Title: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: The Dog on October 19, 2006, 09:26:59 PM I think I would. Even if it means I've heard over 50% of CD before a release date is dropped, I don't think I could resist hearing new GNR material, especially since I'll be seeing them in a few weeks at The Garden.
What about you guys? Title: Re: If new songs are played, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: mornintrain on October 19, 2006, 09:29:57 PM if the big guy doesnt say anything about a release date during the shows, then why not? but if he gives a concrete date to look forward too, I will patiently wait for the album. I havent listened to the new leaks in a while so that when the album comes out theyll still be a little fresh.

Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: Sober_times on October 19, 2006, 09:42:22 PM I would like to say no, but the curiosity alone would have me searching all over the net for em. :smoking:

Post by: The Dog on October 19, 2006, 09:53:22 PM I would like to say no, but the curiosity alone would have me searching all over the net for em. :smoking: EXACTLY how I feel. My curiousity would get the better of me. Plus, when I go to shows I like to know all the songs so I can sing along and know what to expect. I hate going to shows and not knowing one song from the next, even if the songs are good you just can't get into it along with everyone else. Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: -Jack- on October 19, 2006, 09:55:25 PM Nope.
At this point the album IS coming out this year.. and listening to more tracks would be stupid for me. Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: bazgnr on October 19, 2006, 09:57:03 PM I agree - I hate being at shows and not knowing the songs that I'm hearing. ?Ideally, though, I'd prefer to wait and hear the mastered, finished versions when the album comes out. ?I got so used to hearing the Pittsburgh '02 version of "The Blues," for example, that the "new/current" version doesn't sit quite right with me - I like the guitar in the intro. instead of just piano. ?Ultimately, it's my own damn fault, though, for seeking out the boots and playing them to death.
What can I say? ?I'm weak-willed when it comes to new GnR. ?Then again, a 10+ year wait will do that to a person... Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: LittleFly on October 19, 2006, 10:09:45 PM Reeeeaaallly hard question. I held off listening to most of the leaks for a long time because I want the songs to be new. I have only listened to the leaks that have been played at the shows at this point...on purpose.
I would do my damnest to not listen to bootlegs. I also want the music to be new and I want to hear it as it was ment to be heard. ;D Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: jimb0 on October 19, 2006, 10:19:00 PM Fuck Yeah, Cuz I'm going to a show and will hear them anywho.
Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: Janabis on October 19, 2006, 10:29:24 PM I'll download and listen to everything as fast as possible, including the finished album. If I can burn a copy of Chinese Democracy and rock out to it for a week before I can buy it in stores, then great!
Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: Danny on October 19, 2006, 11:16:50 PM I won't listen to them untill that last Tuesday of 2006. Once that day passes, all bets are off.

Once that day passes, all bets are off. That's my thinking on it as well. Because if this album does not come out before the end of this year it is never coming out and Axl is just kidding himself. Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: polluxlm on October 20, 2006, 12:54:19 AM I would definately listen to them. There's a considerable gap between Axls voice live and in the studio, atleast nowadays. So it will sound pretty fresh on the album anyways. After hearing the short clips on the Boston promo in '02, I'm positive that The Blues, Madagascar and Chinese Democracy will sound pretty badass compared to the boots.

Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: Bono on October 20, 2006, 01:54:00 AM At this point in time no. I'll wait untill the new year. If CD's not out by the end of the year though I will do whatever it takes to get my hands on a copy and upload it for everyone for free. :hihi: Seriously though it' supposed to come out this year so I can and want to wait untill it does. If January 1st comes and goes though without CD than I will never wait ever again and I'll simply listen to any and all bootlegs regardless of the point in time or what promises are made.
Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: HamsterDemocracy on October 20, 2006, 03:11:08 AM The way I see it is: there are close to 100 songs (including "finished" tracks and stuff that was abandoned early on) that were recorded in the studio for CD. Hearing a few of them isn't going to hurt.
Most of this stuff is going to turn up in Anthology sets later on - just you wait. Thirty years from now: "The Chinese Democracy Sessions: Unreleased Material and Demos." I have a feeling that come Wednesday (or late Tuesday night for that matter) I'll be listening to another song I've never heard from CD. Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? Post by: slunksoma on October 20, 2006, 07:56:46 AM Lots of interesting points here. got to say though ill go with those of you who wouldnt want to but wouldnt be ablle to stop themselves from listening to new stuff. I wouldnt be able to come on here and see people discussing them without hearing them myself. I want the album but as soon as its leaked online them im gonna have to download it. and buy multiple copies though, so no-one can argue with that. I hope its on an opulent 3lp vinyl set too. yum

Even if I come into it early (as we probably all will) I'm going to buy a copy ASAP when it's released. Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? I'd like to relive the experience of hearing something new from GN'R for the first time at a live concert... It's pretty rare these days. So, I wouldn't download any live boots from the first two weeks. /jarmo Title: Re: If new songs are played on the tour, will you listen to the boots/youtubes? I have only listened to the leaks that have been played at the shows at this point...on purpose. I feel similarly to LittleFly. I didn't listen to a single new song until I watched the KROQ Inland Invasion webcast. After that I figured "The Blues", "Better", "IRS", and "Madagascar" were fair game, and I've listened to them over and over... As well as a few others :-\, but those not so much. While my curiosity tends to get the better of me, I still want CD to sound fresh when I get it. |
