Here Today... Gone To Hell!

I bumped into my old music instructor at Amoeba Records in Hollywood last night. He told me that the store attempted to get Guns N' Roses to play at the store on the night before the album is released. According to one of the employees, they were unable to perform because they would be leaving for Canada at that time.

I will love to see the album released before their L.A. shows (I will attend the shows). 8 of my fingers are crossed!

whats scary is that its been a month now since Axl said "this year" at the VMAs, and still we've heard nothing concerning a single or album manufacturing etc...

Well, I just checked the dates on this site and it seems like they begin there Canadian shows on December 4. Hmmm...I swear he mentioned November  ???.

He also told me he saw Jane's Addiction play at the store a few years ago and that was nearly impossible to get into. I can imagine how difficult it would be to see G N' R there  >:(.

Live Era was announced October 16th - released November 23rd

Greatest Hits was announced Februray 19th - released March 23rd

Funny, seeing I plan on going to the Nov 20th show in Halifax - CANADA!

A short notice is the best thing for Chinese Democracy promotion..
If they announced it 4 months ahead of time, naysayers would simply say,
"yeah sure, we've heard that before.." and no momentum will build up.

If they wait 6-8 weeks prior, and then start the media blitz, it will stick
in peoples minds much more (the release date).

A mid-late november release date sounds perfect for this unique album
in history...A lot of kids will be putting this on their Christmas list, and
historically November is a successful and popular release month.

I'd expect an announce in about 2 weeks, when mixing is close to being done.

I've thought about this the last few days. This is just speculation on my part, but my guess is that it'll come out either November 21st OR December 26th. I'm not going into why, it's just my gut feeling- which could (and probably is) very well be wrong.

The Canadian tour starts in November in Toronto on the 15th.

Well, they play Toronto November 15th, which is a Wednesday. ?If they're on their way to Canada upon the date of its release, then that makes November 14th plausible. ?Coupled, as mentioned above, that November 13th in the UK has been thrown around a few times, and that seems to be the safe bet. ?Also, that gives it a week or two before American Thanksgiving (sorry, as I Canadian I'm only aware of Thanksgiving in the states being at the end of November) which is, as you all know, the busy time for retailers.

Personally, November 14th would be sweet for me, I'm planning on seeing GNR in Toronto, Ottawa and Quebec City. ?Something to listen to on the road trip would be great.

This is coming out either the 14th or the 21st (i think this is the date)--nothing like driving to relatives blasting GNR on Thanksgiving weekend!!!

My B-Day is November 9th. That is all.

So... I've gone into complete over-speculative mode here, and with some help from things I've heard other people say, these are the likely release dates...

November 7th - 7 is the chinese lucky number
November 14th - they're going to be playing canada the day after... plus it'll catch the day after thanksgiving - which is apparently the biggest day for shopping in the US.? Why not November 21st?? Jay-Z's new album is coming on that date, and record labels don't like two major record releases on the same day - it decreases the chance of the album hitting the number one spot
November 28th - just in time for the major christmas shopping rush

December 5th isn't an option, as Eminem is apparently releasing an album on the same day.? He's also on Interscope Records, so they wouldn't dream of putting him head-to-head with GN'R.? Any time after that, I think will be too late to capitilise on christmas shopping season.? And some people saying December 26th should be shot!? If ever a record label needed an album to shift as many copies in as short a time as possible, it's this one... why oh why do people think they'd put it out on the day after christmas?? The very start of the worst time of the year for record sales!

PS - I know I got these ideas from other people on here... I just found them likely.

It will not be released after XMAS , thus december 26 th .From a econmoical money saling chart topping fact look for it right after thanksgiving , that is when the official christmas buying season begins in america

November 21st and Dec 5th have to be out of the running. The 21st is a particularly nice date, but with Jay'z releasing his big comeback album, there is no way the label would risk releasing CD on a week it won't be #1 on the charts. As far as the 5th, with Eminem releasing an album you would have to think the same logic would apply.

The 14th seems to be the date that would ensure a debut at #1, and ensure it is in stores for the Christmas shopping season. As with all things GNR though, we just never really know.

Election Day? hmmm....

If it's not on the same day, I'm pretty sure it'll come out in the UK before the US, since records are released on mondays in Europe.

Over the past few years...Axl has been big on the New Year's concerts in Vegas....

And for UYI they became the first band in history to have a midnight sale...

Since the new album is an event unto itself...what better way to celebrate than to release the album at midnight on Dec. 31?

I November would be a good time for the cd with the tour and still a few great weeks befor x-mass. I'm just happy that will we get it befor the year is over.  :D

My bet is on November 28. That's the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, just in time for Christmas shopping.

Hello all! I just purchased a few Audrey Hepburn ( :love:) dvds at Amoeba Records and asked my instructor's buddy about CD and he told me that they just received a few boxes from Universal. The only one he has opened so far contained promos for the new Gwen Stefani album which is due the first week of December. One of the 3 other boxes is gigantic (compared to the others) and has "Not to be opened before November 20" printed under the seal, while Gwen Stefani's had "November 11" on the seal. The others were not labeled. That is the only hint he has at a possible release of the album.

I doubt it, I think they could start the jay z promoting now if they want, there is no cloud of secrecy behind it, so if they had the jay z stuff, im sure theyd be able to display  it.

The Star Wars stuff makes it less likely it's CD. CD will almost certainly one CD (excuse the pun). No reason to believe its any different.

it's a promo box -- which means it's filled with posters, window clings, standees, etc.  It's not the CD's themselves.  The number of discs Chinese Democracy may or may not be is hugely irrelevant to the amount of promotional materials the label may send out.

It's a big box, which means there's lots of material -- which means a big promotional push.  Which likely means little pre-existing awareness is out there for this release.  A shock and awe marketing campaign, if you will.  Hence the "CD" conclusion.

Frank's music in Moncton apparently received some promos posters and stuff but they were strictly told by the record company to keep it in the back. ?They were supposed to put it out this week but it has been delayed. ?I haven't seen the posters yet. ?They won't show it to me. ?:rant:

i think this is still hearsay, right?  we're making this guess based on the HD press release stating that the Paradise City add would cease running on the 19th.  The inference is that it will be replaced with a better one.  : ok:
