Title: Seeing the band live or Chinese Democracy?
Post by: Bono on October 17, 2006, 10:27:07 PM
O.k. I'm just wondering what people's prefrence is. Would you rather see the band live on this current tour or have Chinese Democracy released? I'm asking because I get the impression that some people would rather see the band live than hear Chinese Democracy based on some of the posts I've read. For me personally I'd say screw the tour if it ment the album. If the tour ment no album I'd want nothing to do with them touring.

I guess there would be no album without a tour. Although GNR have proved that the reverse is not always true...

I'd prefer C.D. but that's easy for me to say, having already seen the band this year.

The album, for sure.

As much as I want to see them live, and how excited I am for next week.....

That would last 2 hours...
The CD would last my whole life...
!!!

(p.s this is a dead horse subject) ;)

Me too I've seen the band this year and at the coolest venue(Hammerstein) but even still I'd rather have the album than seeing them live. The album is somthing that you can take with you forever. A live show is awesome but at the end of the day all your left with is blurred memories :hihi:

ha! We basically said the same thing EFISH. If it's dead horse than oh well. No biggie. Not like it's an overly inspired thread :hihi:

I've never seen them live, but I think I'd rather have the album. Now if this were a question of seeing the AFD lineup together IN THEIR PRIME, then I'd say the opposite. The new guys are great and all, but the youth and danger isn't there anymore with Axl (although he's still an amazing singer and performer).

And a stack of bootlegs.

You don't need a semicolon for that statement. You need a comma.

Copy a comma from someones post, and then paste it :hihi:

:hihi: See I was thinking the same thing but I didn't want to start a pissing match between old and new. If I could see the original lineup at the Roxy or Troubador that would trump my desire for Chinese Democracy.

Chinese Democracy!! I've seen this band live twice and it's time for CD. I could be persuaded to pick seeing the band live if they got Buckethead back. This band is really just a cover band though until they get Chinese Democracy out. They are a killer cover band though, especially when they had the KFC one on guitar.

I think it's great that they're touring... a lot of fans didn't get to see them last time around and I think Axl and co. are really trying to make up for that now. I think once the band has hit the places that were cancelled last time, It will be time for CD.  8)

I agree because they really seem to be hitting a lot of odd ball places as well as places that were skipped last time. Hopefully when you say "places that were cancelled last time" You don't mean Philly and Vancouver. If we have to wait for those places to get shows than we might be waiting for CD for a very long time. Actually I should say a very longer time ?:hihi:

At this point, I'm pretty convinced that this album is never coming out. ?I have tickets to the Minneapolis show and I'm nervous that the tour won't last that long. ?This will be my 5th GNR show (2nd with the "new" band) and it will be the very first time that I will be on the floor...WITH GENERAL ADMISSION. ?So, since I don't think the albums ever coming out anyway, I guess my answer is...LIVE.

Haha, I meant places that were cancelled after the last riot. A lot of fans seemed disapointed and Gn'R are hitting some places that they've never played before(Or haven't played in a long time) and I think thats great, If you told me 4 months ago Gn'R would come to my state I would have fell over laughing.

I'm also biased in that I've seen them live. ?However, even if I hadn't seen them live yet, this year or 2002, I would STILL want CD if I had the choice

As for old vs new....doesn't fuckin matter, whoever is playing the music that I love ?

;D

I'd much rather see them live then have the album.Getting to see your favorite band up close and person is a way better feeling then listening to any album no matter how amazing it is can top.

Bono on your lats 3 post you have bring up the OLD VS NEW band shit.
Give a break. : ok:

You have got to be fucking kididng me! The manner in which I mentioend the original band was completely warrented both times. Not to mention my question to Frozen Inferno was completely honest. I wanted to know which band he was talking about ?due to the fact that his comments were posted shortly after I brought up the idea of seeing the old band in a club in LA. ?Also the manner in which I brought up the original band in the other thread was perfectly fine. It was not done in any way shape or form to insult the new band or fans of the new band or a an act of trolling or spaming the forum. Here's a reality check for ya. A Guns N' Roses forum means the orginal lineup will be mentioned from time to time. Get over it. It'd be like Bon Scott not being allowed to be mentioned on an AC/DC forum. Nothing I said was out of line in any way. WOW! Some of you act at times as if you have nothing but distain for the old band. How can the mere mention "original lineup" ?bug you that much as to make a point of telling someone to stop it? ?Seriously go and reread my last 3 posts in which I mention the originla band. here I'll make it easy for you..

I agree 100%. Too bad that people seem to have the mindset of shitting on the old band and some have it of shitting on the new band just to further their agenda of making one seem better than the other. ?I know who I like better. the old band for me is just more real. It's Guns N' Roses in it's truest form. the new band is extremely awesome and I want to hear CD very much but like you said anyone who chooses not to listen to CD because of Slash or whoever not being involved has some serious issues. Same goes for anyone who was not willing to give VR a chance becasue Axl wasn't involved.

:hihi: See I was thinking the same thing but I didn't want to start a pissing match between old and new. If I could see the original lineup at the Roxy or Troubador that would trump my desire for Chinese Democracy.

So the old band or the new band?

Now can someone please explain to me what is wrong with any of that, which I posted in regards to the original band. I will delete my account if someone can honestly say to me I was out of line.

Anybody think at some point a crazed fan is going to break into the studio or Axl's house and steal all the recorded material and leak it? Sometimes I catch myself thinking this is the best chance we have at hearing this album.

Chinese Democracy... I'd take it anyday over the tour.

Chinese Democracy without the tour > The tour without Chinese Democracy (same setlist, rehash, ect.)

I totally want CD, in my hands, buts as again, getting to see them go around again, knowing its going to be an awesome time again, I just hold the faith, in the words that it will be out this yr. And I just ride the ride.

Im not biased at all as far as old line-up or new, its GUNS N ROSES, either way. I just been lucky to be born on time to see both bands, in intimate settings and great shows. And I firmly believe that this go around will be changes to the show. I mean think about it, would be complete the most idiotic think to come and do the same show that was shown live on the net, will be shown in theaters, on thurs. Ahh thats probably left best for a differnt topic!

But, I really do want CD!
