I think the idea is to collect e-mail addresses from fans who want to take part in the pre-sale and to see what kind of demand there is.


As far as I remember from the previous pre-sales, you fill in the amount of tickets you want to buy on the Ticketmaster page during the actual pre-sale.

I want to go to the GNR concert on September 16th (Saturday night) show in Vegas so bad it is starting to hurt. That is the prime show for me to get to go to(have kids and all).

Dude, stay at the motel 6 on Tropicana Ave........right down the street from the hard rock, you could walk, or a cab would only be like 8 bucks...and its cheap....its got a bed, and thats all that matters, most people that come here dont spend time in the rooms anyways, lol.

I sure hope so, as I still have my tickets to the December 30, 2002 Sacramento show - which is the closest they were scheduled to come to San Francisco that tour :) But then again, I still have a ticket to the 93 show there that ended in a near riot after some dude thew a bottle at duff...

You can get nice rooms in LV for 1/4th the price, do a search. I'm going to rent a car when I get there, it is an easy place to get around in.

I've looked into it, and the best choice hotel IMO is Palace Station Hotel And Casino. Its 4.6 miles from Hard Rock, and its a decent hotel... and its very cheap... I'm flying up saturday morning very early and leaving monday afternoon..... for saturday and sunday at the hotel, costs 170 bucks. (120 for sat, 50 for sunday). Thats insanely cheap. Google this hotel and find the official site.. I think its www.palacestation.com

I won't make the trip to Vegas this time, under the assumption GNR will be hitting the East Coast.  Just wanted to let everyone know I stayed at a hotel called the Alexandria when I saw GNR at the Hard Rock.  It was right across the street, and the rooms were pretty cheap and a decent size too.  Worth checking out if your looking to save some money.

These next few days are going to be pure insanity! Jarmo and Mysteron. I ad to sign up again so I could give a different email, as I will be away for a couple days (tomorrow through Friday) But, I will be checking online, and if the music gods give me the gift of 2 tickets to the Saturday (September 16th show) I will purchase them immediately. I have never done a pre-sale so I am kind of tripping. I want to go so bad its ridiculous.

I been hearing rumors about the some dates... I'm sure the correct info will be posted here sometime soon.

Also, the presale isn't first come/first serve... it was stated on the front page.

Looking forward to not waiting as long.. I did the pre-sale for the last show in 2002 (AWA in Phx) and it was I think 2mths or maybe even 3mths in advance.. something like that.. anyhow, if somehow the show was cancelled again (which I doubt), it wouldn't be as much of a letdown to me as it's not as long of a wait..

Yea...Man I am tripping out. The reason I asked is because I had to sign up twice and I know my second is being accepted. My desire to go to this show is taking over the reasoning center of my brain. I did read it, and forgot.

Man, This little getway I am taking, I have to make damn sure is romantic for my woman. I have things planned. But in light of this presale and the drive to go to the Saturday show is making me crazy right now. How to manage my woman and getting online to get the tickets.... and I am at work which doesnt help.

Presale for the smaller venues is a great idea. I got stuck buying my Hammerstien tickets off ebay and I paid for it. But in th end it was well worth it.

With a ticket price like $150 + $15 in fees for the Vegas shows, you don't really need eBay.

Yes it is all ages. I called yesterday and they confirmed it, all ages unless otherwise specified on their website.

We always get screwed here in Vegas. Tickets to everythign are 5 times more then anywhere else and there is no fucking reason for it.

Don't panic when the date+time is announced and you go to the site and the link isn't there.

Don't even panic if it's 2 minutes before the announced time, just keep hitting refresh on your browser. Trust me on this. : ok:

That is great advice. Failure to follow these rules will only decrease the chance of getting tickets. Those rules should be on the first post, the sign-up page, and the eventual notification to those who qualify for pre-sale.

This should be a locked sticky unto itself, before it gets burried under all the other posts. Last time people came right online and started blabbing. Nobody could shut up............

Sorry to be bitchign about this but why do you let people request as many as 4 tickets for the presale??

A venue like the Joint holds only 1,400 people of which probably at least 200 will be VIP tickets reserved for the band friends, relatives and venue staff. That leaves in the best case 1,200 tickets per show for the fans. If everybody, and I suspect most people, request 4 tickets for whatever reasons (there are some good financial ones too), then only 300 of the people who registered for the presale will get picked. And I assume you already received alot more than 300 requests.

I am sorry but I don't buy the fact that a member of a board deserves as many as 4 tickets. I mean, taking your significant other or best friend with you, yes, but taking 2 more friends.....I don't like it. If those other 2 friends were real fans they could've registered themselves as well.

Another thing is that many among us could and probably would take advantage of the 4 ticket limit to make moeny off of them. You know how it works, I buy one for me, one for my friend, and if can alsways sell the remaining two for double the price. A ticket limit of 4 leaves alot of room for scalping. And I am sure there are alot of scalpers registered in the boards as well.....they are not that stupid.

That said, my humble suggestion is to give strong preference to the 1 and 2 ticket requests for the presale and that should be a major criterion.

Another criterion, of course, can be the longevity of a board account and the board itself. Although I am shooting myslef in the foot here, sicne I opted to list HTGHT as my board where I've only been a member since April despite the fact that I've been visiting the site for 2 years now. There are other boards where I've been a member for many years but I didn't list them since I am not sure what your opinion of them might be.

I entirely agree 2 should be the limit, at least this would somewhat cut down on scalping issues.? Scalpers are the bain of the earth IMO and it sickens me that this practice has so overtaken the ticket sale industry to the point where people are forking over 3 times or more sometimes just to see their favorite artist, especially these days when ticket prices are high enough.? Or even worse, not being able to afford a ticket because the re-sale price is just too high.

I have no issue giving my money to support an artist but when I know it's going to the grubby hands of someone whose sole purpose is to rob fans, that just burns me to no end.

That being said, I hope everyone here that does receive a PW for these shows uses it wisely and doesn't throw it around to just anyone or use it to make a buck.

I understand all of you, and you're probably right too, but i also think a lot of people can't afford to buy 4 tickets and don't know for sure if they can sell them later to anybody else. Especially not for the double ammount.

Tom Petty's system has worked pretty well.  You can't get the tickets unless you pick them up at will call that night.  He did that after scalpers got a whole bunch of tickets for the New York show.  Tickets were voided that were found on various sites for sale.

Four was the maximum last time for the New York and London shows, and that's why it says four now.

It's not my decision.

Wondering if they will do this. On the ticketmaster page it does say only person with valid ID will be able to pick up tickets at will call.

It says that for every band/every show if you buy your tickets with a credit card and have them waiting at will call for you....

Yeah, Tom has an amazing presale system. You do have to pay $30 to get into his fan club to get the passwords, but that includes a copy of his new album, which would've cost me $10 anyhow. 
I used his presale system for 3 shows coming up, here were my results

Chicago 1st night: 7th row center
Chicago 2nd night: 5th row center
Madison, Wisconsin: 6th row center

He was even so kind to let the first 150 presale tickets to sell for the Chicago shows go at HALF price, so the first night I am sitting 7th row for 50% off.

And yeah, the tickets can ONLY be picked up at will-call  1 hour before the show.  Now of course, scalpers could agree to pick up the tix and do the transaction at the venue, but I don't think many of the customers would be willing to 'jump through those hoops.'

The presale worked great last time, I'd say 95% of the people here got their tickets at face value.....

I think it's fine the way it is, everyone on here was selling extras at face value and it was working great, this ticket limit of 4 helped accumulate extra tickets for the board.

And they all got used up. :)

I think this system should work well I think a 1 ticket only presale would be a little extreme but if their are too many requests maybe that should be the way it goes. : ok:

One last thing too guys.. follow Jarmo's advice and keep talking about what is going on to a minimum in public forums, use the im feature as much as you can.. also, be sure to check your bulk mail folders as well if you are expecting information, sometimes it goes there as well.

I went to ticketmaster and it says the presale for the shows is friday.  Also I looked at ebay and stubhub and people are already listing tickets for sale.  I wonder if they even have them yet or if they are just planning on getting them to sell.

ticketmaster should only sell tickets for people in CA or in the area. for the CA show. like i kno i wont be able to get one any of the show..

There were face value tickets for Hammerstein ALL OVER this board after the shows had sold out. 

This board and others as some kind soul from another forum sold me his tickets for the 17th @ Hammerstein last minute simply at face.  Which is why I stick around here, 1st my love of GNR and secondly because I have encountered some really nice people who are here for the same reason, love of the band. 

No, having scalpers buy assloads of tickets and sell them to people who pay 3 times face value is elitist bullshit. This is a way to give true fans acess.

so the san francisco show is in some place called the warfield right?..

kinda cool that they have one of their warmup gigs for this tour at the same place they did a warm up gig in 1991 for the UYI tour..

Yes, I believe it's the same place.

I think it's cool that they're playing these smaller places in addition to the arenas and festivals.  8)
