Title: Best song of last night ?
Post by: Irish gunner II on September 24, 2006, 06:06:04 PM
I have to say nightrain. The new line up really play it well, and axl sings it unreal. I mean maddy was good. RQ was good. PC i thought aswell. It was an overall good concert.

id have to say madagascar. i hadnt heard a good bootleg of the 06 version untill last night. if the drums were a bit quiter it would have been the best madagascar performance IMO

I thought that IRS was hands down the absolute best version of the tour so far.

'IRS' was by far the song of the night. Axl just got better as the song progressed. 'Madagascar' was wonderful as well...

i thought they did all the songs equally well.  i thought that they are playing the new songs, irs, better ... much better then they did back from hammerstein.

They are so much tighter as a group now than they were in NY.

Better is PERFECT in the studio...but without Bucket's solo it just isn't as great..still a good song though.  MADAGASCAR was the best..like the new guitars they added in during MLK's speech.

I somewhat agree about 'Better'. The live version, while kicks ass, doesn't have the strength of the guitars crunching like the studio version, nor does Axl really sing it like he should/could (live)...

The main problem with "better" is that Axl can't nail the vocals live. The only show i've heard him nail "Better" is download, where he just stood there and sang it.? I thought Madagascar was the best song last night.

The Blues get my vote - The new string samples toward the end of the song are absolutely spectacular, and I've grown to love the new way it's being played.

Axl also wisely mixed his current, stronger vocals with the higher '02 ones, and wow... Aside from the studio version, this will probably go down as my favorite performance of the song.

Of the new songs, The Blues followed by IRS. Of old songs, November Rain kicked ass. Maybe that's because it's the first time I've heard it by the new band.

And I have to mention Axl's laugh in the middle of My Michelle was the greatest thing I've heard.

have you guys noticed that they have changed fincks solo in better, where axl sings nah nah nah nah.. they have added some stuff to fincks solo and some sound effects that i think pitman are gone.. compare the version of better from inland invasion with for example the version of bettr from rock am ring

I think IRS was the best. i just listened to it for the third time. Holy shit do they fucking nail it. Easily the best version of it they have done.

I've noticed at two live shows, and two webcasts, that the heavy riff in Better seems to be dominated by the bass and drums rather than the guitars - Is this just acoustics or do you think it's the way it's supposed to be?

Axl had the crowd eating out of his hand. LA times review did not give this GN'R performance justice. One thing I thought was interesting: When they played November Rain everybody went nuts, even more than on Sweet Child. Usually it's the other way around (from the shows I've been to). Anyway, I thought the crowd response was great. Overall, according to me, I'd have to say Better was the best song of the night.

Irs - might not be the best performance of this song but I buy the overzealous vocal.

On better I think they did the chorus diffirently than usual.
axl didn't sing deep-falsetto. instead there were new high back vocals added and sounded like axls own voice.

I just listened to Madagascar from I.I. and the solo during the speech was awesome.  I like many people said they needed to change it, with a solo or just drop the speech, but the solo is a great addition
