In GNR land, a Rolling Stone article about the band is being silenced. Why would they actually let GNR news out to the ?public tomorrow? This shit is mind-boggling. ?::)

I'm kinda hoping for a new song or two (off CD, not just some UYI material) at the actual show on Tuesday, but I'm not expecting anything before that.

christmas aint no surprise, at least not to me.. i always know when i will get my presents, i have been told that christmas is at 24 december so it isn't just a surprise day that can come whenever.. i thought it was like that in all of the world..

Well the HD ad said the one with better would be up at the end of October. October is almost done.

Some point very soon I expect them atleast to acknowledge Better as the single because I tihnk it will tie in with the ad.

I keep refreshing hoping for some sort of announcement today.  I kinda know better though.  My guess is no announcment today, nothing tomorrow or during the show.  Then come Friday or something, we get a press release.

Maybe I'm alone on this thought, but if CD just appeared on shelves out of nowhere, without any announcement, half of the excitment would be gone for me I think. Don't get me wrong, it would be great to have the album, but I would just feel as if the band were selling themselves so fucking short without promoting it or anything. The 'suspense' building up to the release date (if we get one soon) is half the fun. I KNOW this would never happen, but hypothetically speaking, if it did, I would be happy and a little disappointed at the same time. I want to see them promote the shit out of this album.

Yeah, a couple of days ago, you couldn't get any tickets except for nose bleeds, now you can get good tickets all of a sudden.  Maybe more were released and/or some tickets were returned, who knows.  Although this show did seem like one of the few US shows selling well.  I guess we will find out tommorrow.

I can't wait, but at the same time I don't want to get my hopes up re: an announcement because I thought we were going to get something at both NYC and Inland and then again at RIR5 and I keep setting myself up for disappointment.

Last I checked GNR completed 4 dates in NY, an entire tour of Europe, 2 dates in Las Vegas and 3 more in California just this year. ?Please take your negativity somewhere else. ?This is a place for fans.

My prediction is that they will definitely show up. They will play generally the same setlist they have been playing (which i think is absolutely fine before the CD comes out). There will not be an "announcement" of any kind regarding the album though. The news of a release date will not come in the form of stage banter. This is wishful thinking. It will be a press statement.

I do think there is a decent (50/50) chance we will hear "Better" in single form this week or next though.

what ive noticed is gnr fans have been so deprived for information, they hope any minor/major event will lead to something. like there was a thread saying "do you think something could happen on halloween" like wtf. like - Hey, its thursday! i wonder if we will get a release date! When you have been waiting for 10 years, you look for every possibility.

Axl is going to announce the release date in an instant message to a microsoft live assistance operator at 3pm on October 25th, because 2 and 5 add up to 7 which has special significance to Axl because he was seven once. During October. You heard it here first.

I remember the press release from 2002 was right around the start of the tour...and it was a GREAT read.  Nothing about the album in the entire article though, hopefully this time its different.

I don't know if this has been suggested or not......i think they should have listening stations of either small clips of several songs on the album ....or a few of the full songs like IRS,Better, Madagascar etc. This will help people to feel connected to the new music and may hype up the shows and encourage people to come to the shows with the hope of hearing new material first. What do you think?

People already know what most the songs listed sound like....plus it would be on headsets....maybe just a 30sec. clips. Let people do the advertising for them. Concert goers could spread the word that new material is ready to go. After a kick ass show most people would be very positive about what they hear and the future of the band.

Yes. But isn't the same effect achieved by playing the songs live, in full? Why go to the expense of carting listening stations from place to place when you can actually play the songs in person. I mean, if all those people have come to the concert to hear you play anyway. . .

I KNOW that everyone hates it when this is said....but it would really suck for the casual fans who are in the place if they did that.  No one would know what they were listening to!  In fact, a casual fan that I work with was asking me about the Worchester show...she was WORRIED that the album wouldn't be out yet, but they might play it at the show.  I giggled and told her I don't think she has to worry about it :hihi:

welll I have heard and listen to Iron maiden doing this real real recently , So it has happened I am sure their die hards were pissed cause non of their old stuff was jammed on.

People are gonna expect songs like Jungle, SCOM, PC, & NR to be played, but other than that. Everything in their current setlist is interchangeable.

Personally if they cut SCOM & NR, I wouldn't shed a tear. Getting kinda bored with them...

I agree, it ain't brain surgery. But secretive-ness comes with the territory with Axl Rose, and I partly, wouldn't have it any other way. It gives Axl his mystique.

But i'm sure management knows what they're doing, and has a plan in place.

They are missing out on potential ticket buyers by at least not having a single. That is poor management or poor decision making by Mr. Rose, one of the two. If they had dropped a single a month before this tour, the ticket sales would have been much much better.

I believe this will be the tour Axl comes out and tells all about his experience with making this album over the last several years.  It has been mastered, and its ready to go.  The question is, is Axl ready to release it and promote this sucker properly?

Properly? I'm going to guess no as this tour has not been promoted properly and the album (if it is actually coming out this year as has been said) hasn't even been promoted at all yet. No single, no release date, no nothing other than "this year". That is not "proper" promotion by anyone's definition.

Being a fan doesn't mean you can't be critical.

They made all of their dates before the 2002 tour began, too.  How'd that end up working out? Two shows have already been postponed for this tour.  Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come. Sorry I can't be a complete fanboy and assume the shows were postponed "because Axl wanted to make sure everything was perfect" (you can replace that with any other lame excuse people have given).

I have my tickets for November 3rd. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the tour is still going on by then.
