That was Wembly Arena recently =) Back in the UYI days GNR played to a full Wembley stadium twice I think, the capacity at those shows standing included must have exceeded 100,000 Title: Re: GnR Playin in stadiums? That was it's capacity for football etc with just seats. Surely the capacity increased for concerts when you had thousands stood on the pitch? Title: Re: GnR Playin in stadiums? Surely the capacity increased for concerts when you had thousands stood on the pitch? No, because the stage end of the stadium is closed off. There are fire regulations too, I've been to a couple of sold out shows there, and there's definitely room to fit more people but they aren't allowed to. Title: Re: GnR Playin in stadiums? Ok fair enough, I'm surprised though I would have thought the people standing would have more than made up for the closed end but I guess not :peace: Title: Re: GnR Playin in stadiums? (Highest Capacity) Post by: TAP on October 22, 2006, 04:54:31 PM I couldn't find anything definitive but attendances for both the Mandela concert in '88 and Live Aid in '85 seem to have been 72000. As a comparison (though not a great one since they put seats on the floor) Giant's stadium in NJ has a capacity of 80,000 for Football but The Rolling Stones played a soldout show to around 60,000 last year.
