Title: Doug Goldstein Post by: Sizzle on September 05, 2006, 12:05:48 PM Does anybody know when Merck took over from Doug, I never heard the news at the time... also, why did Doug leave/why was he fired?
Title: Re: Doug Goldstein Post by: DunkinDave on September 05, 2006, 12:11:19 PM He scheduled a European Tour in 2001 without Axl knowing about it.

Title: Re: Doug Goldstein Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on September 05, 2006, 12:15:19 PM He scheduled a European Tour in 2001 without Axl knowing about it. That would be grounds for getting canned! Title: Re: Doug Goldstein Post by: Mr. Nik™ on September 05, 2006, 12:17:50 PM So did he get fired by Sanctuary then? when they had Doug they weren't with Sanctuary. Sanctuary replaced him. Title: Re: Doug Goldstein Post by: darkmonth on September 05, 2006, 01:00:37 PM I believe Doug is a partner of some sort in Sanctuary so I can't see how they could have fired him.
I suspect he got bored working with the band and moved on ? :) Title: Re: Doug Goldstein Post by: pilferk on September 05, 2006, 01:17:22 PM I'm not exactly sure what Doug's status with Sanctuary is right now. ?I know he was an employee of Sanctuary not too too long ago. ?But I think he's "retired" from active management and may, at this point, only be acting as a consultant.
Remember, Sanctuary bought Doug's BFD entertainment (and thus, the management of GnR) back in April/May of '01. ?Doug took a position within the company but, AFAIK, his "active management" of GnR (and everyone else) ended pretty much at that point. I know he stayed involved, some, with his "pet bands" (like GnR) but he took on the role of Co-President of Sanctuary Music Management North America out of the LA offices and mostly managed the managers. ?I think he held that position for awhile (not sure how long. At least through the '02 tour (which he was somewhat involved with), and mentioned in a couple articles as President as recently at late '04). ?Asher was "Co-President, as well, until '05, so that may be around the time Doug left that postion, but I'm not sure. ?I'm pretty sure that Doug "semi-retired" when he left Sanctuary, though he may be a sometimes consultant, or even working directly for the board. ?Again, not exactly sure. Title: Re: Doug Goldstein Post by: nesquick on September 05, 2006, 01:23:06 PM Doug Goldstein and Tom Zutaut did a lot for GN'R 87-93 to be so successfull.

Im almost 100% sure that he has totally retired from the biz alltogether and is now living in Hawaii with his family. Title: Re: Doug Goldstein Post by: GnR-NOW on September 05, 2006, 10:16:07 PM Doug did a lot of good things, and remember he dealt with them when they were still young kids in the band, and he dealt with axl again on his first comeback while he still thought he was the big show, so he probably took a ton of shit too
