Title: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: russtcb on September 27, 2006, 07:27:45 PM OK. I was posting in another thread when I thought of starting this one. I don't want this to disintegrate into some sort of old v new thread. I also hope people don't posted stuff like "GN'R was late once and that bummed me out". I think this could be cool if everyone has some experiences to share.
I've seen GN'R 5 times total and believe it or not, stuff outside the GN'R concert could've turned the night into BIG bummers. Check these stories out: The first one is very small. When we went to see GN'R with Metallica & Faith No More at the Silverdome here in Detroit in 1992, we were all kids. My friends cousin had to borrow her moms car to even get us there. We ofcourse assured all of our parents that we'd be home by 11pm at the least (yeah RIGHT!) to seal the deal. Well, needless to say, GN'R going on stage at 12:15am didn't help, but I'll tell you what was worse: getting to the car at roughly 3:30am to find out that the driver had locked her keys in her car!!!!! This was obviously well before the time of cell phones so none of us had anyway to reach any one to help! We stood in the parking lot trying to flag any sort of help for at least an hour to no avail. The Silverdome is smack dab in the middle of "the 'hood" just so you know and here's 4 white as white can be GN'R fans trying to find someone to help us! Eventually we flagged down a police officer who found ONE towing company open at that hour. We all had to chip in to get the money up to get the car open so we could be on our way. We had the cop radio the station to call the drivers mom and at least let them know that we all hadn't been killed. That was bad at the time, but it was no where NEAR as bad as what happened to me right before the first night at the Hammerstein Ballroom this year. Check this out: Myself, my wife, my guitarist and his girlfriend decided we were gonna make the drive from north of Detroit to NYC to see GN'R. Everything was alllll good until about 3 hours before the show. My wife and I settled into the TGI Fridays across the street from the Hammerstein and proceeded to get HAMMERED. We met some really cool GN'R fans from Chicago while we were there. Eventually my guitarist joined up with us and we got even more demolished. Finally it was time for the men to go see GN'R and the women to go hit NYC. So us and the guys from Chicago headed to the line for the show. By this time the line was at least 10 blocks long if not longer. So there we are... waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Finally someone makes the sound decision to go get more beer. So we all pound those beers as fast as we can. Everyone around seems to be running to some near by alley or void to take a leak. The one guy from Chicago and I were both worried about doing that so we kept holding it hoping the line would move. It never did. So finally we decide we're gonna make a run to the bathroom. But we decided to be really smart about it and go way past where everyone else had gone. We went like 3 buildings farther and decided to run behind the building. So we did that and started pissing. Right there in mid-piss we hear "What the fuck do you two think you're doing?!?!". I turned around and saw a very irate man and said "I'm so sorry, is this your business? We just really had to go. We'll leave. I'm sorry" as I'm saying that, we're both zipping up and trying to walk away. The guy grabs my shirt and says "No. No. Stop where you are.....and you to!" so we both stop. Another guy comes out of the window of the side of the building with a badge and a gun and says "What the FUCK is this?!". The first guy grabs onto my shirt and says "These two assholes were just pissing on our pricinct sarge!". As you might imagine, I immediately shit myself. They then called another five or so cops to yell at us. They put us up against a fence, read us our rights, searched us, the whole nine yards. I am telling you I was scared shitless, for real. They took our IDs and ran our records. We both explained that we were from Chicago and Detroit respectively and felt like idiots for what we did. We continued to explain that we had both travelled from very far away just to see Guns N' Roses and we reitterated how stupid we felt for what we did. I guess the funniest part of the story came next when one of the cops said "GUNS N' ROSES?!?! With that goof ball Buckethead or the real Guns N' Roses?" and I said (please remember I was scared beyond belief) "No. Bucketheads not here sir, but neither is Slash. It's someone new, we don't know who yet.". They ended up giving us our stuff back and letting us go on our way. They were probably the nicest they could've been about something like that overall. We got back to the line and everyone in line what like "HEY! Where were you guys?!" and overall course we said "Um. We don't wanna talk about it right now.". Haha. I guess I can laugh about it now but it was a pretty big ass bummer at the time for sure!! So lets here 'em! Anyone got anything near as bad to share about the night of a GNR show with me? Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: gnr2006 on September 27, 2006, 07:29:41 PM holy crap man!
great read. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: Bono on September 27, 2006, 07:34:17 PM Here it is short and sweet:
Driving all through the night in the most wicked snow storm and driving conditions I have ever seen(saw a semi jacknifed over the cliff in the mountains with the driver still in it) from Sylvan Lake, Alberta to Vancouver(normally 12 hours but it took us 16) in 2002 only to have the show cancelled last second. >:( Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: slash666 on September 27, 2006, 07:35:06 PM Dunno if this counts but when i saw GnR in Newcastle in July, when i was queuing i saw a guy piss into a empty bottle of JD and then drink the piss, i was sick immediatly on the spot!
Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: EFISH on September 27, 2006, 07:35:31 PM HAHA wow that story about Hammerstein: My heart litteraly was beating fast. I know just how that feels, that must have been basically the scariest moment of your life!
Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: daubs on September 27, 2006, 07:37:28 PM haha good story. some people would have just detained you so you would miss the concert..that would have sucked.
galad it worked out for you. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: GNRSANDMAN on September 27, 2006, 07:37:50 PM In 1988 I believe, maybe it was '87, when Gn'R opened for Aerosmith. Me and my budy we're driving up from San Diego to L.A. (I can't remember where they played) having a great time smoking all the way, not good things, ha ha, and my car just completely shut off. Like someone pulled the plug. Ended being a fryed distributer I believe. ?Missed the whole show..... ? ? :crying: ?
Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: -Jack- on September 27, 2006, 07:39:19 PM Well..
I was at Inland Invasion... ... Dizzy's piano solo just ended... the blues intro started... And even though I knew there wouldn't be any... ... the 02 guitars weren't there. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: slashBOG on September 27, 2006, 07:41:39 PM OMG.. almost same story for me... I was in the line for the NY show on May 14, and I really had to go too, we walked around the corner abt 2 blocks from the ballroom,, me and my friend did not notice that we were pissing on the precint wall also, It's unbelievable, that the same story happened to someone else.. anyway,, Something else happened once inside the ballroom.. I was a litttle drunk, talking to some guys from Boston, I took out my camera and started taking pictures of me and the guys, when one of the security people grabbed me from my arm and said.. U gotta go, no cameras are allowed in here,, I am like,,, What the #@$#$@ I flew all the way from Florida for this show, and now they're gonna kick me out?? hell nooo.. Without even thinking I just pushed the guy,, and ran away as fast as I could, never turn back to see If I was being followed or not... Went inside the crowd on the floor area and got them lost,,,, It was a hell of a crazy night.. I will never forget it... ? : ok: .. now 2 more are coming,,,, HELL YEAHHH!!!

Hahahahaha, that was so funny!! :D :D :D Anyways, biggest bummer was having a ticket for the 2001 Stockholm show, which got postponed and then cancelled, plus a ticket to Roskilde Festival 2001, which I did go to, although GN'R cancelled. Good thing I did, 'cause otherwise I would have missed one awesome Nick Cave show. I think Wyclef Jean played in GN'R's spot. THAT's the definition of a bummer, eh? The most recent one was waiting in line since 11AM for the Paris show and then ending up being starved, dehydrated but still having to pee, completely worn out from standing up so long, and without a good spot when the actual GN'R show started. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: jesuswithamullet on September 27, 2006, 07:51:18 PM Finding out that I could've met most of the band, including Axl, if I had stuck around after the show in San Francisco (which I didn't)

I know just how that feels, that must have been basically the scariest moment of your life! Overall, I'd have to say yes. For SO many reasons. It's like "our women are at a Broadway show.... my wife's gonna KILL me anyways.... no one's gonna know what happened to me... " like a million things went through my mind! Someone else posted about being lucky for not being detained. I could go into detail but you have no idea how lucky I was for that not happening and that was at the top of my mind too! We wanted to go to the Hard Rock on Broadway. Hoped a cab, told him where we wanted to go. He took forever to get there, then pulls over NO WHERE. And all four of us are like "Ummm... there's no Hard Rock here?" and the cabbie seemed angry at us and was like "WELL IT USED TO BE HERE!" and we were like "Ok. Thats cool and all, but we want to go where it is NOW". We found our way there but it was a weird time gettin' there. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: Bill 213 on September 27, 2006, 08:58:45 PM The night of the Philly show in '02........I took a train to Philly and it didn't get there till 6:30.? Doors were supposed to open at 7, but thank god that Axl never shows up on time because they eventually didn't open till about 8.? Either way....the line for taxis was fucking HUGE...like wrapped around the block.? This nicely dressed black man comes up to me and is like "where you going?"? I say I'm off to a concert at the FU center.? He's like I'll take you.? I'm so desperate that I didn't care, so I get in....it's actually a fucking limo.? The guy gives me a card and everything.? Anyhow this dude flies across super packed traffic to get me there and only charges me $35 bucks.? That was the cool part.? The shitty part then starts...I was supposed to meet a few people from the board and I couldn't find them.? Then we get in and the show starts and well I think you guys know what happened.? Anyhow after getting out of the FU center I'm just like shit, how do I get back to the train station.? Luckily two chicks were walking by me and were like are you going to the subway, I'm like yeah, so they say can we walk with you for protection purposes I guess.? Anyhow they lead me to the subway, we get on our seperate trains and sure enough as soon as I get on there, it's 3 drunk white dudes, some white trash chicks, a nice dressed girl by herself, a staff member at the FU center and myself.? The white dudes and the white trash chicks start arguing about Axl (no lie, the chicks were defending him ha), then two black dudes come in selling bootleg t-shirts.? Anyway the drunk white dudes get into it with the black dudes then and they get into a shoving match.? The nice chick and the staff member came over to me and asked to set by me and we just watched in awe.? I met a cool girl that night who's number I wish I would have gotten, but either way, totally weird night.? Then I capped it off by staying at the 34th street station all night with about 200 bums who were allowed to sleep inside because of the snow on the ground.? To this day I still haven't went back to Philly.
PS - The moral of this story is.......you can still trust people in the city! Desperation causes you not to worry about repercussions, but then again....I'm not one to easily go down. So don't try that one at home, being 22 at the time and I took a ride from a stranger!!! Pull out the McGruff Crime Dog tapes for me to watch. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Everyone knows what happened. The event is taking place as scheduled, CKY went on to perform as normal, Mixmaster Mike has an extended set, a long wait occurs, the crowd starts to get restless, people start leaving, some guy comes out and says a band member is sick and the band won't be playing, there's a riot, the million dollar soundboard was destroyed, the band didn't play a show for almost 4 more years and is barley heard from during that time. That was my first Gn'R show. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: Bill 213 on September 27, 2006, 09:14:02 PM Whoa I'm noticing a similarity in my story and "Welcome to the Jungle". Axl says a black man came up to him in NYC and was like "YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, YOU IN THE JUNGLE, YOU GONNA DIE". A black man comes up to me in Philly and says "YOU WANNA RIDE, IN A LIMO, FOR CHEAP".
Which brings me to my new hit song......"Riding In A Limo" Riding in a limo, To a guns n roses show You might get molested or even raped but it's a chance ya gotta take ya know In a limo, riding in a limo and axl doesn't even sha na nanananana show, show Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: faldor on September 27, 2006, 10:03:54 PM Mine was back in 2002. My friends and I scheduled a trip to Las Vegas right after Christmas through New Years. The basic reason for the trip was to gamble and go celebrate New Year's in Scottsdale, AZ. They have a huge New Years party there and it was the site of the college football National Championship that year (Ohio St. vs. Miami, won by Maurice Clarrett and the Buckeyes). Anyway, I'm not a big gambler so my main attraction for the trip was the partying and to see Guns N' Roses in Vegas. Of course you know what happened that early December. I was crushed. It would've been so awesome.
The story does have a happy side note though. I was able to see Guns in Hartford, their second to last show of that ill-fated tour. I had a blast. But Vegas would've been something else. It ends up on other people's shoulders and backs, but in my hair.? It's just that it's really kind of sticky.? At least now I know to put my hair up so no one will pull it.

As for me, the only bummer I can recall about any GNR show was, fighting with my BF at msg who wanted to go to the show, and I wanted to walk around through the arena, to meet up with friends I knew were there, and he was drunk as fuck, and we argued, and he was being a fuckng bitch, and left, I went to look for him , then surpirsingly, at 9:45 the openig to Jungle started and I was like fuck him!.lol And I went back and had a great time, hung out with awesome people , and after met up with firneds I was looking for earlier. At the end of that show , I didnt give a shit anymore, needless to say we arent together anymore. BUt at the time for a brief moment, the incident was a bummer to me. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: Bono on September 28, 2006, 01:29:43 AM To be honest even though I had a great time at Mustang Harry's on May 15th it was a bit disapointing that the turnout was quite small. At least when I was there. having said that I did meet alot of cool people there. I guess I was just expecting more.
Another big bummer was the day I bought End of Days soundtrack. I was so pumped to hear Oh My God and after I did I had such an empty feeling. Probably the biggest let down I've ever had when it comes to hearing a new song that I had anticipated. In fact I know it was the biggest. :'( Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? I'm from England and am travelling to Florida for a family holiday on 27th October, yeh the same date as the Estero concert. ?I land stateside at 14.00 hrs and can't really see my driving the 4 hours from Orlando to Estero straight after a nine hour flight with two kids in tow. ?Although missing the concert is the sensible thing to do, having already seen GNR 3 times in the uk i still can't help considering making the concert anyway!! ?I keep hoping that they reshedule the Tampa show but i know thats not going to happen. oh well........

The downer was that he came across as totally Hollywood. Not down to earth or friendly at all. He walked around half hunch back like, starred at people, and danced with himself. He also refused to be photographed. Although it was a cool experience (1st GnR VIP party we attended) it was a sad party and a true disappointment. I will most likely be attending his Toronto Air Canada show concert, but I can't really say I care either way. In fact, I don't want to go, but my friend will be buying my ticket. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: In a coma on September 30, 2006, 04:43:42 AM My story is kind of Bittersweet. I am a huge football (soccer) fan and when England where in the world cup this summer I was desperate to go. I was lucky enough to win a competition to go to one of Englands matches. The prize was a trip on a private jet to the match, 5 star hotel champagne all the way. The problem it clashed with Download....... Arrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhh. I chose download and had a great time. I ended watching the match on the screen at Donnington. Either way it was a difficult choice. I had bought tickets with two sets of friends and I was driving. They would have had to find seperate ways there and it would have ruined it for them. The gig was great, worth it for bbf solo alone. I also got asked by a spanish lady if I was in GNR. I had a stetson, old school gnr shirt on and what looked like backstage passes round my neck. I was so tempted to say "Yes I am" but instaed just made her repeat it so everyone heard. I should have ran off saying "no photos,no photos". Either way my friends and I had a great weekend, bar - b q's great bands a ton of beer. It was only slightly spoiled by my friend calling me from the plane (it was a work competition) when they opened the Bollinger chanpagne. I still made the right choice.

Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: 14 years on October 13, 2006, 11:44:46 AM My biggest dissapointment was not seeing Gn'r play when they came to australia in 93. They didnt play in my city and i was too young to travel - i will never forget seeing the ads in the newspaper and seeing that my city wasnt included in the dates. that hurt man! id followed gnr fanatically for so long before that and always prayed for that day when i would finally see them live.
Another sad day for me was when steven adler left the band. I just knew that Gnr were never going to be the same again without one of their brothers gone. GNr was such a tight knit group and i think this decision was one that really began to divide the band. They never fully recovered from this i think. when izzy left they were all over in my eyes. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: charlesfosterkane on October 13, 2006, 04:44:41 PM being a gnr fan ... since I'd say January 94 has been all about bummers. my personal bummer was a bummer because it was at a point when finally the sun was shining through the clouds: my then girlfriend and i got tickets to the show minneapolis in 02.
i don't drive for reasons i won't go into so my wife had to drive... it was a couple hour drive from wiscosin where we went to school. she'd never driven in a city before and she was so shook up about the whole situation that she locked the keys in the car in the parking garage. i can't remember how we got them out-- it was tricky, but inexpensive-- but she was REALLY upset about it which rubbed off on me. so we went to the show with that cloud hanging over us and then we watched the show surrounded by the slash fan club or whatever-- booing and heckling and spilling beer all over us etc. oh, our seats were awful. the 75 doller nosebleeds. the whole thing was awful. except for madagascar. that was transcendent. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: kunzerd on October 13, 2006, 10:24:12 PM 1) Showing up at the Philly '02 gig at 5pm, hanging out in the parking lot grilling food, drinking, having a great time. going in at 10:30. We're sitting there for a few minutes of mix master mike when i decide to get a beer. I walk over to the stand and they tell me they arent selling and more. I look around and all the little shops are pulling the gates down early. I was thinking 'hmm, thats weird...'.
So I head back into the arena and sit down in my seat as MMM finishes up his set. We continue to wait another 30 minutes as people chant 'ASSHOLE' (now i was drunk at this point and was hearing them wrong, so i was probably the only guy chanting 'AXL' until my brother leans over and goes 'I dont think thats what they are saying'). The crowd starts to get restless and I decided to head down to one of the mixing boards and ask one of the stage hands what the deal is. Just as I get up to him a basket ball flies literally milimeters past my face, coming from the higher levels. I get to the dude on the other side of the railing and ask him whats up, he tells me axl never showed up. A few seconds later they announce it over the PA. At this point I saw more stuff flying from the higher levels, so I grabbed the people i was with and we got out of there. As soon as we stepped out side, police and fire crews were everywhere. As far as i can understand it, the arena knew well in advance that the band would not go on, but kept us in the dark while they waited for emergency crews to show up in case anything happened. bastards. 2) I had tickets to the philly show the next night, and front row tickets to washington the following monday. i still have those tickets, hoping one day the band will reschedule.?? ?actually, im pretty sure i broke the news that they were cancelling the tour, or atleast the washington show, but youd have to find the old news posting to know for sure. (edit:http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/news/shownews.php?newsid=593 , neat, now i feel special) 3) hammerstein, may 17th. actually pre hammerstein, but it was definitely may 17th. me and three freinds were coming up from south jersey. my freind dan had the tickets, four of them in his coat pocket. were standing in the train station and i see him in his coat. having been there on the 12th, i tell him to ditch the coat cause it will be hot as hell in there. so he goes out to the car, which is a good football field away, tosses the coat in and comes back. we continue waiting, and finally they make the announcement that the train is arriving in about 30 seconds. i turn to my friend chris and say 'you got the tickets?' and hes like 'yeah, there in dans coat.... oh shit!' i ask dan where the tickets are and hes like 'fuck' then bolts for the car. at this point the train is pulling into the station and by the time it comes to a stop dan is trying to make his way back. they sound to bell that they are closing the doors and dan isnt back yet, so i stand in the doorway to halt them. just before one of the train workers can come up to stop me, dan rushes through the door and we hop into the first seats we see. the door quickly shuts and we are on our way. 4) hammerstein, may 17th: evening.? since we took the train in, we had to take the train out. anyone whos ridden into NY knows that last train is gone at 1:20am. its about 1:05 five and they start the opening of nighttrain, were all getting nervous that the show wont end anytime soon, but in the back of my mind im thinking maybe, just maybe we will be ok. they get through the first 30 seconds of the song when axl makes them stop and they start over, then he introduces kid rock. im like damn this is pretty cool, then i look at the time and im like damn we have to get out of here. i round up my crew and we make our way to the door, eyes on the stage the whole time. eventually we get out the door and to the train station, but the train is on track 11, and if anyones been there before, tracks 1 through 10 are clearly visible, but tracks 11 through 14 are down some oddball hallway that i guess your not supposed to know about unless you know the secret handshake. so we finally spot the steps for track 11 and get down to the platform just into time to watch the train start to take off. it was close, so close that i could put my hand out and touch it. we start chasing it, but it speeds away and out of site. so there we are, four of us, stuck in grand central station until 5:30 in the morning. i slept on the floor of the train station. worst sleep ever. by the time i got to jersey and drove home it was almost 8 am and i had to be at work in 30minutes. i curled up into bed, got two hours sleep, and showed up at 11. my plan for MSG is to just stay in the city. no way im reliving this nightmare. The May 15th Hammerstein show,on the floor having a good time waiting for the guys, all is well met a nice guy who shared a smoke,so i'm just way mellow.my friend is ok.Then we hear Jungle opening, everyone goes Nuts jumping and freaking out (myself included!) pyro goes off,Lovely,i'm rockin out Loving it! not 2 songs later she is trippin' and not in a good way.panic attack, getting too hot.so she pulls me over to her, screaming get me to the side and i'm like Dude,it's fucking GN'R go over there yourself. now i try to be a nice person, and i see she freaking out so i get her to the side, she goes back to where the people who are too hot are and i go back to the show.she calls me like 30 mins later,i go meet her in the lobby, missing More music, and we proceed to where are tickets are for,2nd mezz. yah, after being on the floor this just aggravates me. May 17th,Mustang Harry's....we get there in half decent time,She doesen't want to go upstairs,i'm like Fine, stay down here and drink,i'm gonna go meet people.Met some of the coolest people there, have a good time and all,get ready to take off for the concert,go fine friend, and she says i'm gonna stay here with these Old Foreign guys i've met that are buying me drinks and having fun.I politely tell her when she & said men start with oh stay for awhile, that i didn't come up to NYC to have a drink with some asses i've never met,so piss off. i'm going to the show.we agree to meet up later as we do have cell phones and off i go with the people from the board.I had a great time, ignored my cell til 400 am and met up with said friend for the train ride to Jersey. Moral of the story,Don't buy friends who aren't totally fanatic tickets for 2 shows and expect them not to bring you down and piss you off.the show in Nashville i will go solo and meet up with fans at a pre party hopefully, always had good luck with GN'R fans.? :smoking: so whenever in January it is re schedualed i'll just be happy she is in NJ and not anywhere near me.!?
ps. i get the title Bitch cause i'm a bit (haha) stressed that we miss the train to the May 17th show and have to ride all the frigging hell over Jersey to get the next one thats Not an hour later and would cause us to get to the city at 9pm. just cause she couldn't get her ass out of bed before 4pm. ::) Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: a. on October 14, 2006, 10:56:14 PM Vancouver, both times (first time with Metallica and Faith No More, and second time in 2002 when I flew my girlfriend out for her b-day on a flight the afternoon of the show booked to go back at 6:00 AM the next morning so we wouldn't miss any work. Basically we wasted our time and money for an overnight in Vancouver, how lame was that - funny thing was the grown men crying outside the venue! LOL. I bet Axl would never guess that 30 and 40 year olds were outside of GM Place balling! hehe).

i dont have any bad ones realted to GN'R, but for their TO concert, this will be the first time me and my friend go to toronto alone, maybe ill have a story after that, hopefully not though, cause i want to have a good time! Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: Cleopatra2U on October 15, 2006, 04:07:33 AM my GN'R bummer was nothing to do with GN'R and all to do with my friend... Post by: Crashdiet on October 15, 2006, 10:13:12 AM On my layover from saskatoon to toronto, then to new york for the hammerstein shows.... my flight to new york kept getting delayed, delayed, then cancelled.... it was 6pm at this point, then the airline told me there were no seats available until the next day. I kindly but forcefully told her that THERE WAS NO FUCKING WAY i was missing the first gnr show in 4 years and that I WAS GETTING on the next plane. She saw things my way and someone else gave up their seat for me. Then when I got to the airport I got on the wrong train and was about 10 seconds away from taking the train to philly not penn station.... and then getting to my hostel and having the dude tell me he didn't have my reservation and that he couldn't help me.... he told me to leave but When I asked if he had a extra bed he he said YES... it all worked out and I made it just in time to chug three jack daniels and fight my way to the front to see axl and the boys.
I almost shit my pants five times that day... but I made. Had i only know that 6 days later i'd meet the man and the band i'd have told you you were a fool Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: russtcb on October 16, 2006, 07:48:55 PM the time they pushed back the october 22nd nashville show till january? :P I have friends of mine that are totally bummed about where the Detroit date fell. We all pretty much work in retail and that weekend is HELL for retail workers in America. I know alot of guys who just aren't going to be able to make it because of the timing of the show. It's unfortunate. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: tomass74 on October 17, 2006, 09:09:04 AM 2 canceled shows.. 8th row and 10th row tickets when Gilby Broke His Arm....
Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: madagas on October 17, 2006, 09:45:48 AM My other big bummer after no album in 15 years is the departure of Izzy...wasn't happy with that. :(
Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: Lord Kayoss on October 17, 2006, 12:07:02 PM For me it was 2002. The big return, the talks of the album coming, the tour, then BOOM - nearly four more years of silence.
Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: Slashahaulic on October 17, 2006, 12:56:53 PM the time they pushed back the october 22nd nashville show till january? :P This probably tops my list too. I was lucky that when I saw them in 92 in Chicago that I had tickets for the 1st show and not the 2nd (cancelled) one. They did a lottery for that show, so we got in with another group and had 4 chances for a good number and one of the other people drew #2 - we ended up 7th row right in front of Slash's set up, and the other 2 never showed up. Odd. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: spacebrain5000 on October 17, 2006, 08:29:03 PM well being a relatively new fan, I would have to say, watching the bootleg from the st louis show.
it's hard to watch your hero in his lowest point. Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: IREEKOFAWESUMNES on October 17, 2006, 09:32:49 PM i have 2....
#1 would definitely be december 6th 2002...philly...enough said...$300 for a 4th row ticket for nothing #2 would be 10 min ago when i get home and see fucking papa roach are opening at MSG...COME ON AXL....bullet arent my favorite band but i at lest can respect them...papa roach are FUCKING HORRIBLE...id rather listen to a dog take a wet shit into the mic for 2 hours than that faggot poser jacoby, or coby, or whatever hes calling himself these days with the rest of the jokes in his band...whats next, limp bizkit opening the second leg? i dont get it, i really dont Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: schtingmon on October 18, 2006, 08:41:07 AM My biggest disappointment is having to cancel my tickets for the show in Jacksonville, Florida. Never got a chance to see GNR in their heyday (hey I use to live in West Virginia --- nothing for miles). I finally thought I was going to see them, then BOOM....date change. Unfortunately the date was Halloween. My 5 Year Old Daughter will always come before AXL.
Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? I love aXL AND HIS MUSIC , HE IS JUST TAKING ME FOR A REAL BAD MIND TRIP RIGHT ABOUT NOW Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: babydolls on October 18, 2006, 10:19:53 AM GnR not playing in scotland until 2006 - spare a thought for those Scottish fans like me that were too young to get to wembley or milton Keynes in the 90's, but were desperate to see em. ?I even set off for milton keynes with my mums credit card - but didnt even get as far as my local train station - my parents knew full well the lengths I would go to...!
second one was in 2001 when I was in Australia for a year and was reading a hugely expensive copy of an imported NME and noticed in the tour dates section that GnR were finally due to play the UK. ?devastated. ?considered flying home but couldnt afford it by any stretch. ?luckily for me that was a tour that never was! Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: markreed on October 18, 2006, 10:21:47 AM My personal bummer was having tickets for 6 of the 2001 Europe shows - and then finding the shows were ALL cancelled. I got to see The Cure instead of GNR at Roskilde, and I couldn't return the tickets for that just because GNR flaked out of the shows.
(Though that is somewhat old news now, I doubt anyone would sell tickets for shows if the band hadn't signed contracts to play them). Title: Re: Your Biggest GN'R Bummer? Post by: The Dog on October 18, 2006, 11:43:42 AM russtcb your first post/story was a classic. I would have been the same exact way, totally staining my pants haha
My personal GNR bummer was feeling kinda sick the night of the last hammerstein show, thinking I have already seen them twice, didn't really need to go again, selling my tix to a friend and then getting a txt message from a HTGTH bud saying "IZZY IS HERE" or something like that. Felt like someone punched me in the balls. I was really depressed for a day or two after. But since hes joined axl on stage in other gigs it hasn't bothered me too much.
