Title: 98.9 The Rock in Kansas City
Post by: Minneapolisnewsman on August 17, 2006, 10:18:20 PM
A friend called me today, and said that around 4:30 this afternoon, NeanderPaul (Paul Marshall afternoon DJ/music programmer who has been critical of Axl in the past--but loves GNR), said that he received a cd in a brown paper sack with a note daring him to play it.? Well he did.? It was Better!? He said that many people including himself, have been harsh on Axl, but that everyone has to admit that the song is kick ass (or something like this)!!!? I hope management does not get mad at him, because this really represents a huge shift in the attitude toward the new GNR.? ?A few years ago, I think many DJ's were hesitant to push any new GNR material, but now they are starting to come around.? Anyhow, very cool of The Rock!!

Yep he is from Boston, and worked there with another Entercom station. ?Entercom, it seems, is going to push this album: ?Entercom stations have pushed the leaks, and it seems they have insight regarding the upcoming tour. It's almost as if, they have some sort of deal with Sanctuary and Interscope. ? Anyway's, my friend said Better really rocked on the radio, and 98.9 The Rock is the most listened to station in Kansas City--good publicity!!

Do you know if it's the same leak we all have?  Or a studio quality version?

My friend indicated it's the leaked version that we all have.  He mentioned that NeanderPaul said it was not the finished version, but loved the song.  Intersting to say the least.

AFD demos was made by a completly different band. I guess that times they used to make demos like a test, like just a jam....
The Better demo sounds like something more professional.....

From al the demos, BETTER sounds like the more close to the final product IMO.

what I tried to say is that times the band was Duff, Slash, Steven, Axl and Izzy, and was 80's, different technology....
Nowadays, I bet a person like Axl has in his backyard a studio that can be recorded any high quality song....

The "version" played was the breakdown part, or heavy part when played live looped a couple of times.  It sounded like someone just stuck it into shitty editing software and copy and pasted a few times.  It's not Paul's fault for believing this to be an alternate version, as he told me, because he is not a G N' R freak like the rest of us.  So, it's new G N' R on the radio, but a bit misleading.  More leaks to come apparently.
