I don't want to hear Axl cover anymore songs... ever. GNR have covered more than enough fuckin' songs in their day. They did a whole albums worth of covers and their greatest hits album had four friggen' covers on it for Christ's sake. They've probably released over twenty studio versions of other peoples songs, which is unheard of from a band with so few albums.  Personally, I'd like to hear some of the songs that he's CREATED in the last 10 years (aside from the six "new" songs that've been around for many years now.) :smoking:

I would actually love to see Axl cover some Beatles songs. His voice is amazing, and so are these songs, and I think covers done by him solo or with the new GnR lineup live would be an awesome experience

Hey Jude - I think his voice would be so unique and perfect for this song. The melody of the song is so catchy and a GnR version just might out do the original for me.

Yesterday - I can totally see Axl coming on stage by himself and singing this song with all his heart. His range and technique demonstrated on earlier ballads would suite this soulful piece perfectly.

Let It be - What could be a better, and more relevant cover to match GnR's legacy? I could see them doing this before Paradise City, Axl perched at his piano and the whole new band into it, just as a way for Axl in particular to say "leave the past in the past and lets move on" I personally think. :D

are you insane, Led Zeppelin is far better than Guns N' Roses are or ever were.  Guns are my favourite band but every led zeppelin album is better on par with any GNR album, and quite frankly they got twice as many quality albums then Guns do...there isn't a comparison.  I think GNR should cover zeppelin songs for sure such as

Uhh, that hurts. Led Zep is not good enough? Then nobody's good enough. It's like saying that Slash cannot play guitar, Buckethead plays slowly, John Lennon was an awful songwriter...

Nu-GN'R shouldn't cover any Zep-song, 'cause Led Zeppelin is only Axl's influence, the others are not really into this type of music (well, maybe Richard and Robin Finck, but Nu-GN'R seems to be going to a very different direction so LZ songs just don't suit them).

Old-GN'R: tough question. IMO there is no need to make a cover (and record it), unless it's better than the original or it's in a very different style of music. Led Zep songs cannot be really altered, 'cause it ruins them. So I forget about the (IMO) perfect songs, and I'd choose Whole Lotta Love, 'cause it was amazing by Camp Freddy/Linda Perry, Your Time is Gonna Come, Custard Pie (Izzy's favourite), Rover and Down By The Seaside (Nikki Sixx's favourite, although I know he never played in GN'R  :))

Although I don?t think they?ought to do any covers and I?d rather hear their new original materials than covers,

I know there have been threads about it, so forgive me.....but I am personally tired of Knockin' and LALD taking more than 10 min of a GN'R show. I mean these songs were great back in the day but have faded over the years....And will start to get really annoying if performed every night..
I am in general not in favor of cover songs but if it should be, then I suggest GN'R does

for several reasons:
1) It is a pretty recent song and I think that is fresh
2) It is a piano song and pretty simple and easy to perform
3) It is very very catchy and I can see how the audience gets to dig it in no time
4) It is the deepest song lyrically since the Illusions albums

Why is there bad blood between Robin and Trent Reznor?  Robin was part of the band that Trent hires to tour (since TR records the entire album himself for the most part).  When the tour was over (Fragility '00), Robin's services were no longer needed (as was the case with a few other band members).  Not sure why there would be bad blood there, unless I am missing something.

As far as covers, I don't think any NIN song would be a great choice for GN'R, but don't mistake me, I would absolutely DIE to hear Axl and Trent sing "Hurt" together (like Trent did with Bowie in '95).  I think I have a better chance of seeing the easter bunny buttfuck Oprah than seeing Trent and Axl on the same stage unfortunately.  Anyhow, I would love to hear Axl perform "Let It Be" or "Cats in the Cradle", but doubt either of those will ever happen.

I wasn't aware that Trent said that about Robin, so I guess I can see why he might be a little upset about that.  He is right though, Aaron North is a much better guitarist than Robin ever was while in NIN.  I am telling ya, watching NIN videos from 2000 and seeing Robin is so bizarre.  Trent would tackle him, knock him over, and kick the living shit out of him and he'd still play the song.  Good stuff! 

I am aware of all the GN'R references on the NIN website, but am not sure how that is a diss.  Having a sign that says "Chinese Democracy" or a picture of Axl is hardly a diss.  The only insult I ever heard Reznor make was during an interview he was asked his feelings on the new Guns N Roses and Trent replied "who?".  Hardly anything too bad.  I heard Axl made a quote that said something along the lines of "I'd love to see Nine Inch Nails play Estranged" - anyone have more info on that (where it came from, what context, etc.?).

True they didn't do the piano version on the With Teeth tour of '05 - '06, but they did release a different, even more desonstrcuted version on one of their UK releases.  It is referred to as V.2.  I rank this song right up there with The Great Below, but not as powerful/deep as Something I Can Never Have and Hurt.  Regardless, it fucking rocks.
