Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: DunkinDave on August 31, 2006, 09:51:03 PM Why can't any guy there sing? If you've ever been to a rap concert, it's just the rappers shouting the lyrics along to their studio tracks. It's terrible. Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: gun on August 31, 2006, 09:51:41 PM Ok this is why I hate MTV now...this shit that calls itself "KING". ?How many times can someone restir this cesspool of lame crap before the American youth realizes it is worthless??

So how has the show been, performance wise? How was Christina Aguileras new song? Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: SkiX on August 31, 2006, 10:05:08 PM WOW its quite in here (crickets chirping) Right, I started watching like 10 mins ago, so I have no clue :D I assume it was badSo how has the show been, performance wise? How was Christina Aguileras new song? Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: christina_rose on August 31, 2006, 10:07:14 PM she didn't perform yet. I don't believe she did anyway.
Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: gun on August 31, 2006, 10:09:55 PM WOW its quite in here (crickets chirping) I didn't catch the beginning but so far it has really been crap. These performances have blown. Shakira and Beyonce's were done well but not my type of music. Christina I haven't seen yet but she is definitely talented (and hot), not so much my taste for music but at least she can sing. So how has the show been, performance wise? How was Christina Aguileras new song? Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: XpyroX on August 31, 2006, 10:12:59 PM I totally forgot this was on, until a friend told me. If I hear that stupid Panic! song one more time, I will shoot the TV. Hopefully they don't play it before Axl's on.
Oh hey, I like A7X. Good thing they won, or I would've shot the TV  Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: SkiX on August 31, 2006, 10:13:19 PM A7X won something... I like 'em :D
Oh god they are doing some werid Fallout Boy stalker-esque video... ugh' who would want to follow them Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: bazgnr on August 31, 2006, 10:18:27 PM Anyone else completely underwhelmed by the My Chemical Romance performance? The way they were hyping it was ridiculous, in my opinion...

I'm not watching the show by the way. I'm here just waiting for ..guess who? lol Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: gun on August 31, 2006, 10:26:58 PM Not to give anybody shit but I haven't heard anything impressive. ?These bands wouldn't be worthy to be an opening act for a "real" band. ? Peace...just my opinion.
Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: agropolus on August 31, 2006, 10:34:13 PM can somebody please give me a link where I can watch it? I'm watching MTV Brazil but they have a delay over the broadcast in the USA (about 10 or 15 minutes late)
Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: gnr1967 on August 31, 2006, 11:08:31 PM Al Gore is on MTV. Interesting to see him on this show.
Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: comaknight on August 31, 2006, 11:31:14 PM John Norris seems to have borrowed his wig from the local off-Broadway production of Oliver Twist.
Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: -Jack- on August 31, 2006, 11:50:25 PM Did anyone see the look on Christina A's face when she lost out to Kelly Clarkson? Wow. What a jealous bitch!
I hate her music video too. What a poser.. she deserved to lose. (Not that I like any of the choices.. but at least Christina didn't win. Haha.) Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: dodger girl on September 01, 2006, 01:02:58 AM and her songs are always written by Linda Perry.. at least the song she sang today "Hurt" is ::)
anyway, I liked when The Raconteurs sang "Internet killed the video star" hahaha :hihi: and Justin Timberlake being the puppy of Jack black lol!! Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: Booker Floyd on September 01, 2006, 01:13:13 AM Its easy to focus on the negative, so Ill go with the positive (although I didnt see all of it, or even half):
The Killers were terrific. Jack White rules, and playing with Lou Reed certainly doesnt hurt. The house band gimmick was odd, but pretty cool. Justin Timberlakes performance was pretty good. Hes aping Michael Jackson as hard as ever, but he at least does a decent job with it. Al Gore was a pleasent surprise. His recent popularity has been remarkable and hes acheived a strange celebrity status that I havent seen with any other politician. If hes truly interested in another run, hes in a great position to launch one. Jack Black did a good job. I should be tired of his schtick by now, but I cant help but enjoy him. Havent seen OK Go yet, but Im assuming they did a solid job as well. Havent seen OK Go yet, but Im assuming they did a solid job as well. I wasn't a big fan of most of the VMAs (not that I was expected it to be good). Al Gore was a pleasant surprise however. I think he's trying to reach a younger audience. The Killers were okay - nothing memorable, but better than the rest. I also liked seeing that guy from ZZ Top. Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: D on September 01, 2006, 01:41:53 AM AFI are the biggest bunch of fags Ive ever seen.
They beat the Red Hot Chili peppers? Give me a fuckin break. Sad day for music. this shit sucked. I was almost ashamed to see Axl be apart of this shit. Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: mornintrain on September 01, 2006, 11:05:26 AM Kanye got shafted last night.

The 90's this show was great-even 80's-it was at least watchable-2002 was the last show I've seen for obvious reasons-it's a rap award show now-unwatchable-it's sad to see what MTV has become-where are all the rock bands for the future? How did the Chili Peppers video not win? Pink was funny-all drunk

I have no clue :hihi: Avenge Sevenfold... omg how can you not know them?!They're a generic-sounding rock band just like every other band that's been showcased tonight? so generic that no other band on the mtv list sounded like them, seriously get a fucking clue, you may hate them, their music and their image but that doesn't make the a generic band. look around music today how many of the new bands have extended guitar solos and song structures that have some variation to them. i mean someone who taped an entire ozzfest show thought burn it down was 3 seperate songs. if avenged sevenfold are generic then every other band on the face of the fucking planet would be. Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: Malcolm on September 01, 2006, 09:45:46 PM I watched most of the show and I thaught Shakira was very good,Killers were ok...rest sucked

Axl was light in the end of the dark tunnel !? :hihi: Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: bazgnr on September 03, 2006, 11:52:38 AM You have to admit that - like the song or not - the Ok Go / treadmill performance was a lot of fun to watch...
Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: Captain P?l on September 03, 2006, 01:03:59 PM i didnt see it all.. but the part i saw was when the band that won the ringtone of the year award did his speach..
MAN, you won the ringtone of the year! not the best band!!! long speach indeed... Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: metallex78 on September 04, 2006, 12:53:26 AM i didnt see it all.. but the part i saw was when the band that won the ringtone of the year award did his speach.. MAN, you won the ringtone of the year! not the best band!!! long speach indeed... I thougt that was quite odd too. What a sh*tty state music is in these days if that show is anything to go by - really bad rap/hip hop and emo crap. What's with all the crappy emo fags haircuts? They look as bad as Duran Duran did back in the 80's. Is that what's supposed to pass as rock these days? Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: -Jack- on September 04, 2006, 04:26:17 AM You have to admit that - like the song or not - the Ok Go / treadmill performance was a lot of fun to watch... I disagree... I thought it was pretty bad.. they didn't even really "preform" in my opinion. But each to his own! Title: Re: 2006 MTV Video Music Awards Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on September 05, 2006, 02:28:57 PM I liked the Raconteurs, & adding Billy Gibbons in there was great. Liked the Killers also ( what's up with those bad moustaches?) Other than that & the appearance of the great one I felt the rest of the show was unwatchable.
