No, Axl needs over 10 years to make an album these days.

I agree together they come up with amazing stuff.  I wouldn't doubt Izzy is writing with Axl and the band again.   but in a week?  no way.

This isn't 1986. And Izzy isn't even the band, and we've been waiting for how many YEARS for a new album so this topic is nothink  ::)

I dont belive anybody could write a great album in the span of a week, I find that quite impossible, and would not belive anybody who said such a thing. Though alot of people could do it in alot less time than GN'R has.  :smoking:

Really? Then why did it take them like 4 years to write their songs for UYI?

It didn't took that long, most UYI songs where written pre-AFD and the remaining songs where written by the rest of the guys seperatly since '89. In '89 the first band sessions started for the new songs, there are demos which are from those '89 sessions. And in '90 they all came together and recorded all of the UYI music, it then took a year before the vocals where finished.

2001 Izzy interviewed by Mick Wall:

A hypothetical question then: Axl's [solo] album flops, and he offers you all the chance to get back together - just like Aerosmith and Sabbath - would you do it? I mean, assuming Axl would be... "broke?" he cuts in, laughing. "I could hear the call." Goes into gruff Axl impersonation: "'You know, I've been, ah, thinking'. He talks really slow when he gets an idea like that. 'Aahhh, I've been thinking...' And I'd be thinking, 'He must be broke'," he chuckles. "That's how I imagine the call would go."

He said the band still get hopeful promoters trying to tempt them back together with promises of enourmous wedge. "Oh, yeah. Around the big millenium hype, for sure." Is he ever tempted? "Yeah, why not?" he chuckles, "A [one-off] gig would be easy, I'd think."

What about an album, though? Now he really does laugh.

"Well, you know what? It's funny cos like me, Duff and Slash - we could go in and make a Guns N' Roses record in a week. basic tracks. [But] vocals and leads [instrumentation] could take God knows how long..."

"Yeah, getting sober played a part in my leaving," says Stradlin, his eyes glancing alternately at the floor and out his hotel room window at the rain clouds over Chicago. His long, dark hair is gradually entangling itself into dreadlocks, and you have to search his glowing complexion for evidence of canine mastication. The overall impression is vibrant shyness. "I think you make more decisions when you're sober. And when you're fucked up, you're more likely to put up with things you wouldn't normally put up with. When I have something I wanna do, I gotta do it. I like _just_doing_it_. I didn't like the complications that became such a part of daily life in Guns N' Roses. Sometimes for the simplest things to happen would take days. Time was so slow, you sat around for days just to do a photo shoot. Schedule it, get a phone call, it's been delayed. Reschedule it, get a phone call, it's been delayed again. That pattern could stretch out for weeks. On _Illusion_, we did the basic tracks in about a month. Then there was a time lag of about a year before the vocals were finished. I went back to Indiana and painted the house. If you've got a group and people are focused, it just shouldn't take that long."

Why did Axl take so long?

"I never really knew, I guess. Just one of those things. On tour he had a real hard time finishing the sits. And he had a hard time getting onstage. So you're sitting there in the dressing room at a hockey rink and for, like, two hours the walls are vibrating while the audience is going, `Bullshit! Bullshit!' That time goes _slow_ when you're sober. And they have to send a helicopter to the hotel to get him. He would just `get ready,' and sometimes he would `get ready' for a long time. I don't know what goes on upstairs with him. To me it's simple. Get an alarm clock, ya know? There's a modern invention that seems to work for people. You set it, and then you wake up when you're supposed to."

I dont think he means to wake up from being sleep but for he was heading to.

slash is utility...duff is replaceable... steven adler was wicked but drugged out... and the rest are nobodies...

Duff is replaceable? well there were lots of contribution from duff specially it's so easy, paradise city, first that comes to my mind, but I think he is ireplaceable specially for chemistry along the band
