Overrated: Yesterdays Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: GnR_Kel_UK on June 09, 2004, 03:40:02 PM Looooads of GN'R songs are very underated, especially Don't Damn Me, Estranged, Coma, and a lot of the other songs on the Use Your Illusion albums.
Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Rebecca Duff Rose on June 12, 2004, 03:54:25 PM I did a thread like this i think! Oh well!
Under-rated- SCOM, PARADISE CIT, ALL TRACKS FROM UYI'S that weren't released! My World! BUICK MAKANE! i hate how people yak on bout other songs from TSI, when Buick Makane is a GREAT song! Ohhhhhh Its sooooooooo great when the last verse hits! All i do is think of DUFF! :-* Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Dizzy on June 12, 2004, 10:34:48 PM OVERRATED
Patience Live and Let Die Civil War Knockin on Heaven's Door UNDERRATED Think About You Anything Goes Reckless Life Don't Damn Me Black Leather So Fine Pretty Tied Up Breakdown Locomotive 14 Years Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: matt88 on June 13, 2004, 04:49:05 AM Dizzy are u serious....Patience ???
I know a few people are abit turned off of it cos there's no drums is that ur reason? And KoHD is average on the Cd but Live it's fantastic : ok: Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Dizzy on June 13, 2004, 10:33:56 AM Patience ??? I know a few people are abit turned off of it cos there's no drums is that your reason? That's one of them. I've always thought that the song just lacks punch. It's too slow, Axl's voice is too soft, and yes, there are no drums. The live version is slightly better but still not good, IMO. It's one of my least favorite GNR songs. Quote And KoHD is average on the Cd but Live it's fantastic It's the other way around for me, I like the studio recording (minus that stupid phone call), but the live versions got really redundant. Especially laughable was Axl exclaiming, "Gimme some reggae!" Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Hammy on June 13, 2004, 11:20:21 AM Overated
Patience Since I Don't Have You Paradise City Underated Don't Damn Me Rocket Queen Think About You Breakdown Locomotive Sympathy For The Devil Back off Bitch Shadow of Your Love Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Izzy on June 13, 2004, 06:25:16 PM Overated Patience Since I Don't Have You Paradise City :o Those are possibly my top three favs (with 14 years) Patience is the finest acosutic song i have ever heard - it can't be over rated! Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: JustUsOwls on June 14, 2004, 01:37:23 AM Overated Patience Since I Don't Have You Paradise City Underated Sympathy For The Devil You're Crazy! Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Hammy on June 14, 2004, 07:35:53 AM Overated Patience Since I Don't Have You Paradise City :o Those are possibly my top three favs (with 14 years) Patience is the finest acoustic song i have ever heard - it can't be over rated! Paradise City is a song i love live but as a studio song i think it's a bit lacking and overated, Since I Don't Have You is one of the worst tracks on TSI? it's meant to be damn punk covers it just does not suit GN'R not keen on it at all. As for Patience it's missing a kick hell i do enjoy it but i think it's overated, saying a song is overated is not saying you dislike it just saying you don't think it's as good as everyone thinks. These 3 songs were on the GH, they were singles but hell there are tracks people consider filler that i consider better. as for JustUsOwls thinking im crazy for believing Sympathy For The Devil is underated well fact is i enjoy the track and am not afraid to say it. But most on this board and nearly all reviewers condem it i don't know why i love it and think it kicks the Stones version in to touch. Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Underated-All of them especially Jungle and Rocket Queen Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Darloboy on June 23, 2004, 04:04:28 PM The most underrated is Don't Damn Me, followed by Bad Obsession, Right Next Door To Hell and indeed many others from UYI1.
Most overrated is quite difficult to pick, as I like most GnR songs. I'll probably go with Mr. Brownstone, I never really got into that song for some reason. Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Skeletor on June 27, 2004, 03:48:55 PM Overrated: Live And Let Die & Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Underrated: Don't Damn Me the live versions got really redundant. Especially laughable was Axl exclaiming, "Gimme some reggae!" Yeah, another thing that bugged the hell outta me was how at the end of KOHD Axl always had to go through this in-depth explanation of what was about to take place, as if the audience was totally clueless: "See, first I sing one, and then you sing one, and then we do that four times..." Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: journey on June 29, 2004, 10:48:33 AM I personally don't consider any GN'R songs to be overrated. The ones that have been praised, deserve all the credit they get. But, the songs that I feel lack much needed attention and credit, are Breakdown, Think About You, My Michelle, Rocket Queen, You Ain't The First, So Fine, and 14 Years.

It?s hard to pick but maybe Yesterdays ??? Underrated Move To The City Rocket Queen Bad Obsession Double Talkin?Jive So Fine Locomotive Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: GNR_AFD on July 01, 2004, 05:46:35 AM Mhmm, Court Jester, how can you say Estranged is over-rated? To me it is one of the most under-rated GNR songs.
Well anyway, I think the most under-rated song is "One in a Million". Because of its lyrics no one ever says it's a good song, scared to be pointed out as a racist. But I think it's one of their best and no, I'm not a racist, I just love the song. But also 14 Years needs to get some more recognition, cause I think it's one of the best ongs on UYI2. The most over-rated song is ofcourse Knocking On Heavens Door. Also Yesterdays isn't that special. Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Mr Cowbell ? on July 03, 2004, 06:03:09 AM Yeah I think "One in a million" is underated. I also think "Rocket Queen" if it had been on any other album besides AFD it would of been a hell of a single
Estranged is a Fucking Great song, the video is fucked up. Overated? NONE imo.... Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on July 06, 2004, 03:43:35 PM Over
Knocking On Heaven's Door Under Breakdown Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: jarmo on July 06, 2004, 05:40:03 PM It'd be great if you could actually explain your choices..... You know, give the reason(s) why you think the songs you picked are under-/overrated.

You know, give the reason(s) why you think the songs you picked are under-/overrated. /jarmo In my case, I picked Knockin On Heaven's Door because even though I like the song, I don't think it's anywhere near their best work, and it's also a remake, but it's one of their most famous and popular songs. Breakdown is an amazing song, it's a great piece of music but if it is often overlooked when discussing GnR's best material. I think it's one of their very best. Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: GnR_Kel_UK on July 16, 2004, 12:06:18 PM Also, I reckon all the songs on TSI are way underrated!! It never gets as much attention as it deserves, there are great covers on that album!!
Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: Ignatius on July 17, 2004, 09:11:40 PM Overrated Jungle. I love the song, but there are many better GNR songs. It's been played to death and I just got tired of it. Underrated Dead Horse. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it. Dead Horse has one of the best - if not, the best - lyrics Axl has ever written. Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: SLASH2365 on July 30, 2004, 09:50:22 PM Overrated- all cover songs on UYI 1+2
Underrated- Nightrain, Think About You, Out Ta Get Me Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated GN'R song. Post by: CheapJon on October 06, 2006, 06:53:23 AM well since there is a thread about the most underrated there should be one thread of the most overrated
one of the most overrated IMO gotta be Live And Let Die, if you want arguements: i don't think it's that great, the UYI version were better then todays live version, play it live too often, they could put in other songs in the setlist, but hey, this isn't a thread about the setlist on the upcoming tour so no more comments about that, your most overrated gnr song? |
