Title: How is the promotion in your city? Post by: axlrosehunny on September 30, 2006, 05:36:58 PM In Edmonton here and I think most of Canada the shows are being promoted by the House of Blues Concerts. I am kinda anoyed at some of the radio spots I have heard...
"This may be your last chance to see Axl Rose." "Hear Axl Rose sing all the classic GNR songs, such as..." Basically they are promoting this as the Axl Rose band and not as Guns N Roses. I think this is just to get in some of the old fans. But I say FUCK THEM. This is Guns N Roses. So is this how they are promoting it in your city? Title: Re: How is the promotion in your city? But they don't have anything bad to say about them, at least what I've heard on 98 Rock.

Post by: Robman? on September 30, 2006, 06:00:32 PM I'm also a member of Ultimate-guitar.com , under the same name, and when GNR started touring all the comments under their news stories were 90% "New GNR Sucks" and "Axl Rose is an A-Hole", but now that US dates have been announced, the band is doing great, and the album seems eminent, 80% of the comments are postive ones. The general public who knows about GNR think of them more positivley than they did before. Except for the occasional "Axl Roses is dead right?"

On our Classic Rock station, they are giving away tickets to the show... Our new rock stations are giving away tickets too, but the DJ's never have anything positive to say about GNR... They mostly rehash the old stories.... And make fun of Axl's braids...

and of course its not on KLOS calendar since they love to promote shows like REO speedwagon and foreigner!!! Well I don't listen to the radio, primarily because it sucks and most of it is controlled by Clear Channel or similar conglomerates which can frankly go fuck themselves for telling me what I want to listen to. In general GNR does get a lot of airplay in Canada though, especially out west, but even around Toronto I hear them quite a bit on Q107 and 97.7. I think I might have heard them on 102.1 once in my life, but the Edge has pretty much turned to shit anyhow, they were always the alternative station, anti-anything prior to 1990, and after "alternative" died (i.e. no more Nirvana, Alice in Chains, etc.), instead of embracing good shit they embraced whatever garbage was trendy at the given moment (they'll play emo shit over Tool, Pearl Jam, and Audioslave etc. at this point, despite those bands having more listeners and bigger shows). Canada is more rock n' roll than the US no doubt so it doesn't surprise me that the shows might sell better here. I wonder how that statement is gonna go over :rofl: It's just a fact though. If you look at album sales, rock albums tend to chart higher in Canada and seem to debut higher more often as well. Title: Re: How is the promotion in your city? There is no real true rock bands left anyways, that sound good, but with an edge. And if there is there so no way for them to get over in the US. "GNR and Chinese Democracy set to take over the world again" type thing. The one guys does the basic "GNR is not Slash BS that he says everytime Im quite frankly getting sick of BS like that. Yeah man slash was my favorite guitarist and biggest inspiration on the guitar but its been what 10 years since hes left?? GNR continued on without him. Funny why dont i hear ppl saying Guns N Roses isnt Guns N Roses without Trac Guns?? how can u have Guns N Roses without the Guns?....Id also like more respect to izzy. This guy is a HUGE reason the band went down hill. he was a huge talent great ear for music and sounds much like Axl is..but you basically hear squat about it. it doesnt matter if Izzy,Gilby,Alder or Sorum are in the band. But as soon as Slash leaves GNR is dead.
I think its time for this to end. It makes me want the album to just barry everything these fools say. |
