For what it is worth, I've never seen one of these concerts in a movie theatre before. I know Green Day did it awhile back.

Dude, that is fucking cool. Is this just for the UK though? damn, I would be so there.

Pre party in the parking lot of the theater FTW.

No. This is for the USA, not UK.

Once the "buy tickets" button goes up, then you will be able to enter your zip code and figure out where it will be playing that night. Go to the Rod Stewart show and press "buy tickets" and enter your zip code. Maybe those theaters will be the same ones showing Download.

I saw a korn big screen concert one time. Was pretty cool, but apparently most the time they do these, they never promote them and theres only like 5 people that show up.

It's probably the same footage that has been shown on Channel 4 or Kerrang over here.  Couple of songs and an interview in most cases with quite a few of the bands on over the Download festival.  There were a couple of GnR songs and an interview with Baz, that's about it.  Fucking shame though as it was an amazing weekend and should be available in full, downloadable sets some place as it was all recorded.  Surely wouldn't be that hard to do.

That's pretty cool. U2 filmed a show on the Vertigo tour last year in Buenos Aires  I believe, and it's supposed to come to IMAX.  Gn'R on the big screen would be pretty cool. : ok:

These are AWESOME!!!!!

Korn may have had 5 people but Bon Jovi did this and had hundreds of thousands all over the US go.

Regal Cinemas usually do these kinds of concerts.

I went To Bon Jovi's to coincide with their release of Have A Nice Day and it was great

about 200 people in the theater and people were dancing and goin crazy in the theater, it was wild!

Tickets were like 20 bucks but well well worth it

It featured full length interviews with the band about the CD and then an amazing concert of new songs and just about every hit u can imagine.

So it would be awesome if GNR did one around the release of CD.

All I did was put in my zip code, and it brought up the closest theatre and the option to buy tickets..

If this concept of displaying GN'R on a big screen were a person I would most definitely make cold passionate love to it.

I am excited about this, I shall go now to see if it is playing near me.

Title: Download Festival '06 performances shown at Regal Cinemas
Post by: BaDoBsEsSiOn418 on October 08, 2006, 12:06:19 AM
Went to the movies tonight to see Employee of the Month (pretty funny, what I expected), and during the credits they showed a preview for Download '06, with clips from Avenged Sevenfold and Deftones, and of course, our beloved GN'R.  It was cool with see Axl and crew on the big screen.

For those not familiar, Regal shows past concerts from all kinds of artists.  Checked it out online after I got home from the movie...

http://www.fandango.com/MoviePage.aspx?mid=99911&source=bm_title

It's only an hour and a half long, so I'm not sure how much of the Guns performance you get to see, but hey, it's proshot and how cool would it be to see Better or something in a movie theatre?

So we KNOW for sure what songs will be playing on the big screen?  It's playing right beside my work...so any info on this show would be great!!  Will they show at least half the setlist or not?

i don't think anything concrete is known about which songs will be on there but I'd guess they will show 3 songs max since they are focusing on many different bands...

 Yo,
I saw KoRn on one of these big screen concerts back in 2001. It was a cool experience and I grabbed the small lightbox promo sleeve that hung outside our theater afterward,as a souvenir. We couldn't make the actual show, which was soldout in NYC's Hammerstein,so this was a good second choice.

Does anyone know for sure if this is a normal movie screen or on the IMAX screemns? I can't see it state that anywhere for sure. It's 10 bucks at the theatre in  Woodfield IL near me, so I'm thinking that's IMAX since the normal rpice for movies there on a weekday is 8 or 9.

I'm sure you can see the difference between seeing something on a computer screen (Youtube's version is in low-quality) and seeing something on an enormous movie screen.

Fuck this, I paid 11 dollars each, for 2 tickets to go to this...
I get there and give them the papaer I printed out, and they give me the tickets and I look and it says CANCELLED on the tickets. So I said what the hell is up with this? and they told me that it was cancelled and to go inside and talk to the manager...
I went inside and he wouldnt give me an explanation to why it was cancelled, but gave me 2 free movie passes.
I asked for my money back but he refused and said only movie passes.
Well a movie ticket is 7 bucks, so I was getting 14 dollars worth for my 22 dollars spent, pluss the inconveience of going to the theatre to only find out that it is cancelled. He wouldnt even give me another pass to make up for my lost money.

Damn it, had the camera ready to roll, was super excited to see this, and then I get fucked over.   :-\

They opened the movie with Nightrain. Then the next hour or so was ALL screaming bands that sounded like one song, couldn't tell the bands apart.?  They ended it with a Baz interview talking about the text message from Axl, and how Axl was blowing peoples minds.? The last two songs were My Michelle and Paradise City as expected.?? There were 5 people in my theatre and I was singing and cheering/singing along when GN'R were playing.? My girl kept telling me to shutup, lol.
