Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Right so we've been waiting. Thats obvious. When CD finally drops how are you going to go about getting your hands on it first (im assuming it doesnt get leaked btw) and where/when are you going to listen to it? Are you taking the day/week off work? Lets get some heart warming stories out!!!
Im planning to preorder it but also head out to the nearest record store and pick one off the shelf, because i have to make sure i get it asap and I want to savour the sight of it on the shelf but not for much longer i'll hope. Then I'm going to take it down to the riverside (I live in Surbiton UK, near the thames) and pop it on without any disruption. Just me and CD. Then im going to cry. :'(

Probably go to my local record store and bring my disc man, buy it, walk outside, open it and pop it in and blast it as loud as it goes...

i'm buying it sticking it on my ipod then playing it over the PA at the pub i work at if i'm at work (if i'm at work on the release day)

Buy it. Drive home. Put it in the CD player. "give myself alittlebit of volum" and open a Newcastle Brown.

Goto a midnight release, play it in my car on the way home, listen to the rest at home.. Pull the trigger & take the following day off from work : ok:

I dont know...maybe I'll drive home, dark my room and put it in the stereo and listen to it loud!!

Goin to go right to the closest place availible to buy cds, probably cuircuit city . Buy a couple of copies, stare in awe at it, return home, if Im supposed to work that night, Im calling out. Im gonna put it on, hit play, from start to finish, and repeat probably about as many times as I can in the day. And really listen to it.

I will put it in a CD player and press play. Then I will wait a second until the wonderful sound starts to come out of the speakers. THAT is how I will listen to CD. FUCK, I was just thinking, it's going to be great to have the album but at the same time it's going to be so surreal. We've waited for so fucking long and then it will be like, "Now what do we wait for??"  Can anything else even compare to the excitement and build up for the release of this album?? It's like everything that comes after this COULD never amount to what we have gone through for years and what we are going through right now. This album is going to mean a lot to all of us, JUST BASED ON THE FACT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO MANY FUCKING YEARS!!

EDIT: The question, "Now what do we wait for??" isn't supposed to be about life in general. I hope everyone has continued on with their life as normal, while waiting for this album.  The question refers to GN'R, not life.

I'm gonna be working on release day or else I'd say get some drinkage or something else.... Maybe some poppy tea. 

Hopefully it will leak and I'll get it after my shift and do the same.  Or I'll just have to hold off until after my shift. 

Most likely, come to work, go at lunch to Virgin @ Union Square. Come back, pop it in, repeat play all afternoon. Add it to the Ipod, play on the subway ride home. Go to the gym, still repeat on Ipod. Come back home, eat dinner, play on home stereo till bed.

Wake up, repeat. For about 4 days.

I'll probably look for a new job, consider grad school, myb get married, start a family..  :hihi: Start investing in a 401k.. ??Move ahead with my life, all the things I should have done the past 10 ?years or so..

I'll probably be working (cuz I work ALL THE TIME), so what I'll do is ask to work from home that day. ?I'll steal my daughter's cd player from her room, set it up....somewhere....that's gonna be the difficult part. ?I might just sweep everything off the desk and on to the floor. ?I NEED ROOM! ?

So then, I will put the disc in, sit down in my executive leather chair, close my eyes and listen to the whole damn thing. Then I will take out the packaging and listen again, while looking at the lyrics and whatever else comes with it.

At some point in the day, I might actually work, but first things first.

I'm gonna buy it as soon as I can... Then I'm gonna go to wherever I can listen to it the loudest, and listen to the whole album.  Maybe my girlfriend's dad's house.  He likes stuff like that anyways, and he's got a huge ass stereo in his house.  (my g/f like GNR, too, so it will be cool) :)

I WILL however take the day off work. I mentioned this in another thread but I have 2 paid vacation days left for the year, so I will be getting paid for that day. Then I will take off for the Cleveland show. After the dust settles though, and the concert is done and the album has been released and listened to 1000 times, it's back to school in January.  :(

IF we know the release date far enough in advance, I'll take the day off, pick it up at the local record store when the open, and pop it into my car's CD player with great haste. ?I will probably NOT leave the parking lot until I am well into the album and then I'll tool around and listen for a bit before heading home and traumatizing my 3 small children with far too many decibels of (very probably) completely inappropriate (for their young minds and ears) music...or I'll send them to their grandma's house for a bit, and only traumatize my wife.

If we DON'T find out the release date until just a few days before....I'll probably just leave work early and hit up a completely different record store, pick up my copy, and will listen on my ride home (which is an hour +).

How are we going to feel after we have listened to it? There is gonna be one hell of a come down regardless of how good it is. Anticipation like this always leaves you wanting-no matter what is delivered. When the last blips of sound filter from the album into my mind, its gonna be a weird feeling no?

That will probably be the greatest one hour drive home from work EVER!!

Definitely listen to it on the way home from the store. Then into the 300w/channel NAD system over my Canton Ergo 900s. ?;)

I'm gonna go running franticaly to the record store and get one copy. I'll think: "Is this for real yo??" Then I'll blast it as soon as I get home really loud so that the whole neighbourhood knows that Guns N' Roses got a new cd. yes yes, something like that.


 

Hmmm....top 5, at least.  Probably top 3.  There have been some very, very, very good rides home from work.  And nothing will eclipse #1 and #2, so....

Neither #1 nor #2 have anything to do with sex, actually.

#1 has to do with a health scare pertaining to my son late last year.? ?Without going into WHERE I work, suffice to say it's a world class health care facility and that particular day's ride home will never, ever be topped.....because he was riding home with me.

#2 has to do with finding out I was going to be a dad, for the first time, on my way home from work.? ?Again, that one will pretty much be unable to be topped, ever.....

#3 is the day after the Hammerstein show on May 15th.....my car was still parked basically at work...so even though my work day had technically ended about 18 hours+ previously, I say it still qualifies as the ride home.? :)? This one MIGHt get supplanted by a ride home with the recently released CD in the scenario talked about above.

im going to buy it, put in in the cd player in my truck, and listen to it at maximum volume until i reach the baber.  At which point i will have my hair cut to about 5 inches.

Buy it, stare at it for a few minutes in the car soaking it in. Tear off the plastic, put it in my CD player, Drive around and listen to it a few times.

Im gonna start with the leaked songs first and save the unheard songs for last.


Get home and sit down on my bed and pop it in the CD player and listen while reading lyrics/booklet


Rip the entire CD into my Mp3 player.

Go run about 5 miles while listening to the album over and over. : ok:

My friend and I are getting CD.  Then, we're going over to his house, turning up the volume pretty damn high.  THEN, make a bowl of popcorn, extreme buttah, and then we're going to clap and laugh all high and mightily after every solo/song...not even joking.

Once we know a release date I will be calling the record store I go to.

Hopfully to find out it will be released in Brazil the same day. I will take off the day the store has it for sale and go up a few copies (a few of my cooks want a copy too). Get in my car and crank it, when I get home open a beer a beer or a dozen and listen till I pass out. next day listen to it on the way to work, listen to it on the way home... you get the idea. It's going to be awsome! it's been a longtime comming.

Oh man I can't wait for the "This is the worst album ever" to "This is 10X better than Appetite" topics! I will buy it, read through the cover/booklet, place it on my iTunes, then uploaded on my ipod. When I can have an hour or so to myself I am going to sit down and just listen to what I have been waiting for for aover 10 years.

I'm going to listen to this baby all the way home from the record store LOUD!!. then it's going on my I-POD and I'll listen to it over and over at work. I'm lucky my boss has no problems with I-PODS I know of a lot that do. Just wish Axl would release the damn thing.

I'm going to take a day of from work, buy CD, run home, turn cell phone off, smoke some pot and listen CD for the whole day.

Well I'm going to get the album, then when I get home I'm going to sit in my room and wait for around 4 hours then I'll start to play it......
after about an hour I will start to take photos of my stereo and throw coins at it also.......and then i will stop it playing before the CD has finished and turn my lights back on......

I once overheard a man who worked at a mom and pop guitar store that (the guy grew up in the 60's) when he bought a new Beatles album that he and his friends would put it on the player and listen to each track for about 20-30 min. each.  He said they would do that so they felt that after listening to each track they taken away as much from the song as they could.  So my first listen to CD could take a few hours, but that is how i think I will do it.

THis calls for some serious alone time. My plan:
if it's a midnight release, bus over to the local mall, loiter around until they are for sale. Subsequently, pop into CD player.Catch the bus home.
Go to room, lock door, unplug trelephones and machinery. Blast said CD. Close eyes. Jam.
Subsequent listen, read the lyrics along with the songs. Read every piece of wording on CD booklet.
Repeat listen, jam etc.

I'm gonna pop it in the stereo, smoke some weed, and lay down on a pillow and listen to the whole thing.  Yeah its been over 10 years of waiting, but a lot of the time I wasn't constantly thinking about the band just every now and then.  Now I think about them all the fucking time.  This is a good build-up alright.

? ?I've been thinking about this for a good looooong while now,as a lot of us have. First,if we actually get a release date and not having it just "show up" (which I've said for years that is possible),I will take the day off of work.

 My older brother and best friend will be going with me to Best Buy or somewhere if it's on sale at midnight. I think I will document the entire trip to the store and me picking up the actual Cd (this is a cool thought-we're so close!)and watching me walk to the register,etc. We're talkin' about a camcorder and a digital camera. Might buy one to listen to now and maybe one to keep.

 What happens next...I'm not sure. I don't think I could even FATHOM the thought of waiting to get the fuck home to hear it and instead ripping it open and playing it really loud in my brother's kick ass car stereo until my fuckin' ears bleed.

It sure will. Rather, when the first notes ring through the speakers, well thats what i think anyway. It will be surreal. Quite a journey coming to this point.. As I reflected in other threads, people who have been waiting for this album, whether it has older fans since the day "Spaghetti Incident" was released, or people who grew up listening to Guns in the mid-late 90s, or early teens in the new millenium getting into music.. It's been a long journey for everyone, but it's been a part of our lives, and when that cd finally comes out..it will be a mixture of joy and sadness and disbelief

I will listen to this thing for the rest of my life. I've been waiting so long that its starting to hurt. I like these new songs and hoping theres more good songs on CD and if there is it'll be hard to find me for a few days. My gf is gonna be pissed because she hates gnr but i dont give a fuck. I'm listening to this album all I want for the first couple of days. Than I'll come down a little and only play it when she's around if I'm pissed off at her.  :smoking:

I think I'll be daisy-chaining  every available stereo and speaker in the house, so that my neighbors will have no choice but to enjoy the album too. It'll probably only add up to a couple of thousand watts but I reckon that's enough to spread the word, face-melt style.

But after I receive the restraining order I'll probably dip to the jacuzzi, absinthe IV drip, and slip into a deeply meditative GNR coma - in preparation for the iPod, fm transmitter, car stereo and nationwide terrorization.
