 3 (plus the 2 covers) [Don't read eliminate, read rotate] with new songs and with some UYI stuff like Civil War, Estranged, Yesterdays, or any non-singles that were also good (I'd love to see Locomotive or Coma but that's just fantasy).

I can see where you are coming from. But for me personally, it's just been long enough. No, Axl Rose does not owe me another song, ever. But to lead people on, to make them promises and not keep them, and to keep everyone in the dark? I'm not following Jesus or God here, this is Axl Rose. And quiet frankly, I'm tired of having my chain pulled.

Until they release some original music people are going to refer to them as a "glorified cover band". Once CD is released, people will srat taking them more serious.

What is a promise Axl has made that he hasn't kept yet?? He hasn't said anything. He hasn't had a chance to release the album yet this year and already people are giving him shit for it.  There is still 2 more months in the year.

EDIT: And to reply to the person that said, "Until CD is released people will only consider them a cover band..."  Speak for yourself.  I can speak for myself and for most of the people on this forum, that we don't think this is a cover band, not in the least bit. So YOU think this is a cover band and maybe a few others, but you won't find very many people at all in this forum that will agree with you.

All I can say to you, is read the title of the thread. If you can find patience and actually wait until the album is released LATER THIS YEAR, you won't be going anywhere.

I see where you are coming from but im not bitching myself. Do I wish they would change the setlist up some?? of course I do. Would it stop me from seeing them if they play the same setlist everynight?? No it wouldnt.

It does get old to see people bitching in every thread about the setlist, but I can also see where these people are coming from. Like I said in another thread earlier, I just wish they would play more UYI songs, mix it up a bit more. Thats how they did on the UYI tour and it was fucking awesome. You never knew what you were getting. On the other hand though, they havent toured the States since those 12 dates or whatever in 2002, so for the majority of the crowd this setlist is not a problem. So I guess I see it from both angles, as a hardcore fan like most of the people here, and from the casual fan.

You're right, if CD is out this year then of course I won't leave. Let me set the date to January 1st 2007.

I agree with you to some extent, that the band might be getting tired of playing the same songs. One might say they are just happy to be out touring and to not being held up in the studio or doing absolutely nothing waiting for Axl to be ready go. But at some point they will get sick of playing the same songs and I'm sure they are just as excited as all of us for this album to come out because then they can start playing more of the songs that they helped write. I bet they can't wait until they are playing 8-10 new songs from the album. The show will probably just be that much more intense.

Honestly, I dont look at them as a cover band. They have been together for a LONG time, so I consider them a band. I was speaking more from the general publics view of them. Most people going to the shows only know the singer, Axl Rose. We know the whole band, and have for years, so to us they are a legitment band, but to most casula fans who havent kept up with them they look at them as a cover band. Just some hired musicians playing GNR songs while Axl sings.

Thats why I want CD to get released ASAP, so the band can get the recignition they deserve.

My first ever post, I've been visiting this board ever day for ten years. Obviously, Big GNR fan. I agree the album is just gonna pop up in stores. The first album to ever just show up. It will happen at the end of the year, when everyone is bitching about no announcement or news. This will be brillant and be the greatest selling album of all time.

Anyways, the reason I said 2nd rate (which I cursored with "not the best") is because they don't have the same popularity as SCOM, Nightrain, PC or WTTJ. ?They could get away with playing just those 4 songs off of appetite and most fans wouldn't notice the difference.

I personally, and I can probably speak for at least a percentage of people, would like to see more UYI in the set. ?There are plenty of GOOD UYI songs that I'd rather hear then most of the Appetite songs that were played.

I think people are on edge because Axl has said CD is coming this year, actually late fall, which makes Dec. 19 the last possible day of release to keep his promise, and yet we haven't heard anything. I think maybe people are a little afraid this is gonna be 02 again, so they are preparing themselves for it. As it gets closer to the end of the year, patience is gonna disappear at a rapid rate.

Nothing wrong with Dec. 26, except winter starts Dec. 22. On the Trunk interview, Axl said fall, late fall. Dec. 19 is the last Tuesday in the fall. That's all. Dec. 26 is not bad, because a ton of people go shopping the day after Xmas to get good deals and cash in gift cards.

I have been waiting for emm 6 years or so. I can wait a year or two more!

Being a fan doesn't mean loving everything they do.  If they play a shitty setlist or the show goes otherwise badly, fans have a right to be disappointed. 

You can jerk off to Axl playing old songs all you want but most of us here are getting frustrated with the poor communication, long delays, and general disrespect that the band and management has given us.

I've seen the new guns 3 times, twice in 02 and once at hammerstein in 06.

Lame is all i can say, all 3 shows were pretty much the same setlist and had all the same problems. ?Sick of waiting 2 hours or more after the opening act for him to get his ass on stage and getting home at 2am. Tired of being able to predict every song and every lame guitar solo. ?And most of all, i'm sick of going to the concert and not being able to hear the vocals as axl keeps his mic on low and is always drowned out by the music. ?I'm not going to spend a couple hundred bucks for tickets to hear drunk guy next to me singing the songs in my ear cus I can't hear axl.

I'll buy the album when it comes out but i'm done with the concerts until things change.

there's no way that the album will just drop in stores out of the blue...why?  Because there are no more stores to drop it into...

Tower Records, Wherehouse, Sam Goody, Musicland...all gone.  Where are they going to drop it?  Starbucks?  Maybe Best Buy...but how many people going in for a flat screen TV are going to swing by the CD racks and grab GNR on an impulse buy?

There's only so much promotion itunes and amazon can do.  There will be advance notice...

In all seriousness, I'm not really sure where you live, but there are still a ton of places that sell CD's. Best Buy is probably the biggest. There are two stores in one of the malls near me that I know of.  A lot of people go to Wal Mart for their CD's. Circuit City is another big one near where I live. Record Exchange always has new albums in when they come out. Quonset Hut is another one that I can think of off the top of my head. Do I really need to keep naming places that sell CD's?? There are also a ton of independent stores around that sell new CD's. But you're right, there really isn't anywhere for them to put out the album. Why should they even release it then if there aren't anymore stores that will sell them??  Oh my, oh my... Guns N' Roses is in trouble now. "Good luck finding a store to put the new album in Axl. Don't you know that nobody sells CD's anymore?? DUH!!!"

I'm excited to be going to this concert, especially since i am taking  two people who have never been before. I was just stating that after this concert, i will have seen this set 3  times, in 2002, NYC, and on november 13th. I just dont know that I could pay for tickets again unless we got the album. I'm not jaded or upset, just can't justify the money after this next show. If CD comes out, and we get a set with a lot of new songs, it will be different. I am very excited for the album, since I have been waiting a long time like all of us have. I just hope it sees the light of day.
