Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: Bono on September 08, 2006, 07:47:38 PM Why do you listen to All American Rejects? I didn't think much of them but then I watched them perform live on Much music and they were actually pretty good. there's nothig wrong with likeing what you like. Why so many people have to look down on others for haveing a difference in taste is beyond me. Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: EFISH on September 08, 2006, 07:49:01 PM i saw it at the vma's and yeah it sounded just like it. i didnt no what to think

Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: AxlsSweetChild on September 08, 2006, 09:37:59 PM i dnot really alike thiem that much, but its kinda hard to have not heard the song, even though we live in an age of bad music, its not a bad thing tryin to keep up w/ the times
Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: MR W,AXL ROSE on September 08, 2006, 09:40:38 PM theres also a savage garden song off the album truly madly deeply that sounds like Mr Brownstone (so my missus told me  ) : ok:
Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: bazgnr on September 08, 2006, 09:44:52 PM I've heard the song many times and never picked up on that. I can see similarities, but I would never confuse the two. The guitar parts are as much of the intro to "Brownstone" as the drums, in my opinion, and make it quite easy to tell it from another song...but that's jus me.
Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: pasnow on September 08, 2006, 09:52:42 PM I youtubed the song, yeah it's kinda close, I wouldn't say they ripped it off though. The actual guitar sounds like a U2 riff, can't think of the song though.

I could totally hear that as well as the Brownstone comparison, but it's not enough to think they did either on purpose. just coincidence in my mind. Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: Calcy on September 09, 2006, 06:28:40 AM Was watching Tenacious D DVD last night fort he first time in ages, from the Brixton Academy in London.
In Kyle's solo, Jack Black runs in and starts singing Mr Brownstone over the top of it. Quite cool! Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: Mr Bootlegs on September 09, 2006, 06:50:48 AM This drum riff has been used in many songs, the first i think was the rolling stones, but i cannot remember the song. (its an old one)

ROCKET QUEEN! Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: AdZ on September 09, 2006, 10:32:05 AM Actually I believe GN'R used to refer to it as a Bo Diddely drum beat.
Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: IzzyDutch on September 09, 2006, 02:17:05 PM Actually I believe GN'R used to refer to it as a Bo Diddely drum beat. Exactly.. Bo Diddley's trademark is the drums which you hear on Brownstone. Izzy has actually said in an interview that he learned alot from Bo Diddley, not guitar wise but beat wise. "Not Fade Away" is originally by Diddley and covered by The Stones. Also on the Stones' "Please Go Home" (which Izzy covered on On Down The Road) there's the same beat used. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo_Diddley Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: jimb0 on September 09, 2006, 02:25:22 PM I can't believe Led Zep ripped off that Rocket Queen riff from GNR, how could they.? They're lucky they did cuz if they' didn't they'd suck.
And as far as those rejects, I thought of 'I want candy' not brownstone.? But hey its similar like twins.? That video is the most annoying video in the fucking world, in fact if it wasn't for that terrible video of that ugly dude I might actually say the song aint terrible.? Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: Christian on September 09, 2006, 07:10:47 PM I can't believe Led Zep ripped off that Rocket Queen riff from GNR, how could they.? They ripped it off of that Bow wow Wow song I Want Candy. I always thought this as well. I thought it was meant be ironic, in that they wanted heroin, which was their "candy". Here's "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKDJdRGug5o Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: Mr_Brownface on September 09, 2006, 09:13:16 PM Which riff from Rocket Queen is reminiscent of Led Zeppelin? I never picked up on that one.

Title: Re: Move Along->Mr. Brownstone Post by: Albert S Miller on September 10, 2006, 04:47:58 AM I think that this generation of artist have copied or shall I say somehow incorporated music from the 80's and the 90's into their own music, and movie producers have probably remade every movie possible, it is almost if none of them have a mind of their own!! Not to come across a bitchy or unappreciative of what is out here right now, but truley it is as if no one out there has any of there own creativity, anyone agree?
