Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Amazon is the first site to list new releases for pre-order in the USA. Because I have never ordered a new release from the site, I want to asked all of you about your experience with them.

For those who have ordered a new release from Amazon with standard shipping: did you receive your purchase on (or before) the release date?

Depends.

I've gotten 2 movies the day before the release date.

I've gotten multiple movies and games ON the release date.

I've gotten a few games/movies AFTER the release date.

I don't order music through them (I have a chain store minutes from my house), though, so don't know if the experiences with that are any different.

I preordered a cd and apparently it was shipped on the release day.  I got it about 3 or 4 days afterwards.

as far as i know you cannot get items from amazon on the release date.

and any time i use standard shipping i get it anywhere from 2-7 days afterward.

Must be nice Pilferk...the Tower Records near my home is closing. The nearest "record store" is a good 30-40 minutes from my home. Of all years...they had to wait until G N' R's album is released!

Good 'ole FYE about 10 min in one direction, and good 'ole Strawberries music (owned by FYE) about 15 min in the other direction.

On getting stuff on release day through amazon...it depends on how close you are to a distribution center, I think.? They usually mail stuff out the day of, or the day before, release from one of their warehouses, at least with movies and games.  Music could be different.? Sometimes they'll mail movies out late on Saturday and they'll show up Monday instead of Tuesday.?Usually they mail games out the day before, and arrive on release day.  For me, it almost always takes about 1 day from the day they ship til the day it arrives at my door for standard shipping (around the holidays it takes 2 to 3)...but most of my stuff seems to come out of one of the PA distribution centers...Carlisle or Lewisburg, I think.

What did I miss...Is a date out?  Taking preorders??

the date isn't out, you'd probably know if it was because this place would be INSANE.
and no they're not taking preorders.

(btw, for me there's no point in preordering it if i won't get it for sure on the release date itself OR there's no bonuses)

i treid to order monster ballads from amazon and they sent me a letter saying that they dident have it in stock! then they said my check got lost in the mail and it took me like a  month to get back my 30 bucks

That's what I figured...Why the discussion again?

if your check was lost then how did it take 30 days to get the money back?  if it was never cashed then the money was in your account all along...

I've heard rumors of people getting stuff before the release date, but i've pre-ordered tons of shit, and I never got it 'til at the earliest a week and a half after release.

Maybe, you could order your number of copies of CD early as a pre-order, then select Next Day Overnight shipping, and you might get it the day of the release.

Personally, I want the old fashioned experience of going to the record store, and buying it. Just like the old days.

They ship it the day it comes out.

i've pre-ordered disturbed's ten thousand fists and it arrived 3 days after it's release date, and i'm in europe.
