Title: Help debunk some Axl Myths
Post by: Groovie In VT on September 25, 2006, 12:23:34 PM
I got friends that blast me for loving GnR and are always crying how Axl is always late for shows and they say half the time he leaves early or don't even play and then there is all the riots. I told them that they are exagerating things way out of reality. So could  you help me out?

How many times has GnR cut a show short? How many times have they done a No Show? How many actual Riots have there been?

I won't argue that Axl and Co. are always late though they never seem to understand that I dont mind that and I think it builds the excitement level.

Being consistently late is sort of suggesting that it's a regular start time.  11PM every night means the show begins at 11pm.... how can you be late when thats the time you always start?  :peace:

I don?t really remember, I think 3 riots out of hundreds of shows and billions of people that have seen them live.
st louis 91
montreal 92
philly 2002

sacramento 93 they cut the show short because Duff got hit with a bottle of water.

true, venues should stat thinking 'bout changing the starting times. And now I actually don't think that gnr would be late if they did that.

damn! I write really sloppy today, what I mean is that if gnr always starts around 11pm then why not change the estimated start time?

Detroit 2002 - cut short.
Nottingham 2006? Is this the one that lost the encore after that idiot threw coins or whatever?

true, but i almost missed the opening at MSG in 2002 cause they actually came on by 10pm (i think). if it wasn't for my buddy INSISTING we go in before 10, i would have missed it.

to answer the original question in the thread....

NO, i don't think we can help you out. cancelling without explanation or a makeup date is inexcusible IMO. once is too many.

so some people choose to criticize and not support a band that does that. and that is their right. can't really argue with it.

personally, i feel the live performance is too good to totally turn your back on. any time Axl takes the stage it has the potential to be the best performance you've ever seen.

"Billions" of people haven't seen them live, which would be like 1/6 or 1/7 of the world.  But 4 riots out of all of those shows, considering how many artists have never have had riots (that they started), is quite a bit for a band.

send it to mythbusters...maybe they can help :hihi:

even cutting a show short...i dunno if they ever have other than the riot ones....Detroit 02 was done after patience so basically they just missed the encore, and nighttrain so since nighttrain usually closes the show i guess that is a short show

I sat next to some guy in NYC who was surprised Axl was late and he had to leave the show at 11:30 to catch a bus... that sucked

In Albany 2002 I sat in front of a couple  of snotty chicks that bitched the whole time that Gnr was not on stage exactly 20 mins after Mixmaster Whoever played. They went on and on about having to be at work in the AM and how they would never pay to see another GnR show. I finally heard enough and said to them, I have waited the better part of 10 yrs or so to see them again, you really think that another couple hours is gonna get to me? That shut em up right fast.
