Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Post by: Nighteyes on September 28, 2006, 07:26:31 PM I don't think they played glam-like music either. To me glam was always..lighter?happier?can't find the right word :-\
Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Post by: BLS-Pride on September 28, 2006, 07:29:06 PM Not glam. Poison is glam.
Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Post by: Bono on September 28, 2006, 08:14:29 PM Nope. They may have looked it in the early day before AFD came out but they were not glam. the music doens't have a glam sound or vibe to it. You'd have better luck caling them a "hair Band" than glam band.
Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Post by: BLS-Pride on September 29, 2006, 12:12:36 AM Nope. Glam Metal, Hair Metal, Teeth Metal(bands that smile all the time ie Bon Jovi) Its all the same pussy shit. Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Post by: mrlee on September 29, 2006, 07:25:53 PM Nope. Glam Metal, Hair Metal, Teeth Metal(bands that smile all the time ie Bon Jovi) Its all the same pussy shit. not really. The whole glam metal can be classified many different ways. hair metals totally different to glam, and obviously the more newer style sleaze metal is totally different again. its not all "pussy shit". Most glam bands have some of the best riffs and guitaring made. Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Post by: ppbebe on September 30, 2006, 12:31:41 PM mrlee is right. Do some of you really know what the glam is?
basically glam is defined by early roxy music, david bowie, iggy pop, alice cooper, T rex, NY dolls etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glam_rock Glam rock (less commonly, and mostly in the USA, known also as glitter rock), was a style of rock and roll music popularised in the early 1970s. It was mostly a British phenomenon, at its peak between the years of 1971 and 1973, made famous by acts such as Slade, David Bowie, Gary Glitter and T. Rex and had influence on groups such as Queen and Kiss. In the USA, Glam made less of an impression and was largely confined to selected music fans in the cities of New York and Detroit. Glam was distinguished by the glittery, sparkly costumes of the performers, perceived as glamourous by fans, and its bouncy rock n? roll songs. Lyrical emphasis was often on "teenage revolution" (such as in T. Rex's "Children of the Revolution" and Sweet?s "Teenage Rampage") as well as sexuality, decadence and fame. Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on September 30, 2006, 01:03:12 PM GNR looked glam very early on, mainly because they came from LA and it was the trend. However, they never sounded glam.
Title: Re: Are GN'R Glam? Post by: nesquick on September 30, 2006, 01:16:11 PM in their early days, yes. but they quickly moved on.
