Title: New Dizzy Reed Song on MySpace
Post by: Ali on February 03, 2006, 05:38:58 PM
If the GN'R fans here want to take a listen at a solo effort by Dizzy Reed, it's on the MySpace page for the film that he starred in, scored and, obviously, contributed songs for the soundtrack.  Dizzy wrote and sang the song, in addition to playing piano on it.  It's called "The Air".  Also, Dizzy sang and played keyboards on the song, "Silent Light", which is also on that same MySpace page.

You can listen to the song here:  http://www.myspace.com/the_still_life

Welcome, man.  My pleasure.  I hope everyone digs the tune.  I think it's pretty cool to be able to see the full breadth of Dizzy's talents.  He's not just a keyboard player. He's a really talented musician.

Obviously not.

I know man, it was a joke.

On another note, what does everyone think of the song?

I think it rocks!  A little reminiscent of Illusion-era GN'R for me.  Great vocals, specifically the harmonies.

He's a talented little gypsy is our Dizzy. The shaggy haired one has produced a little gem there. Who played the guitar solos on that piece I wonder?

All in all, I look forward to his album. He has said he is going to do one previously, after hearing that song I hope he does.

After listening again, is "The Air" really Dizzy Read?

If so, he should bin GNR off and go solo, doing this kind of stuff for bigger films. He would be a success with records like that. It is perfect pop/rock.

thanks ali,

I really dug that tune too.

I'm just waiting for the other piss-tanks around here to start bashing it.   It's nice to come to a thread to see some positive remarks for a change.  Dizzy's got some skill

fuck, that's brilliant! i couldn't recognize dizzy's voice.... i wasn't expecting to be so good!
dizzy should release a cd solo like tommy.
to be honest this incarnation of gn'r has the most talented musicians ever. tommy's solo effort blows any solo effort frm any other gn'r member, past or present. and if dizzy were to do the same i guess he could just as easly deliever something just as tasteful.
long live gn'r, in whatever form it may be...

OMG i love it.   Now I see the director hasn't officially released this.  He entered it into Sundance 2005 but I guess it wasn't picked up for major release.   That's too bad.   I see the guy is trying to get a Netflix deal but that was dated Dec.2005.  So my question is...is the movie released now on DVD?  Will it be coming out?

Dizzy sounds amazing.  I listened to The Air...and also Silent Light.  Is Dizzy singing that too..I was trying to look for song credits.   WOW, I really am impressed.   Not only does the soundtrack sound amazing but the movie looks really good.

On a side note, I see one of the Nelson is a part of this...hmmm I wonder if Axl got mad at Dizzy for working with him??   Joke :hihi:

That's awesome.   I have to admit..I never, ever gave any of Dizzy's solo projects even a listen.  This is a pleasant surprise.  So CB do you know what the deal is with the movie or even the soundtrack?

As far as I know, Joel (the director of the movie) is still looking for distrubution and he has it submitted to several festivals. And Im assuming the soundtrack will be coming out sometime  I just have no idea when.

That is Dizzy singing on the song.  As far as the lead or rhythm guitar parts, I asked Joel Miller what Dizzy did for the song, at least the recording that is on MySpace, and he said he sang and played piano.  I asked Joel about the guitar parts on the song, and I'll let everyone know what he says about that.

Like chineseblues said, Joel is looking for distribution for the film still.  He has submitted it to a bunch of festivals.  I know he put out some feelers for distribution of the soundtrack, but I don't think anything definitive has happened yet.

Just FYI, Dizzy and Joel Miller will be collaborating on songs for a film that starts shooting at the end of this month, called "The Iron Man".  Which is not to be confused with the Marvel Comics hero, Iron Man.  It's not that.

Has anybody heard this song at all? It's supposed to be a song from the movie 'Still Life'. I heard this song a few weeks ago and I really like it a lot. : ok: Sounds sort of Bon Jovi-ish but in all honesty I FEEL it's better than any of the leaks and demos we've heard so far.? :hihi: Dizzy supposedly wrote it and is also the lead singer on it.? I don't know who did the instrumentals though. Anybody heard it and want to give an opinion about it? I think with the way the leaks and demos are sounding Axl better beg Dizzy to let him put this song on the Chinese Democracy album, but that's just me.....?

I heard it a LONG time ago, earlier this year or late last year I think. A site I'm a moderator at, Splat (this isn't meant to be a Splat topic so please don't bring up your hatred/disgust/love of the site), did a couple interviews with Joel Miller the director of The Still Life at the time. It's a very good song, very catchy. However, I do differ with you on your analysis of the leaks. While I'm not a huge fan of CITR or TWAT (CITR is over 7 years old so who knows what it sounds like now), I really dig Better and I.R.S. Those songs combined with Madagascar and Chinese Democracy stand out as really really good songs.
