Title: My Chemical Romance
Post by: R4tfink on April 19, 2005, 08:04:03 AM
Has anyone heard of this band?
If you havent...then if you like AFI check them out.
When i say AFI i mean Latter AFI the more EMOish sounding AFI.

However they rock.

Opinions?

All I've heard  is I'm Not Ok, Helena, and Thank You For The Venom. I agree there's something likeable about them, but I'm not sure yet how special I think they are.

Ok..instead of NOT downloading porn..download some MCR.
Ive had both albums on all day and im gonna go out and buy them both next month!

Bit EMOish than i normally cater for but the lead singer has an awesome voice and the guitarist has class!

Love this band! I only have their second CD so far but I listen to it almost non stop. They played with Green Day down here but I couldnt get tickets :crying:. Just saw the video for Helena this morning actually.

One of the few CD's out know that, in my opinion, doesnt have any filler. Ghosts of You is my favorite by far. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on this band, but they are at least worth checking out.

i hate this band "my chemical romance"

1. There name is so lame
2. The singer strangely looks like micheal jackson (yes recent)
3. Terrible songs.
4. Crap videos

and its all IMO.

Title: Re: My Chemical Romance
Post by: R4tfink on April 19, 2005, 06:56:04 PM
1. The name is cool, its one of the first things that set them apart in a current MTVWORLD of "the" bands...an interesting and imaginative band name.(It has nothing to do with the fact that i have a Chemical Romance with Weed)

2. The singer looks nothing like Michael Jackson, so what if he does though, the man has sold millions of records and despite everything is still idolised and worshipped by millions.

3. I think the songs are great in line of a lot of the 80's throw back albums being released by "The bravery" and all the other "The" Bands, apart from The Darkness and The killers of course.

4. Havent really seen the videos apart from bits of "Helena" which i enjoyed because the chick is hot and the music in the background(the important bit) i liked!

So IMO They Rock.

a perfect example of todays shit music.

I hate it when people say this...theres plenty of good music around at the moment, how do you find your "New" music? MTV by any chance?

Go out and bastard find your music from other means...The internet is awesome for this.

Why not spend more time searching for new music rather than posting your views on an unreleased album like Chinese Democracy that you havent even heard!

Ill give you an hour and i bet you find something u like online! ;)

You mean the Queen & David Bowie song?  That should be interesting - does Chemical Romance do it as a duet?

I like The Used (kinda)...I'm not so sure about CR though...mainly because the modern rock station KROQ keeps plugging them, and it bugs me

Tokyo Dragons are good. I like them also but unfortunately he obviously only watches MTV and if he wants to watch a TD video he would have to wait up until 3 in the morning in the UK to watch it.

They are frequently played on Scuzz however!

Oh ok, well i really wouldnt know...I suppose you are speaking about MTV or MTV2 but they differ country to country, i dont know where u live so i really wouldnt know.

If you live in England, their video is usually rotated on Scuzz.

Sky channel 471 - NTL Cable area's channel 934.

Its on "New Skids on the Block" quite a lot which focuses on up and coming bands from around the world.

Hope that helps. ;)

Borrowed the album off my mate and well i found it boring, felt like there was little variation and they bring nothing new to the table, i'm not one to judge really though because the whole emo thing they got going on it's not my kind of thing.

I agree emo does suck as does this band but from the video i saw he doesn't look even close to fat, not even a fat Jacko so i don't know where the fuck that came from and if he is bisexual so fuckin' what?  Do we have a homophobic contigency on this board?  Just 'cos he likes his bread buttered both sides that doesn't make him crap and it's not funny either, what i find crap about him is he is part of the emo scene and a scene i find more painful, annoying and containing less talent than the nu-metal scene.

I hate these people that call anyone who says anything slightly against gays a "homophobic" it makes people sound like they are scared of them. I think its strange to be honest, but thats the way the human race is.

Scared? Maybe not, have a problem with them maybe so.  Would you find it amusing that somedbody was black?  What's so funny about them being bisexual? (and the they normally sing about sleeping with girls theory has already been disproved above btw).

I always thought emo referred to bands like Coldplay.  But it seems to be the catch-all term for bands these days like grunge was in the 90's and hair metal in the 80's.

Last XMas, MCR was on KROQ and they did this godawful rendition of a Mariah Carey xmas song.  Then at the end, the singer said it was supposed to sound awful.  The dj's (Kevin and Bean) were rather speechless.  I didnt know whether to laugh or to cry.

Any other fans of this fuckin' killer band on here?

I only got introduced to MCR a few weeks ago through a friend's little sister who sent me a mix cd with "Helena" on it and after that first listen I was instantly addicted and had to hear more, the only problem is that every track I download is more amazing than the last. I picked up their latest album, "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" when I got off work today and it hasnt left my stereo since. You can try to classify My Chemical Romance in any genre you want, but that's just the beauty of this this unique band...you just can't say stick them into one genre because they incorporate so many different influences into their music. The simplest description for these New Jersey rockers would be emo/punk/hardcore/whatever although I just finished reading an online interview where lead singer, Gerard said they just considered themselves a kick-ass rock band. Gerard's vocals are definately the highlight of the band's brutally heartfelt music, only strengthened by Ray and Frank's killer guitar riffage, Mikey's bass, and Matt's drums. Id say anyone who liked the Used before they went all poppy or the White Stripes will find at least one song they like in this band's 2 album discography, my recommendations for those unfamiliar with MCR would be:

"Helena", the very first MCR song I heard, love at first listen
"Vampires Will Never Hurt You" is the second song I heard, and from then on, I was enamored with MCR.
"Demolition Lovers Part 1" this song is like a rollercoaster ride, slowly building to a killer climax
"Im Not Okay (I Promise) A lot softer, but still catchy
"Cemetary Drive", this song is simply must hear, beautiful vocals, and a chorus that you'll be singing for days
and finally "The Ghost of You", this song is just hauntingly beautiful..you needa hear it to believe it...

What songs does everybody else dig? Anyone seen MCR live? How were they?...I would have loved to catch them at the Rock-am Ring festival last year!

I hope you guys like this band, because they've been making the wait for Chinese Democracy that much easier : ok:

I Love MCR.  My faves of their songs are:

"Im not ok [I promise]"
"Helena"
"It's Not a Fashion Statement [It's a Deathwish]"

Some people I know dont want to listen to them becuse they think that are like "goth" or somthing?  Like Maralyn Manson.  But they are really great to listen to!

*and Gerald Way is pretty hot  ;)*

Thanks drama_qween, Ill have to give "Its a deathwish" a try.

Ive never heard people being turned off by the goth thing at all, as you can see in the first pic, its probably a stage gimmick more than anything. Although Ive had problems getting my friends into this band because of the "Emo" tag they've been given.

I guess gothic is only acceptable if your as mainstream and bland as Green Day. I think its funny how people have so many different for music nowadays, like why cant it just be that...music. If its great and you like it, brilliant, if not they tried and thats all that was asked. I think there are some gothic influences in their music and on stage wardrobe but nothing beyond that.

Check out their first CD "I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love". It is alot less polished and raw than 3 Cheers...

At least check out the song "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville" This is my favorite song of theirs.

Emos just a fad like nu metal was. Though at least nu metal was decent. But hey, just my oppinion which will either get ignored or flamed until it is nothing but ash.

Ummm they arent "emo".

"Emo" is like Simple Freaking Plan!?  My Chemical Romance actually has some decent musical ability in them.  They play good songs. They dont sting stupid "Stab My Heart Out Because She Left Me"!?  Which I have some form of respect for.  They are fairly original for the type of music that is popular now-a-days.  They're not so bad.

Thanks for the advice, Ive heard for awhile about how their first album is alot less commercial, but with no paycheck this week, I was only able to pick up 3 Cheers.

Pretty cool to see their are some fans, and haters :hihi: of MCR

i absolutly adore them, they are a wonderful band and that lead singer is damn hot!

Ive liked them for a very long time now... like back when they released their first album, im upset that they are all popular now and when i go to their concerts im like one of the oldest people there! They are one of the best bands ive ever seen live... i saw them open for the USED at taste of cahos and they absolulty put on a show 10times better than the USED did after them. I then again saw them Nov 29th and they were amazin! i cant even put into words how much i love these guys!

my favorite song by them is Honey, this mirror isnt big enough for the two of us, and i was extremly happy when they played it when i saw them and all the little 14yr olds didnt know any of the words!

My sister saw them on that tour too, and she said alot of people were screaming for MCR during the Used's set because they were not even half as good as 'Chemical. Seeing them has to be pretty insane doesnt it? Like not the usual mosh pits/ crowd surfings, but just nonstop adrenaline from the audience I bet. Hopefully Ill catch them on the next tour : ok:

Just downloaded "Drowning Lessons" and it kicks serious ass ;D

Would you call MCR emo?

Would I?

To me MCR really aren't an Emo group, there just a killer rock/punk band that has so many different styles and influences in their music they somewhere along the line got lumped into the Emo category.

I can see how some of their softer ballads like "Ghost of You" could be construed as Emo but so what if all those black haired 14 year olds love them, there a killer band and they've sure made the wait for Chinese D that much easier.

Gerard has the most original voice in rock right now I think, can be so moving like Ville Valo one second, and Screamo like Alexisonfire the next : ok:

They were a band with a dedicated following before "emo" was probably even created so I dont entirely buy that one. I think for whatever reason the Emo kids went crazy for them when their last album came out and they suddenly saw a group who dressed gothic and had the killer songs to back it up. Becoming overexposed was the last thing they wanted to happen I think, I think they would have been very content with their fanbase from their first album, but obviously since their huge in Canada at least, their not gunna start complaining about being everywhere, as being everywhere=$$$ :hihi:

I think when you discover a band that isnt well known, its much more special too you, and then obviously when their name gets out there, some of the fondness and respect is gone :-\

Im not Okay definately is an Emo track, but a fine one at that : ok:

And my favorite:

Well I picked up "I brought you my bullets" on the way home from work today, and like Laura said, it definately rocks way harder than 3 Cheers. The lyrics are definately on the "darker" side, you if your looking for happy, love music or something Id look to 3 cheers. I was really wowed with the raw and aggressive lyrics and the how they flowed with flawlessly produced guitar and bass riffs versus the at times "over produced" 3 cheers, and with a little reasearch I found that Thursday's Geoff Rickeley handled the production which explains why this album is so damn good. Best tracks on here I think are "The best day Ever", "Vampires will never hurt you" and "Cubicles".

If your still on the fence about MCR or 3 cheers turned you off, pick up this album..you wont be dissapointed : ok:

Apparently MCR are in production for a film detailing their rise to fame:

From MTV.com

MIAMI ? Already well-versed in the ways of eyeliner application, epic-video-making and Kevlar-vest wearing, the guys in My Chemical Romance are turning their attention to a new endeavor: documentary filmmaking.

When MTV News spoke with the boys in black on the eve of the Video Music Awards, they revealed some details about their latest project, a year-in-the-making film that follows the bandmembers' rise from lowly New Jersey goth-punks to "TRL" mainstays.

"It's a documentary that captures the rise and occasional stumblings of this band. It's really crazy, we had forgotten about a lot of the stuff that happens in the film," My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way said. "Like backstage stuff and concert footage. Basically, it tells the story of one really crazy year in this band's life."

The still-untitled film is in the editing stage, but guitarist Ray Toro already has one change he'd like to make.

"I think there should be a running counter on the bottom of the screen showing how many pounds we lose during the course of the year," he laughed. "Because honestly, we look pretty bad at the beginning of that thing."

Final editing decisions aside, MCR plan on having the film available on DVD sometime in late October, when the band wraps its first headlining tour. Fans of the band better savor the World War II-themed "Ghost" clip since it'll probably be the last video MCR make before they head back into the studio to begin work on the follow-up to their breakthrough Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge album.

Sounds promising and definately something Ill be keeping my eyes peeled for : ok:

Dont expect to see My Chemical Romance on the road with The Used anytime soon, it appears these bands have had a falling out:

"The Used's Bert McCracken has officially crossed two names off his Christmas list: President George W. Bush and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way.

It's really no surprise that Bush won't be getting so much as a card from the Used lead singer, thanks mostly to the ongoing war in Iraq ("It's f---ing bullsh--," McCracken opined), but Way ... well, that's a bit of a shock. It wasn't that long ago the two were exchanging verses on a charity version of the Queen/ David Bowie classic "Under Pressure". But those days are ancient history now, according to McCracken. Just don't expect him to explain the reason why.

"Um, I'd prefer not to say anything about My Chemical Romance, except that we did have a falling out. We don't speak at all anymore," he sighed. "It's got nothing to do with their success. I'm completely comfortable with where our band is at. We used to be very close, but no more. We had a falling out. The rest of my band, they're still mates with all the guys in that band. But I'd prefer to say nothing more about My Chemical Romance."

While he might be mum on his feelings about Way, McCracken is more than happy to let it rip on President Bush, especially with his side project, the Street Drum Corps, which he started with his friends in S.T.U.N., Circus Minor and the Start (see "Used Frontman Warms Up For Tour By Playing With 'Punk-Rock 'STOMP' ' "). They contributed a cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" to the just-released Taste of Christmas comp and recently shot a politically charged clip for the song at a church in Brooklyn, New York.

"The video is about a family, and the dad goes off to war, and it shows how big of a bummer it could be to have someone fighting in a war that makes absolutely no sense to anybody, especially us Americans who would love to see the rest of the world have an idea about how good America could be, as opposed to how rotten it actually is," McCracken said. "It's perfect for the song because it's all about war, sadly. But the song to me is barely a Christmas song, it's more about, 'What have you done with your year?' It's got a message."

McCracken is also hard at work on a full-length Drum Corps album, which he said mostly features found instruments. He hopes it'll also have a whole lot of guest stars."

I think they're alot better than Panic! At the Disco, who I want to strangle along with Fall Out Boy.  I have the "3 Cheers" album.  A friend burned it for me, so its not like I paid for it.  I don't listen to MCR often either.

i heard it. i hated it.

The marching band in it really irritates me...gerard sounds like a woman in this one for some strange reason....and the guitar solo sound is a rip off of bryan may.

(at least i listen to a song before i criticise so i have every right to share oppinion)

i dunno if ive posted in this thread but i saw it bumped up again.  this piece of crap i would not like to call a band IS what is wrong with the music industry as someone had previously stated.  they are complete tools and just a marketing gimmick.  have u ever heard their singer sing live, not in studio?  and since their band is too poor to afford sound equipment like GNR they really put on a god damn awful show.  "the black parade"  what the hell is that kind of name, a good name if u want to make urselves look like a bunch of fags that know how to write a crappy song.  why black and not yellow do you see what im saying?  it doesnt matter what the name of the song is its just a marketing gimmick for those goth dressing emos.

Eh, they're probably the best of what's "mainstream" in rock these days as far as teens are concerned - Which isn't to say they're anywhere near great, but MCR is the lesser of a lot of other evils.

And Welcome to the Black Parade is a fun little tune. That's about all the praise I can give them, limited as that is.

the new single is pretty good, and im interested to hear what the rest of the album will sound like.  sounds like they're heading in a newer direction musically, more like a early Queen, rock opera type thing.  I still love there 1st album "I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love", i remember listening to that album and telling people about them and there like, who the fuck? I was pissed when they became the poster band for emo along the likes of shitty bands like fall out boy & dashboard confessional :hihi:  MCR actually has lots of talented musicians

Not only have I *not* been a fan of previous efforts, I haven't been able to sit through that albums that friends have given me.  So, much to my surprise, "Black Parade" is currently playing non-stop in my car, and I can't get enough of it.  A very fun, and surprisinly solid concept album...while I can't say I'm going to revisit previous albums, "Black Parade" is excellent, and has made me a fan from here on out.

It's an impressive album.  "Famous Last Words" is incredible in and of itself, and it's far from the only great track.  No one is more surprised than me, as I was in the "can't stand them" camp before this album came out...great stuff.

MCR's gimic doesn't contain a shred of tongue-in-cheek.  Rock and Roll should be fun, inspiring, and cool as hell... not dark, whiny, and arrogant.

I'll take a new rock band like The Darkness (even though they play to cliches) over an emo band like My Chemical Romance any day of the week.   : ok:

I saw their new video earlier, and that's what prompted me to respond here.  What song was it?

But what I saw was matching skeleton outfits, gothy looking followers clad in corsets and bondage, and a parade straight through what appears to be a giant heap of shit... all pretty pretentious stuff.  Perhaps I'm judging this band on more of their image and less so on the music they play, but to me the two go hand in hand.

Can you imagine Freddy Mercury doing black makeup or skeletons?  A band's image can be over the top can and work... like Bowie, Alice Cooper, or Queen... but I feel that bands like MCR are playing on teenage angst in a very uncool and spiritless way... who wants to sit around feeling sorry for themselves.  That sense of self pity to me is what is ruining rock and roll.

basically the new album is just the same shit but with a hint of queen (done badly) and maybe slightly different lyrics, ive read them, they just seem confusing.

It might be pretentious the way they present themselves, but - unlike their previous albums, none of which I could really stomach - this one is surprisingly strong.  Even better, then, that they created these personalities and alter-egos for "The Black Parade."  In this case, I think it will work in their favor...

I totally agree with you man! I remember the first time I was exposed to My chemical romance was their video "Im not Okay" and in the video it would have a black screen and it's like "If you've ever felt depressed, sad, angry etc. etc. Then this song is for you"   EVERYONE fucking feels those emotions and basically EVERY song can relate to one of those emotions. They just tend to focus on the negative ones. Also the rest of the song was the lead singer saying "Im not okay" over and over again...

That's just not for me really... and that's probably why it will be really hard to give this band a second chance because with their whole image/whiney attitute with that first exposure I had to them.

Anyway at least they don't play on the whole angst thing as much as Hawthorne Heights.  :nervous: I remember my friend kept listening to some song by theirs and it was like "Slit my wrists and black my eyes" in the chorus. Damn your girlfriend broke up with you, its not the end of the fucking world you pussy!

i listen to "the black parade" and think "wtf is this shit?" then i go into the ye olde collection and put "looks that kill" on by motley crue and i think "now this is the shit i wanna hear" in rock music where they have all make up and dramatic stage shows and all that anyway.

He is no rhodes. But guitar players in bands like these dont get any credit at all.

People always compare to the greats and the truth is their bands aren't about awesome solos or individuals. There just about music. They play well and make a good living out of it.

Now i love a slash solo as much as anything but there are too many people who are narrow minded and think that just coz every guitarist isn't some awesome player in their own right that their guitar should be slated. Well i dont care if he can only play one chord if he plays it well and it goes with the rest of the song . . all the power to him.

There are some unbelievable guitarists out there that will never sell as many records in their life as my chemical romance so what do they lack? the image, the attitude, the promotion? Who cares. Talent and abilty of an individual is one thing putting that person in a band and making him do whats best for the song is where true greats show themselves.

YOu can slate MCR, Fallout boy and Panic at the disco all you like but they are having the time of their lives doing what alot of people, maybe more talented wish they could do. And at the end of the day the majority of people that dont like them probally haven't heard their album or had their mind made up before hand.

thats untrue to a certain extent.

I love NIN, do they have guitar solos? nope.
I love Marilyn manson, his songs dont have technical guitar solos either.
the sex pistols

i could go on.

But when this band, MCR, are so huge and over rated, and they come out with comments comparing themselves to the greats then they deserve to be slated when its quite clear they are not a patch on the people they claim to be similar to or better than.

I really don't like this band. I just listened to the new single to make sure and yup! They're still emo with a bit of bad queen like someone said earlier. The music of theirs I don't really hate I just find it boring and generic, but their image and lyrics and whole hype is so gay and contrived and cliche! Their fans around here are vile people that are all stoned out of their heads because they think their lives are so bad when they're really not. It's so pathetic. This band's a one trick pony.

edit: Here's an example of a  MCR fan. I looked at the comments after I watched/listened to the vid and the second one was this:

Guess we'll have to : ok:

So you think their overated. Thats cool.

But my point is that musicians are either misquoted or joking alot. and to some people he is a better guitarist and if people think that then thats that. i know steve vai is a good guitarist but i dont like him and would prefer to listen to MCR than him. I dont like his style.

i dont think you can say he is better than him because you like the style. My friend loves Hardcore and is in an Hardcore band and some guitar he tells me is awesome i think sounds shit. But i love the guitar in MCR 'I'm Not Okay' so to me he is a better guitarist. I dont care how fast he can play. My favourite guitarist is Slash because of what he brought to GNR. But i love Jonny Greenwood stuff too.

You opinion is right as is his if he really believes he's better. What we think is only opinion.

I suppose that's right. So I officially would like to state that I can play guitar better than him, Slash, Jimmy Page, Randy Rhoads, Herman Li, Ynwgie Malmsteen, Joe Perry and any other "proclaimed" guitar heroes. Compared to me they're nothing. I just started playing guitar....welllll, I guess I'll start now! Yes! I'm holding a guitar! I am the best guitarist in the history of the universe.

Well if your stupid enought to beleive it then yeah. It doesn't speak to your intelligence if you believe that you are the same as a guy who has played guitar for 14 years and been in a band that have released 3 albums all of which have sold really well. but if you believe then all the power to you.

I love rhodes some of his guitar work was unbelivable. But i like MCR too. and with him being a guitarist in a sucessful band i'm sure many people prefer his style to Rhodes. Its the people that can't live with it that makes me laugh.

And lets face it. No one knows if he meant what he said . . or if he even said it

i think youll find ozzy osbournes solo career has been quite successful, alot more than mcr.

People probably preffer whoever that guy is because he is luckily apart of a trend that just happens to be in atm, and his band are pushed by mainstream radios (because thats there job).

I can bet you anything, if alot of the modern bands that im into, were the new "in" fashion, youd soon find people saying those guitarists were better.

Any band can be classed as good and successful, but that generally only happens if there record companies get them pushed on the radio, TV, magazines and whatever form of media. Just look at lordi.

Pfft. I don't even like MCR but I know you're wrong. People that prefer his style to rhodes probably don't know who rhodes is. You can't deny the majority of fans of this band are teen or pre-teen girls. I know like two MCR male fans and 50 female stoner fans. But I suppose those facts in your area could be debated. One fact that cannot be debated as they sure as hell haven't released 3 albums that have sold really well. According to wikipedia they've had one platinum album and one gold album. According to RIAA they have one platinum album and that's it. That's not exactly superstar status, eh? You'd think they'd have sold more albums but I guess they got a lot of downloading fans. So they've had one album that's sold pretty well and has gone platinum over a span of two years. Plus a copilation album of sorts that may or may not have gone gold. I'm discounting the new album by the way. It'll go gold for sure and possibly platinum but fact is I wouldn't call these guys huge sellers. Ozzy Osbourne's not even news anymore but his albums still go platinum. But yes I do believe I'm the greatest guitarist in the world. I even know a chord, so there.

Some music mag included their newest album as a "rock masterpiece"...and ranked it above AFD.  So, I listened to some extended samples on those headphones at Barnes & Noble.  I wasn't impressed.

I grudgingly don't mind the new album there's some solid songs on it. I assumed you were talking about Kerrang as they made similar remarks regarding the album when it came out, but in their best albums of all time magazine that recently came out AFD was sitting proud at no.1, my faith in Kerrang was restored.....a little.

MCR are just another prime example of the commercialised, Emo 'rock' that you can't seem to escape anymore. Stupid emo and scene kids love 'em, but eventually when they grow up abit and the emo trend is out they  will be like "shiiiit, i dressed like such an idiot, i cant believe that i'm stuck with this ridiculas wannabee mullet hair style, My Chemical Romance are sooo the gay! Why didnt i listen to Jade when she told me that GN'R are the best and MCR all suck eachothers cock!?!?" Even the chavs seem to like MCR, and that says alot when you're trying to claim that you are a "rock" band in modern day, and you're being played on Smash Hits.

But was funny last night, a friends 18th was at a gig, and went to that before going out, full of annoying 13 year old emo girls drinking vodka in the toilets, shouting loudly that they love good charlotte and mcr. so me and my friend told them that all of MCR are dying from aids ^.^

haha, yes they're lives are so bad that they have to spend their time standing on street corners waiting for someone to go in for their booze. If you can't get it yourself then it's a sure sign that you shouldn't be drinking. I'm only 17 myself, but the difference is that i can get served, they can't, if you can't get your own, don't drink. Spesh at 13, it's just stupid. And i accept that people have different tastes, but MCR just pretty much SUCK.

Wow, you make me so fuckin' proud to be a GNR fan. Not. There is so much incredibly wrong with what you said, I don't even know where to start.

Haha what i say is true. When they've grown out of the emo phase they will laugh at how stupid they looked. And the emo 'trend' is coming to it's end soon.

Can't wait...only to replaced by some other annoying trend. ^.^

no you just have to have a low standard in music expectation if you can like MCR.

They are unoriginal, and like alot of bands i like today, they can be unoriginal but still fresh and exciting, mcr arnt, they are boring and shit, blande.

Fair enough, i know supposed 'Metal Heads', as they like to refer to themselves as, who like the new MCR album. But then again the main person who i am refering to there is a complete idiot haha

But in general, the only people who tend to like My Chem. are sad and annoying emo's.

but i know it may not sound like it =P but i think it is stupid naming yourself under a certain group. like i get called a 'mosher' :S but i dont see what the hell that is... anywho, i can't quite remember my point but...yeah, i'll stop talking because i have totally forgotten what i'm on about and don't particularilyily care (or have an ability to spell). just ignore this bit and look above =)

infact i kind of rmemeber....
oh yeah... i know that you can't brand everyone who likes MCR as emo's, because the phrase is so broad, but genrally emos have a tendancy to like crap, over played, music that is totally unoriginal and complete copies of every other song in the 'Rock Chart', so you can't blame me for saying that mcr fans are emo's ^.^

First off, let me say I don't give two shits about anyone's image.

I happen to like the stuff I'm hearing from MCR, it's pretty catchy, fairly well-written. Better than a lot of the crap getting attention out there. Fall Out Boy's songs also are catchy, and they embrace the rock lifestyle, have fun, put some effort into their videos. I have like some of AFI's songs; they are fairly hard. All-American Rejects can put out some good tunes. By the way, I don't label any of these bands emo. Emo is Dashboard Confessional, Duncan Sheik stuff.

I'm not close-minded, so I don't automatically write off bands because they've been labeled emo or alternative or whatever. If I like what I hear, I like it. End of story. Doesn't mean I think they're geniuses or gonna be the next GNR. They just are making Ok rock songs. Oh, that reminds me. OK GO has good stuff too.

ive heard them, they all sound the same (minus mcr but they are just crpa anyway) all whiney voices and they all look gay to put it blunt, if i want to look up to a band, i look to someone within it, usually the frontman, that i can relate to.

a person acting very gay isnt one of them. (cause im not gay or bi-sexual)
a person making up fake self harm stories isnt.
people that cut there hair for music videos isnt either.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful time at the Download festival this year.

Thank you White Rose, We certainly intend to have a rocking time, and just hope people who should know better dont spoil it for others by heckling the bands they dont care for, there are other bands on and other things they could be doing instead!!!

I'm not a big MCR fan but i really like some songs,, what i don't understand is that some "metalheads" and other rockers think it's ok to like both GNR and gwen stefani but it's not ok to like both GNR and MCR :nervous:

Yes I find that very weird too.  I think its just fashionable to hate MCR at the moment which is a shame cos as you say some of their stuff is very good

Ah but at least MCR have managed to give their bass player time off and found a replacement, so their fans dont have to suffer cancelled shows!!! whether you like them or not their a hard working band who consider their fans.

when did i support gnrs latest actions considering the tour?

Remember, MCR are still a young hungry band, look at gnr when they began, they filled in steven with fred courey. Im sure when mcr have god knows how much money, huge houses they wont bother to get replacements either.

I concede you may have a point!!! I luv Axl but he's a completley different character, he's always appeared arrogant, these guys dont so I hope they dont lose that hunger and love of what they do,and that could be said for many of tlhe newer bands around today!!!

Why go with a  racist joke ?

I dig their albums but wouldn't go out of my way to see them live. they would have to be touring with a band that I like way more . then it would be just extra getting to see them.

no, it cant. if you want racist words. let me give you a round up.

nigger=black person
cracker=white person
paki=indian/middle eastern person
chinki=chinese/ asian looking person.
i did know what there was for mexican type people but i forget.

tell me, how does fag have anything to do with a race of people?

As far as im concerned it means.

a cigarette
someone who is wimpy and *stereotypically* girlie, as in "ouch i broke a naillll"

and no, i dont consider fag as a term for homosexuals.

Yes in England Fag means could mean all that . But here if you say it , it is more of a slam against  someone of the gay sexual preference in their relationships choices. Now you may not consider it a term for homosexuality but mean do.

But hell who cares .. Shouldn?t have said anything to begin with ..

I agree with you about labels, and people tend to be too closeminded about music, based on genres/labels and whether it's mainstream or underground.  The only labels that matter are along the lines of "horrible," "bad," "good," and "great."

Of course, things can be good or great and still not be your cup o' tea.

Has anyone heard of this band?
If you havent...then if you like AFI check them out.
When i say AFI i mean Latter AFI the more EMOish sounding AFI.

However they rock.

Opinions?

MCR are good at what they do, and they are improving with each album

They are one for the kids

Not necessarily one for the kids, Im the same age as Axl and ive seen them twice this year, 3 times at download.  yes there are plenty kids at the concerts but many older people too!!! The fans are some of the friendliest Ive come across!!!  The atmosphere is fantastic the costumes are great forget dark "emo" stuff it just dosent exist. Its just a good rock n roll show.

There latest albums pretty good but they still annoy the crap out of me. I can't believe how man reviews I've seen that call this band a great live band, I've never seen them live in person but I've seen a fair few live performances on tv etc and to be honest they sound gash, the bands ok but the lead singer is awful he can't seem to hold a note at all when he's singing live. Listen to the end of a live song by MCR, all you hear is the screaming of little girls. They're like Mcfly or Busted for the over 12's.
