Title: Best Uk gig?
Post by: feestybaby on September 29, 2006, 04:20:51 PM
I saw them three times, Download, Sheffield and Manchester. For atmosphere Manchester was great, Axl really seemed to enjoy the response he got and was in fine spirits. Download was pretty f'n awesome as well (they played rocket queen which is always a treat!) and i had the best view in the house on the opening night in sheffield, hanging on to the barrier centre stage!!! Which did you guys enjoy most....

well, i have a feeling that i bang on about this too much, however...the acoustic show really rocked  :hihi:

but nothing compares to hammersmith, amazing.

its all down to personal experiences though. i mean, out of the 4 shows i saw i think they played best at download, but that was fucked obv. and my memory is kinda tarnished due to the cunts in the crowd.

I only got to go to Download in the end, I was hoping to go to Manchester and Birmingham too but those dates fell very nicely into the two weeks that I was on a pre-booked non-refundable deposit holiday  , They were amazing at Download, but I just hope the band realises there were many of us there who thought they were fucking awesome, not all of us were being dick heads like most of the crowd.

Wembley Arena on 29th July.  Amazing... Axl was in a good mood throughout, laughing and joking.  Great setlist, including 3 incredible, never-played-since covers of Sway, Sailing and Back In The USSR.  And best of all, he didn't collapse so the show didn't end with that preening poser Sebby Bach mutilating Paradise City.

Well the Glasgow show I was at seems to be a hidden gem, as little of the show in terms of video or audio exists as yet. It was simply amazing, the Scots always going wild for bands, usually more so than down south (from my experience going to gigs for other bands in London and Newcastle). That atmosphere plus the band being well on-form made it a smashing experience. But I don't think GN'R had a bad show on the Euro tour did they?

That's damn true! The crowd and the fact we got Madagascar in the encore made it a very special night.

I couldn't just pick one though. Hammersmith was my first Guns show, and in such a perfect venue. But Download was open air and had the best set list!

Well... the performance as Donington was amazing, but the overall show was mired by so many people who were there to cause shit. ?Booing Tommy, chanting for Slash, screaming insults at Axl and whatnot.

Only went to Glasgow and Donnington, but I'm gonna plump for Glasgow!

Even although Donnington had Rocket Queen......

Ah fuck it, they were all awesome!  : ok:

Hammersmith was just amazing - the atmosphere was unbelievable and the anticipation!!!!!!!!  Then when you heard the famous WTTJ intro....... holy shit - just thinking about it sends shivers up my spine.

Download was obv amazing for many reasons.  Seeing MAD axl was great, Izzy, Bach, the turnaround when BBF played Dont Cry

AMAZING!

I saw seven UK gigs and they were all great.

The majority of the UK tour was at the end of the tour which means the band was really tight.

But the following needs special mention:

June 7th - London @ Hammersmith Apollo: This is a legendary venue and to see GN'R there was a dream come true.

June 11th - Donington Park: Obvious reasons. The band was fighting a battle on stage and come out winning. A crowd full of people who couldn't care less. But at the end, GN'R won and the assholes lost.

July 29th - London @ Wembley Arena: Those covers! I was expecting a surprise in the set, but not something like that. Very cool.

July 30th - London @ Cuckoo Club: Well, what can I say? Standing in a small club at 4AM after the gig mentioned above and witnessing GN'R play an acoustic show was something truly special. I remember walking out from the club afterwards and thinking "What the hell did I just see?". It was very unreal.

I saw 4 of their UK shows, Hammersmith, Donington and the 2 Wembley shows.

Hammersmith and the first Wembley won the day for me.

I'm unlikely to ever see Guns in such a small venue as that again, and I was right on the barrier, but it was worth all the bruises to see the band close up and to touch Robin and Bumble, and strum Bumble's guitar during 'Paradise City'. :smoking:

I didn't enjoy Donington, it was a terrible atmosphere where I was in the crowd, and though they came through in the end, the start wasn't the best with all the various problems. :(

The first Wembley show was immense and as Jarmo said, all those covers were amazing!

It's a shame the second Wembley show didn't finish the way the band wanted, cos I feel the band were on the brink of putting on a better show than the night before. : ok:

A special tour by a special band.
