Title: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on September 01, 2006, 10:13:15 AM did anyone watch the game against Baghdatis last night? That was truly a historic match. Phenomenal.
agassi is the best there ever was. and respect for baghdatis, how he fought although he couldn't even barely stand Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: You Gonna Eat That? on September 01, 2006, 10:17:50 AM Goodbye? He won didn't he?
Or is it because it's his last U.S open? Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on September 01, 2006, 10:21:39 AM yes, it's his last tournament
Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on September 01, 2006, 10:22:46 AM Couldn't see the match but I can only think that Agassi will win this tournament : ok:
Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Jim on September 01, 2006, 10:23:07 AM Agassi may well, up till now, be the best there ever has been, but there is no doubt in my mind that when Federer retires he will have ample claim to that accolade.
I'm watching the repeat now, I didn't fancy staying up until six in the morning. Good stuff. Top man. Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Gnrfan on September 01, 2006, 12:00:03 PM did anyone watch the game against Baghdatis last night? That was truly a historic match. Phenomenal. agassi is the best there ever was. and respect for baghdatis, how he fought although he couldn't even barely stand Awesome match. Both players were hitting lines all night. As far as Agassi being the best ever goes . . . thats wrong. Sampras, Borg, Ashe, Conners and probally Federer are ahead in that queue. But he is one of the best personalities in the game and the fact he changed his entire game 3 time deserves lots of credit. If it hadn't have been for Sampras (who for me is the best ever) he would have won so much. I think i'm right in saying that Sampras beat agassi in 19 finals which is unbeliveably unlucky. I hope he goes far in the US open. I hope Andy Murray or Nadal knocks him out if he is to lose. I think they would be perfect players for Agassi to pass the baton onto Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Phenomenal. agassi is the best there ever was. and respect for baghdatis, how he fought although he couldn't even barely stand Andre Agassi is one of my fav athletes of all time. He is one of the greatest people also. He isnt the best ever though as I believe Sampras probably gets that nod although he never won the French Open like Andre did. Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on September 01, 2006, 07:05:01 PM I am just so priviledged to have seen his last match here in his home city of Los Angeles. My cousin got his ball signed by Agassi. He is just an awesome man, he's not stuck up and he has been so good for the sport. It will be sad to see him go.

Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: the dirt on September 03, 2006, 04:41:51 PM Sad day, but he had a remarkable career. He is from Vegas and grew up there, man! I always liked him. He provided the next generation of tennis rebellion after John Macenroe (sic). Never went nuts like John though :hihi: Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! ON topic, I never was a fan of Agasi, but I respected what Aggasi acomplished over his career. Agassis match thursday night at the U.S. Open was a classic. Great job Andre and thanks for all the memories! Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! You got that right. Andre is 100% class. I hope he and Steffi have lots of time to kick back and enjoy their family. I was always a big McEnroe fan, but damn, in his prime, could anyone return serve better than Agassi? I don't think so. Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: estebanf on September 04, 2006, 05:00:21 PM God bless Agassi. In your face pistol pete, he won Roland Garros and you dont!
Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Ignatius on September 06, 2006, 11:28:36 AM It was his time. The man is 36 years old...
I like Andre, he's amongst the best 5-10 platers ever in the history but he is NOT in the same league as Sampras. Like it or not, Sampras holds the record for most grand slams titles and dominated tennis ever since 1994 until the year 2000. Him and Pete played great matches, but their head to head is on Pete's side. The problem with Pete has always been his lack of charisma and not winning the french open. People liked Agassi cause he was more charismatic, he brought something else to the game. Pete, he was a regular guy. The best, but his image didnt sell. Many people say Pete wasn't as an all around player cause he didnt' win the french, but if you look at Pete's career, you'll notice that he has won tournaments on clay too. Lacks the big one, but the guy won Wimbledon 7 times! Roger Federer is the most dominant player these days. Boring off the court though. Rafael Nadal is the second best player in the world, but with more charismatic. In a way, he is the 21st century Andre Agassi. Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: estebanf on September 07, 2006, 01:32:25 AM If Federer wins Roland Garros in the future, he will be bigger than both Agassi and Sampras in my opinion.
Gaston Gaudio RULES! :peace: Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Walapino on September 07, 2006, 01:08:30 PM I have an autograph from Agassi way back in the 80's when he first started and was a nobody, im loving me!!! 8)
Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on September 07, 2006, 01:13:56 PM Federer can suck it. He's like all people from switzerland. frigging boring :)
Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on September 07, 2006, 02:15:07 PM God bless Agassi. I can't stand Nadal - and I don't have a reason why!! :hihi: But, who would win.. if Federer today played Sampras at his peak in the mid 90s?? Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Ignatius on September 08, 2006, 11:49:28 AM I can't stand Nadal - and I don't have a reason why!!? :hihi: But why...?? :P Quote But, who would win.. if Federer today played Sampras at his peak in the mid 90s?? Uff that's a tough one. Federer is winning more matches than Pete on his prime, however, if Pete was playing well, Nobody could stop him regardless the surface. Federer played incredibly well the four times he lost against Nadal this year; specially in Rome and Dubai (hard court) but lost. so I have to go with Pete. Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Thanks for the info., needless to say, I'll be pulling for Roddick then! How about the beautiful Miss Sharapova's stellar performance tonight? Not only is she drop-dead gorgeous, she's got game! Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: Ignatius on September 11, 2006, 08:46:46 AM Sharapova is hot and got game. She's the best paid female athelete in the wold. Federer did it again. I seriously thought A-Rod had a chance this time around but Roger is just too good. Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: leila on September 11, 2006, 09:13:59 AM Tennis is my favourite sports..and now..for me..tennis will never be the same..Agassy was the last tennis "hero" for me..I have grown with this generation of tennis players Agassi,Becker,McEnroe,Connors,Edberg,Sampras,Rafter,Leconte,Ivanisevic,Navratilova,Graf,Seles...I don't know how explain it well but there is something that miss in tennis today for me..the new tennis players are great athletes and very talented guys...but..not "magic"...But it's just an opinion..
Thanks Agassi for all these exciting years!!! ? Title: Re: Goodbye Agassi! Post by: CheapJon on September 11, 2006, 09:28:31 AM I've never cared for tennis.. but i know that much that agassi is a legend :peace:
