I wish tonight would have sounded like Rock Am Ring.  Tonight's show  was more important than Rock Am Ring

I really liked tonights show, but I think the best I've seen live, heard, or watched like this, would have to be Download. The fact that they saved the show from complete disaster gives it major plus points, and 5 new songs, Izzy's 1st time in Europe, 1st non acoustic performance of Used To Love Her (with an attempted sing-a-long lol) and I loved listening to Ron sing the end of YCMB!!

I think when we hear the real audio of this show people will be very impressed. ?I don't care if NASA was doing the "live stream," live streams just never give you the best sound.
Now, given that, I thought it was amazing so I can only imagine how good the sound must have been for the real fans at the show. ?

The "best show" stuff is all subjective. ?Were there songs I felt were the best of 2006? ?Hell fuckin yeah! ?Patience, Maddy, IRS, My Michelle, It's so Easy, SCOM were all bests in my eyes... KOHD was "Americanized" in my eyes. ?I prefer the Budapest version where Axl goes into stratospherically high vocals. ?However, I think alot of American fans prefer songs that sound similar to the album recordings. ?Axl's banter with the audience in KOHD was priceless though. ?Great shit! ?

Definitely one of the best shows of the tour...and that was based on a streaming web-cast! ? ?I can't wait to hear it for real. ? : ok:

PS I think the Rock-Am show was great, but folks are swayed a bit by the better camera angles of Rock-Am.  Don't get me wrong, both are great shows.  It's kinda like who's hotter? Jessica Alba or Scarlett Johansson.   ;D

Good show I think each show has it's own beauty.
Will this be the last show of this setlist? I haven't experienced it yet. :(

Wembley 29 was the best show.
Last real show of the UK Tour... Sailing, Back in the Fuckin' UK, Izzy, Rocket queen, ... damn good.

It was great, but I can't say it was the best, because I simply haven't been to all of the previous shows this year.  :hihi:  Nor watched them.

I've only been at one that was better than tonight's.

Rock Am Ring so far has been the best of the 2006 shows.
Rock am ring is the best full gnr live video ever, but i think 2 songs from download are something best in the gnr live world

The best was Vegas, the Saturday show. The small venue and the bands energy have been unmatched.

Saturday?   Saturday was great, but I really thought the sound and everything was so much better on Sunday.

Tonight was amazing no doubt about it.  Its hard to compare it to the show last Sunday cuz of actually being there.   This band is getting better and better.  8)    I will be at any North American show I can make it to..

RAR wasn't the best show. You're judging the show by its (excellent) recording...

IMO, from what I heard/saw, it would be the Download festival one..

Rock Am Ring so far has been the best of the 2006 shows.

It's the best show...that's available on video.

They've had better performances this year than Rock am Ring.

Last night's gig was great.
Call me crazy, but in my opinion RIR 5 was far better - both the broadcast and the concert itself.

Yes, absolutely. I noticed that too.
Anyway overall, I thing RAR is still the best broadcast (sound and video quality).

I would say Download was the best show too.? Turned up on time, had technical issues to deal with and did so.? Had walked off stage a couple of times adding to the atmosphere, Izzy making an apperarence too.? Not to mention playing at a venue that had bad Karma for GnR and over coming those memouries that this venue held for him (and Izzy).? Its true to say he didn't know about the deaths at the time, but I would be very suprised if memouries of that day in 88 didn't resurface this time out at Donnington.

For me this performance, gave the finger to all those wanting Axl to fall flat on his face, he had plenty of reasons to fuck off, but worked through them and kicked ass.

Oh and he made a veiled mention of my homeland, the Isle of Wight by saying "this is the Isle of Wrong" acknowledging the Isle of Wight festival was taking place on the same day.? If only he'd do the Isle of Wight.....

Best show of this tour would have to be the second Oslo gig.

That was - as a friend of mine said who joine me up there - "fuckin' razorsharp!"

Ofcourse I could be biased (as I was there) but I was also in Budapest and at Roskilde and have 4-5 shows on boot.

All in all, this band is boiling hot and on the mark. And Axl? Better than ever. Better than ANYONE out there. It's incredible.

Of the last tour - if this one is included - the whole "emotion" and "feel" and Axl HIMSELF - well, Rio III is a modern day classic. You all wait.. Rolling Stone is going to include that show as one of the best from 2000-2010, when they make their decade live show list.

 :peace:

I agree that this show was awesome!!  The band looked and sounded great... Axl's voice was SPOT ON the whole show...  Rocket Queen!!!  And Madagascar sounded really good too, one of the better performances I've heard...

No, there will be many, many, many more shows with this setlist, don't you worry about that. I don't think much will change until CD is out or is very close to coming out.  Same setlist or not, I can't wait to see them if they are still coming to Cleveland in November!!

Hammersmith and the first Wembley show were stormers for me. Hammersmith because I was at the front and managed to touch Robin and Bumblefoot, plus strum Bumblefoot's guitar during 'Paradise City'. Wembley because of the sheer quality of the set and the fact that no-one blinked when the house lights came up and carried on playing.

The second Wembley show was writing itself into the record books before Axl unfortunately got sick, and thus entered the record books for the wrong reasons.

I cannot wait for Axl to bring the boys back to the UK!

man, the hell with the broadcast comments! "it was too fixated on Axl" "the camera work sucked" who cares!!!! Musically this is definitely one of their best shows this year! only topped, and I say this pretty much based on the setlist and excitement from the crowd, by May 12th Hammerstein Ballroom...They played TWAT, BETTER & IRS fot the first time, ChiDem, Axl's voice was PERFECT! so that's why that's the best show of '06 so far. But last night's really showed how every band member has improved, with their solo playing and as a band. And their stage presence has gone a mile up since the webcast of RIR 5 ......so I'd rank the first three:

1.May 12th Hammerstein
2.Inland Invasion
3.July 29th Wembley

Shiryu.

Rock Am Ring is definitely one of the best as far as I know but Saturday's Vegas show was just insane.. i've never heard Axl sound better and he was even a little sick!  i was in a similar spot for sunday's show and the vocals weren't as good...

It'd be nice if you would put a date up for the "best show"

Secondly, check out the rest of the 2006 shows first.

I don't think anyone here is justified in making that call, unless one of us has gone to every single show.  It's so much better Live than at home on the computer, or YouTube...

It was a great gig indeed. I won't say it was the best because I haven't seen them all but I say it was great.

Knowing that it is at least a hundred times better to see a gig in the front row then it is to see it on webcast, congratulations to anyone who really was there!  ;D

Rock in Rio 3 gets my vote, just a tremendously energetic and exciting performance - but the first Hammerstein show this year in NY was so damn memorable too.

Yeah, I thought also that they were not exactly in the best shape while they were in Helsinki,  but it was still a hell of a performance when you saw it in the front rows!  :)

yeah i understand that... it kicked major ass yeah, but it was something special about axl in oslo... he made loads of jokes about the sweden incident and talked a lot and was happy all the time... the setlist on show 1 was massive (for that part of the tour...)

Maybe should have called this the best broadcasted show of the new GN'R. There's a lot of shows that you won't be able to get a soundboard or great recording from to compare with each other. From the soundboard ones, I would say Donnington just cos they proved they weren't a bunch of quitters and came through the technical problems and getting shit thrown at them to play not far off a 3 hour set.

From the shows i was at (Dublin and Glasgow), Glasgow was the best just cos of the crowd, Axl's banter with the crowd (He's Scottish and all  ;D), the songs coming at the right time, and the solos not disrupting the flow as much. Oh, and Mr Izzy Stradlin!

But all in all new GN'R are certainly one of the best live acts around now, not many bands atm can touch em.
