Title: More new tracks played live?
Post by: feestybaby on October 17, 2006, 12:56:04 PM
I read the press release for the delay with the tour and apparently the gunners want more time to rehearse....more new songs surely! I hope they start playing catcher in the rye because it is amazing! You guys think they'll play any new material before they release the album?

It would be a good decision. I'm also very very exited to hear more new songs Live, especially Catcher in the Rye  :D

Me thinks they're actually getting all their ducks in a row for release of the album.  But that's just my guess as to why the delay....

Is there a press release somewhere that says otherwise?  Can you point me to it?

Sorry press release wasnt by guns but by the guys in charge of the shows (cant remember the companys name) and it said that gnr had requested a week for extra rehearsal, i found it by googling for gnr news yesterday and i cant find it again!!! It could be false but that IS what it said, somebody else must have seen it! Sorry guys... ;D

Sure hope the next live gig brings new songs. They are after all calling the tour the Chinese Democracy tour.
Have a feeling that the next live gig will bring news of a release date for the new album? : ok:

I wish we have some news before the first gig.
But yes, they'll have to play a different setlist...this is the chinese democracy tour so...no more 85% old guns, 15% new guns. Now it has to be maybe 40% old guns, 60% new guns

If they come out and play the same setlist as europe i for one will be VERY dissapointed, i want it to be like the UYI tour where every night was different, or at least had the potential to be.

until the album is out the set prolly won't change :-\

I don't want more spoilers. ?Just cut the solos and play Twat, Rhiad, and CITR. ?Keep playing that old stuff just for me, but switch it up and add.. you're crazy, think about you, used to love her, rq, cd, madagascar ?and then some estranged and coma. ?

Just my opinion, it probably differs from yours but whatever.

And then release the album and play some new kickass shit.

imo-its a bad idea... to showcase new songs to a crowds that have never heard it and can't sing along AND that wont sound even half as good as the album version....

bad idea to play new music live without the album versions to compare too.

That's a really good point.

One person's opinion here, but I doubt we'll see any change until the album's release, whenever that may be.

thats well said...but this is the chinese democracy tour, something has to change. Maybe we will have a single by then and that could be the beginning of some changes in the setlist

i don't think we'll hear any more new songs played live until AFTER the cd is out. Even then, i think at most we'll get 6, maybe 7 new songs per show. I think the setlist will remain predominately old material- hopefully they'll add more UYI era songs though.

there's a good reason why they aren't playing more illusion era stuff right now. and they aren't going to start playing more unless duff and slash rejoin or something.

i think if the tour gets up and running and if the album comes out and the tour continues and the album sells and the new album comes out... it'll be like the u2 zoo tv tours where its all new stuff with a few hits thrown in.

It would make sense for the band to throw those shows into the main body of the tour IF they were finalising the CD album, art, and release strategies for them : after all, it'll be the bands fifth or sixth "Chinese Democracy" tour for an album that hasn't come out yet. If the record was finished and the cover art signed off, then it make sense for that to go into production now - and that window of a few weeks is the only real chance they've had since April to do so. If it's just extra rehearsal, it sounds a bit weak to me - they're shit hot right now, so there's no need to rehearse unless they're adding "Don't Cry" or bringing back "Rhiad" and "Oh My God"

They're a well-oiled machine at this point...What's with the extra rehearsal nonsense and where did it come from?

Title: Re: More new tracks played live?
Post by: nesquick on October 18, 2006, 12:01:47 PM
It could be everything: extra-rehearsals, or last minutes recordings for the album, final touch, or credits, or this and that... it could be everything. We don't know.

I know, but everyone is referring to this extra rehearsal excuse...Where did that even originate?

yeah i was thinking the same, where did that come from?  they havent given us any indication of any new songs possibly being performed.  i would hope that they would at least throw t.w.a.t & catcher in there on a nightly basis til the album drops. most of us have heard them and both songs really rock!  they cant possible come back to nyc and play the same setlist as they did for the hammerstein show, that would be pretty lame.

Oh, but I'm afraid they most certainly can, and very well may!

60% New Guns songs and 40% old?? I'm positive that won't happen.  Most of the people going to the shows aren't hardcore fans like us and probably haven't heard the new songs they are currently playing live, outside of the fans that went to some '02 shows and heard the Blues, CD and Madagascar and maybe Rhiad at one show.  They know they can't play too many new songs yet until the album comes out because most people don't want to go to a concert and hear a ton of songs they are unfamiliar with. So I don't expect us to hear any different NEW songs but maybe some old songs they haven't played live yet. But I wouldn't get my hopes up at all, as it will probably still be the same set list it has always been. Think about it, we have this discussion every single time they have a break and are getting ready to play shows again, and we haven't seen a change yet. They didn't change it for Vegas or Inland Invasion and I really don't think they will for this leg of the tour. We just have to wait until the album comes out.

I think the fans should know by the now that GN'R are GOING to play the same setlist until the album hits.

Gn'R fans can't handle that kind of thinking.  We're all too busy using our illusions and dreaming of new songs being played on this tour.

Now that that's been said, I'm sure we'll have the same set as we've had for a while now.  Most shows will get Better, IRS, Madagascar, and The Blues.. some will get  Chinese Democracy and maybe even TWAT as a replacement for one of the first 4 mentioned.

With the time off for a few weeks, I'm hoping for a new tune.  I doubt it, but I'm hoping

Otherwise, I totally agree.
