Title: Question for GEEKS, mounting software?
Post by: Christos AG on August 25, 2006, 09:22:35 AM
Ok, I've downloaded something.

I've un-rared it and it's 2 ISO files. The guy that uploaded it says:

If you plan on burning the software to a dvd, please use the slowest speed to avoid errors during installation.

Also, try mounting the software, we would suggest using daemon tools which can be found at www.daemon-tools.cc

Now, what the does he mean? I've downloaded Daemon-Tools but I have no idea what it does.

Can anyone help?

I've burned it on a dvd and it won't work...

Is that what we're calling porn these days.

http://www.magiciso.com/ is suppose to be good for ISO files, I'm not exactly sure if it will help you at all but you can always try.

Well, it's not porn, it's DVD-rom's with tutorials for a program, but anyway...

The guy that was seeding it said MOUNT, I also have PowerISO, which is supposed to be the best, but what the hell does Daemon Tools do?

Why do I need to mount the software before I use it and how do I mount the software?

mounting the image makes the program you have think that it is the real disk so it will allow you to play it if it is a game.

Daemon tools creates a virtual drive that does not exist but it makes the image you mount visible to the program so it runs.

Example: I know someone ::) that downloaded a game of a torrent site onto a hard drive. I burned the program onto a disk then. I opened up my daemoin tools and somewhere the is an option called mount image I mounted if memory serves me correct the iso file for that program on to the virtual drive.

I'm sorry I'm very bad at trying to explain how to do stuff. Plus I'm at work so I do not have my home pc here to walk through it.

Ok. U use daemon tools to make an ISO image appear as a drive. Install Daemon tools. It'll have a System Tray icon. Right click and select an image. The image will appear as a DVD/ROM drive.

Optionally u can just burn the DVDs.

Description: DAEMON Tools is a virtual cd/dvd-rom emulator. It is able to emulate nearly all known copy protections on the market today.

And since this has nothing to do with the thread I'd kindly ask you not to post off topic again.
