I went into Spencers today (spencers is a store with music related items and novelty gifts etc.)
They had a ton of GNR items, t-shirts, clocks, ceramic posters, beer mugs, glasses, etc..
I bought mugs and glasses

Anyway guy at the counter tells me that in September Guns N' Roses will be the featured artist, meaning a lot more merchandise, new stuff, special sales etc...I asked him who made the decsion to name September GNR month and he said corporate office deals directly with the band/management and work it all out, (he like had no clue about GNR or it's history)  but anyway

Why would GNR enter into such an agreement if there was nothing to sell? Or Promote?

It's for sure in the US, but I'm not sure about anywhere else.

Could just be cross-promotion for the tour. On the plus side, management seem infinitely more organised this time round, so I'm sure we'll get a proper update at some point.

Black Label Society was the featured artist in July and you could win a guitar lesson with Zakk Wylde. THey hade BLS shot glasses, mugs, pint glasses, wall arts, mirrors with the BLS logo in the middle, blankets, flasks, clocks, bags, and other shit. So expect the same for GnR.

Seize the Day to be exact, plus Ozzfest and a mini-tour from Alaska down to Iowa...i'll be at the Iowa one.  Opening Acts : BFMV and Protest the Hero (amazing)

The only prob. I have with the current GNR merch (as of about 2 weeks ago) is that they only had a GNR wallet (old logo) and barstool and wallplaque (both old logos).

Merck, wink, wink, if you're reading this...new logo, posters with the band, collector's edition poster with every musician who has had a part in the making of Chinese Democracy!  This would be oh so nice!!!  Can you imagine how big that poster would be?

Wow I haven't been to Spencer's gifts since I was about 13, which coincidentally is about the time that GNR peaked.  I guess I'll have to go back there next month and check that out.

I was at the Spencer Gifts at the North Shore Mall in Peabody, MA and they have a lot of GNR stuff.  I asked the maanger why they had so much GNR stuff.  She said that GNR is huge with the teenage kids.  Plus, she told me that one of the GNR shirtss in the store is the #1 t-shirt seller in the whole company.  She told me that next month the company was having a "huge" GNR promo in the store.  I aked her what the promo was for, however she had no idea.  She said that the company's management just clued her in the other day but did not elaborate on exactly what was going on.  HMMmmmmm . . .

I agree, this is basically a marketing campaign by Spencer and possibly Guns N' Roses to push merchandise, while the US tour starts up.  Nothing unusual.

Yeah I think they just threw that in since its out there that Axl said fall. This is the 3rd artisit of the month I think they have had... Most of the merch was already in the stores before.

Yes! I got an awesome belt buckle at Hot Topic, and wore it to RIR, also got a leather jacket at Wilson's Suede and Leather, don't really like the way they have the jacket done but bought it anyway cause well I just had to, it was cool!  will probably wear them to Vegas show as well.

Pretty cool GNR merch but a bit tacky looking at the same time, I remember sewing that cross onto the back of a denim jacket years ago, it actually looks pretty cool now cos its about 17 years old and its a bit battered looking, haven't worn it in years, don't think it'd fit anymore. Anyway, yeah I think the store just put that thing about the autumn release in there cos Axl said it but we'll just have to wait and see...what months count as Fall anyway...September to November??

That jacket looks different than the Wilsons Leather one to me, The cross logo looks bigger and it looks like its got studs or something close to the neck.

i have the white biker jacket in great condition. i bought on ebay a few years ago and used it a few times for my tribute band nightrain. it is however plain. i didn't get around to get a patch or to get anything airbrushed on it. you just can't find it anymore.

They have crap like that in Hot Topic too. That GNR shirt Spencer is adverstising, I've never seen that shirt outside of their store. Plus, putting the GNR logo on flasks and shotglasses and stuff, doesn't make it official GNR merch.

Like the other day, went into a Hot Topic, and there was a Green Day logo on a scented candle...it just looked terribly fake, like someone put a Green Day sticker on a candle and passed it off as authentic.

All I'm saying is, I'm glad GNR is getting the attention they deserve, but I would never spend my money of stuff from Spencers, it's just cheap gag material.

Isn't the photo they use for the ad taken by gnr's official photographer? So, given that Spencer's are not dumb enough to use it to make profit without permission , this could mean gnr management gave them permission for the whole ad, including "CD in stores this fall"?

it`s definitely a new pic management uses to promote axl/gnr 2006, as it was used as the cover on several magazines and what not....  but i`m not aure about this one... i mean if they just used it, or if management asked them to do so.  i`d imagine stores tend to use old pics mostly....

its been a year since I painting it.its looks the same as the original product, and its more cheap ;D.

Spencers would not be allowed to use the pictures and the logos without Guns N' Roses permission.  That is a fact.  In most cases promotions are put together by company supplying the merchandise and the company selling the merchandise.  This is no doubt a promotion for the upcoming tour.   As far as the record being released this fall, who the fuck knows?  Remember they are ADVERTISING this.  They must have the permission of whoever owns that picture before using this.  Trust me I know this, I worked for a company that got into trouble for not buying the rights to a picture and began using it in their flyers.

The other thing which doesn't sit well with me on this whole GNR Spencers thing is the design of the merch. That shirt just looks odd and everything else has old GNR logo's on it. Doesn't make much sense to have a pic of the new Axl Rose, advertise the new album, and then show merch of the old band.

I guess I'll have to check out Spencer's when I get to the mall.  I usually go to Spencer's when I go, but never buy anything, I guess I'll have to change that.

I'll be in one a little later today, but I honestly think they've got all the stuff they're gonna have. The t-shirits, bar stools, signs, posters, etc. If you've seen their selection up until now, I think that's gonna be about it, maybe they'll add some sort of discount this month or something.

Anyways, if I see something new there later, I'll report back.

I was in one this past weekend, and they said starting today, you would be able to sign up for some contest to win a trip to a show or something.

Well then I guess I shall make an extra special effort to ensure I stop by there.

I went yesterday and they still had the display for "Avenged Sevenfold" up. They had no new merchandise, except a GNR bar stool.  :no: I was so sad. But I'm going to go back this weekend and hopefully by then they will have something new. And I hear that everything will still have the old logo.

Yeah, the Spencer's here in Detroit has a lot of cool stuff but I believe it's stuff that everyone has mentioned. Not sure if anyone saw the beer mugs that came out around the same time the shot glasses did..they are real cool looking, they came in a box with two of them. I'll be at the Spencer's here in Detroit sometime this weekend so I'll let you guys know if they have anything new!

Just got back from the Spencer Gifts in Rockford, IL.  No GN'R display to be seen.  There's just like a rock n' roll display, featuring:  GN'R, Metallica, Kiss, Him, Zep, and some others.  I did pick up a GN'R bar stool for $40 though.  They also had GN'R shot glasses, tall glasses, beer mugs, flasks, and some wall art.

I emailed spencer's, and they said the promotion is not canceled, and I was told to keep checking back "soon". Seems like they run things like GNR does. :P

I walked past Spencer's at the mall yesterday. They're running a competition to win a signed guitar, according to the GNR banner out front.

Thats what it is, I went into a Spencers yesterday and the contest is to win an autographed guitar. I was hopping for a discount on gnr merchandise but no go, I want that danm bar stool but I was hoping to only have to shell out 25-30 bucks for it.

I wish they have a "new logo" barstool.  I'd be all over a set of those.

I went today and they had pretty much nothing, 1 set of beer mugs, 1 set of drinking glasses, 1 set of shot glasses and 2 bar stools...

needless to say I bought all but the bar stools as I already have 1 :P
I also asked the clerk if they were gonna be getting any new stuff and she said as far as she knows she doesn't even think they are getting anymore of the stuff I just bought

stopped into my local spencers in the jamestown/lakewood NY area. they had the sign out(god, i want that fucker on my wall, hopefully at the end of the promotion they will let it slip into my hands :P). other than that, they had the usual stuff, nothing new yet. i will check back a couple of times a week though ;D

Today was the fourth time I went to Spencer this month and still no GNR merchandise.  The only thing they have is a sign outside the store that says GN'R as the artist of the month.  They some t-shirts and stool but those were old stuff that has been there before.  No new poster or t-shirts.

I dont see why they'd have an old picture there...

The site was created to promote 'Greatest Hits'.  I would think it will change when/if we see another GN'R release.
