Title: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: GeraldFord on September 05, 2006, 10:21:48 PM I was on the subway in Boston and I hear what sounds like SCOM coming from someone's headphones. I look around, but the only one wearing a headset is an older man in a suit, maybe in his late 40s to 60. I get up and stand next to him and sure enough he is listening to GN'R, loud. I look at this badge on his jacket and it's his identification tag and it says "psychiatry department," so this guy is a shrink.
It was so odd, a 40-50 year-old man, in a suit, who's a shrink was listening to Guns N' Roses. After SCOM I could clearly hear PC. As I left the subway for my stop I tapped him on the shoulder and have him the "devil horns" and he smiled. I just thought it was a cool 'lil story. Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: TrueRock&Roll on September 05, 2006, 10:44:15 PM That's cool. People in all walks of life go for Guns N' Roses. : ok:

Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: jameslofton29 on September 05, 2006, 10:58:42 PM Nixon/Ford, its not surprising that there are old fans. AFD came out almost 20 years ago, and people of all ages back then listened to it. ALOT of adults at the time. So 20 years later, the ones that are alive will still be GNR fans. I think its safe to say that at least a handful of posters here are in their late 50's/early 60's.

Did I mention it goes to 11? Why would it be locked? It's a GNR related thread on a GNR forum. Sure, it's not the most earth-shattering thread ever, but really, who the fuck cares? It's just a little story that points out GNR's wide appeal as far as age and social status. Get a bit of levity when it comes to messageboards, this is the fucking internet, I've seen you in a couple threads today complaining - so where's your groundbreaking topic? Not meaning to attack you but I'm tired of hearing what people can and cannot talk about. On topic, I'd find it pretty amusing if I saw a similar scene. It probably wont be locked but it should or be moved to Dead Horse. I mean, c'mon.. you saw someone listening to GNR... there one of the biggest bands of the last 20 years, its not a big deal... If everyone was to mention everytime theyve seen someone listening or talking GN'R.. there'd be like 1000000 threads. I know I come to the GNR section to talk about whats going on with GNR and discuss the band, not some guy on the subway listening to AFD. ::) Kinda stupid IMO, i mean who cares? STORY EVER! See, GN'R isn't just for us dumb blokes, even doctors listen to Guns, W0o0o0! Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: GeraldFord on September 06, 2006, 12:37:47 AM I think some of you are missing the point.
Today I saw a man, someone of a high SES and prestige in his mid 50s listening to GN'R. It says something about the wide appeal of GN'R and I thought it was cool that an egg-head-shrink was a fan. So either: 1. Don't respond 2. Say something constructive 3. Post some pics of some nice skanky asses Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: no more patience on September 06, 2006, 01:02:21 AM say something that matters... that story doesn't mean shit... hey i was behind a guy in his 40's and he was blaring sympathy for the devil gnr version in a kick ass mercedes... if everyone said the same story there would be millions...

Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: Poof! on September 06, 2006, 05:53:53 AM So the guy wanted to share nice little story about GN'R and gets shit for it. I guess it's too positive and of lesser importance to be posted here. But if we can have a topic about Axl's shoes, we can have a topic about this. Stop your damn whining. My niece and nephew (aged six and eight) whine less than some of you people.
I liked the story, especially the devil horns thing. You don't hear about too many people, especially that age, listening to GN'R randomly on a subway. GN'R transcends generations. Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: Axl4Prez2004 on September 06, 2006, 07:32:48 AM this story might just be better than sex.... I enjoyed the story, thank you. I enjoyed Frozen Inferno's avatar even more! One of the best ever. : ok: Yup, GNR does transcend generations, political affiliations, genders...very good stuff. 8) Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: G n R Fan 87-06 on September 06, 2006, 07:59:04 AM Great Story and very intresting : ok:
Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: Cornell on September 06, 2006, 08:02:19 AM I'm 41 and the Director of Finance where I work and I listen to GNR so maybe you'll catch me too! : ok:
Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: Elrothiel on September 06, 2006, 12:34:11 PM I think the fact the guy was a psychiatrist is more of a point... I'm wondering if psychiatrists who listen to Gn'R hear the lyrics and can work out a mental profile of the way Axl thinks.... *muses to self*
Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: luv4axl on September 06, 2006, 12:39:31 PM AFD came out 20 years ago. I don't find it strange at all for someone that age to be a fan.
Also..were you really unable to tell if this person was 40 or 60. That's a big difference. Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: Yesterday on September 06, 2006, 12:40:24 PM Cool story....
it's funny for me too, I am 30 and people oler than me are getting "back" into Gn'R and they coolest part is the younger generation teens-early 20's are discovering what a great band they are. ?I just hope at some point they figure out who is in the band now. Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: deanaxlrose on September 06, 2006, 12:54:48 PM Well.I live in small country in indonesia.. Every where I go I heard SCOM and WTTJ was played in the street where they sell pirates cd's. yes they also sell LINKIN PARK.LIMP BIZKIT even William Hung!..but only SCOM was played over and over again. and they probably doesnt know Rolling Stone or Aerosmith.
I imagined if CD comes out and we got the videos.... :peace: Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: Mikkel on September 06, 2006, 06:33:44 PM I liked this story, thank you for posting! I wish that guy had been sitting next to me on the bus this morning instead of the ugly, smelly drunkard who just wanted to argue over anything!

Also..were you really unable to tell if this person was 40 or 60. That's a big difference. First of all, don't bash the guy ! Hey GeraldFord is a cool story, anyway there's no much to talk about these days... and I agree with luv4axl, is a big difference between 40 and 60. But in case that he was more 40.. I think is not rare either... I am 31 and I know older people that are huge rock fans from the 60's to the 90's ... some people I know from local radio stations are in their 40's and they are 100% rockers.... I was 12 when they released AFD and those people was 20 or 21. As a rocker.. I think I will always hear to rock music, no matter my age ! I hope so... :hihi: Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: pilferk on September 07, 2006, 10:43:07 AM I'm 32 years old.
During the '02 tour, I went to a GnR concert with a friend of mine who is now 39...and still a big GnR fan. It doesn't surprise me there are 40 to 50 year old GnR fans out there... :) Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: Timmy on September 07, 2006, 12:35:37 PM I hear people playing Appetite all the time when I am walking to class in my schools parking lot
I walk away and smile thinking "hey, I just listened to Better" Title: Re: My little GN'R story that happened today Post by: no more patience on September 07, 2006, 11:45:42 PM i got laid listening to GNR and during the broad's climax...she corresponded with axls screeching in you could be mine.... it was amazing...
