Title: Deletion of gunsnroses.com to become the new gnronline?
Post by: KeVoRkIaN on October 16, 2006, 07:09:31 PM
I never want to be tasteless but I thought that this was a point worthy of discussion.  I am not sure why this thread was deleted.  Can someone provide insight?  I clearly did state I am happy with the new site. Haven't really had something deleted since 2002 - just want to know if I crossed some line....

Original Post:

I want to express my complete enthrallment with the launch of gunsnroses.com but the lack of updates seem to be showing already on the eve of a huge North American tour ALL ABOARD THE GN'R 'NIGHTRAIN' has been the only update except for the Canadian ticket "buy" function linking to ticketmaster.ca .  I am a bit skeptical with the marketing of CD on the web as gnronline still had the "world tour 2002" pic in it as of a few weeks ago.  I want to make it clear that I love the fact that we have a new updated site, which was updated a lot in the first few days, but do others feel that the site should include more updates and may fall into the same trap as gnronline.  I would hate to read ALL ABOARD THE GN'R 'NIGHTRAIN' as the most recent update in 2 years.  I know that the site would be updated (I hope) on the release of CD, but if it isn't - Axl and Co. is missing out on the promotion of the internet massively.  Let us all pray that this site will continually be updated as it hasn't as of late.

In no way am I critical of the Mods, Jarmo or anyone else that does a great job running this site - I am just a bit baffled why this wasn't allowed to be a point of discussion.

... I can only guess that, given that we have a thread for gunsnroses.com, that the point was redundant. Though to that end, I guess that they could have been merged... maybe it was just a bit o' cleaning up... maybe we are now a totalitarian state.

I really don't know.

The site's been up two weeks and you're already making bold statements like that?

What the fuck...

It's an official site meant to promote the band, their album and the upcoming tour.

If there's nothing to update on those subjects, it kinda makes little sense to update the site for you.

Ok jarmo - it wasn't meant to be a bitch-fest
I do admire the work you do here in giving us this forum and I was only looking for a point of discussion.  I have seen more crazy threads posted out there before, I do think that my post was a good thread for debate.  That's all.  Unconditional support over a site is not what I was aiming for.  Most official sites kick the crap out of this one - I doubt you can argue that.  I don't know what subjects you imply I was asking to be updated, but really - It's not about defending a thread - I was just curious why an innocent thread was deleted in minutes.

You've been around long enough to see what kind of updates we get from official online sources - (we all get our information from your site)
Why is it so hard to believe that there is the chance we are getting an online hard-on from a new site that could continue the past trend of not updating?

If there's no updates to the site in a year or two, then you have a point.
