Until more dates come, I'll be skeptical that this is a sign of a full blown tour.
That it's in Vegas, at a small venue like the Hard Rock....this could just be a teaser show for later in the fall.
Regardless, this has to be a sign that we've GOT to hear some CD news (good or bad) within the next two weeks.

Seriously...I am fucking in on the party. We have to do this proper like. Shit dinner at the Rainbow would be awesome and so fucking appropriate. We would need to kick it at someone hotel first ...or after for some good ole needle sharing!

Let me know, I can make reservations...i could reseve a place at the Rainbow (although before about 11 pm theres never anyone in there anyways) When i was at the Rainbow saturday before the Korn show, I was only in there probably 2 hours, and i saw gnr videos at least 5 times, lol.

I hope with the incoming tour dates, that we get a CD release date soon. ?I think a ton of non-die hard fans want to pull for this band but with their own material. ?I think the next few weeks are goign to be really exciting, I hope we see something similar to what we saw in the late spring how Euro dates kept getting added by the day

I think a forum presale would be NICE.  I also think it depends what kind of venues they're playing.  Obviously not all of the US dates can be festivals, esp as it gets later into the fall, and I would have to assume they would look toward arenas.  With that in mind, trying to fight for general release tickets for MSG will drive me insane.

well what is the capacity of that venue?...hammerstien was only like 3500 people that's why there was a presale for them 4 shows was only 14,000 seats total!! :peace:

I hope when they come back to the East Coast, that the seats are not general admission. ?I got online for Hammerstein at 3:30, I was one of the first 50 people probably in the place, but the weather was great.I couldnt imagine doing that in December lol

Depending on who's headlining, the room converts from a standard concert hall with folding chairs and small round tables to an open floor for dancing and even moshing. The acoustics are superb, equally pristine for the hard-rocking thump of Danzig or the quiet bluegrass fiddle of Alison Krauss. Sometimes the place can get overloaded (as can many of the patrons), and you'll definitely pay for the privilege of seeing an arena band in a 1,500-seat venue. But when The Joint is jumping, it's the best place in town.

this is like same thing all over again. i mean how many warm up gigs will there be in the usa before the cd and single come out and in what year?? ???? i smell a cd/single delayment into 2007 or longer because of all these tour shows being announced for fall 2006. it looks like gnr will always be known as a "live band" instead of being known for what they should be known for today as a "studio band" with this new news all gnr is in my mind is a live band who don't even know where the studio is anymore?

Great news.   I saw one of the 01 shows and this venue is great.

I'll be there with microphones making sure these do not go undocumented like the last go-round.

I'll be seeing Tom Petty in Chicago the 2 nights previous, so itll work out great. Cheaper to fly to Vegas from Chicago than from Milwaukee.

That'd be definitely a great privilege but with the place having only a seating capacity of 1500 it should be extremely difficult to get a ticket. I doubt if there're enough for a forum presale. :nervous:

These are probably the warmup gigs for the US much like the Hammerstein shows were the European warm-ups.

Ladies and gentlemen..

Chinese Democracy has begun.? : ok:

Shhh! If you say it (type it rather) out loud it won't come true! Seriously though, this is fantastic news. I can't wait until the tour dates start pouring in one by one. Maybe they'll even play Philly! 2006 has really turned out to be a great year for GNR fans so far.

Only 1500?!! Good and bad at the same time.
thanks neemo. I asked about it earlier but no reply. :(

But when The Joint is jumping, it's the best place in town.

http://www.vegasticketsnow.com/the-joint-las-vegas-tickets.asp

That'd be definitely a great privilege but with the place having only a seating capacity of 1500 it should be extremely difficult to get a ticket. I doubt if there're enough for a forum presale. :nervous:

I don't know. When I saw them there 12-31-01 they didn't even sell out. people were buying tickets that night.? Granted the tickets were $200 a pop............

That is not true. I live in Vegas, EVERY show on new years is sold out.  They may have released tickets day of, but I was trying to get tickets for weeks for that show.. and it was sold out.

I have a prediction that there will be shows in the NorthEast around Oct 7th. ?Why do I say this? ?Because I've promised my 7 yr old to take her to her first major concert on that night (Evanescence) ?It would be JUST my luck that GNR were playing their only NorthEast date on the same night ?:hihi:

Here's to a huge tour with NEW material! ?

There is time, but do any of you really believe that there will be any news from GNR on an album or a single before the Vegas dates?  Hell they didn't even announce these gigs, someone on here found the advertisement on the website.  And tickets go on sale in 5 days!  Axl is still in Europe.  I think they plan on touring the US just like they did Europe.  With a heavy AFD set and no album to speak of.  I won't waste my cash on the same gig I saw in 2002.

A part of me really wants to go to Vegas, but I already travelled to NY for opening night at The Hammerstein. I was lucky enough to hear TWAT, Better, IRS, The Blues, Madagascar, and Chinese Democracy at the same show. I know if I go to the Vegas shows, the setlist will just be the same ole rehash of 2002 and 2006 that i've seen and heard before. God damn Axl, why can't you do the right thing and release the fucking album before you start this North American Tour. I will come to see you if you play in Seattle or Vancouver before the album comes out. It would be nice if you could save me the ferry expense and come play Victoria at The Save on Foods Centre. I promise everyone here will be too stoned to bother rioting if you show up late or walk off stage. ?

I would be great to get a CD dominant setlist at the Vegas shows, then after that balance out the rest of the shows, but I think GNR has to do something to just get CD material out there, if they can't manifest a way to release it.

I'd say probably a bit less, around $100.  Most big name shows in casino theaters tend to draw a good deal more than their regular tour prices.
Tool was $65-85, so I would say GnR may be $80-100.

Then again, I'd be far from shocked if the tickets were $125 again. the only reason I think the ones in 01 would be a bit more is because GnR was doing NO shows around the time.  GnR have done, what, 42 shows this year?

I believe they were closer to $250 [Just checked, and floor was actually $150] when I saw them at HOB in 01 - so I would suggest expecting them to cost quite a bit more...

01/01/01 was the return of GNR, it was 7 years since their last show .... but which was the better performance 01/01/01 or the end of 01 shows?  Theres no doubt in my mind that 2006 is going to be the stand out based on what the year has produced from GNR so far.

Title: Re: GUNS IN VEGAS!!! CONFIRMED!!!!!
Post by: dankrass on August 14, 2006, 10:44:10 PM
No question, these shows should be, by far, the best of the Vegas shows.  Though the 12/29,31/01 shows were a blast, Axl's voice is in a way better place this year.  Though I still think Buckethead was the best guitarist GnR has had since Slash, Robin Finck really stepped it up in 2006.  He went from a timid, unsure-of-himself 'throw away,' to a real force in Guns N Roses.   Though he can't be what bucket was, he's done a stellar job, acing as a man possesssed, putting everything he possibly can into his performances.  Richard has really stepped up as well, though his role isn't as large.  In years past, they truly did not seem to be a band onstage.   Now, they really are.   I'm excited for these shows. Hopefully they can manage to learn how to mix sound properly in a room this size; I was not happy at all, sound-wise, at the Joint in 01, and Hammerstein was not much better --- the vocal mix is just never right on the louder numbers.

They can change the order, but those should be the songs, they could mix in other songs like out to get me and rocketqueen, my michelle, but they should play all the leaks and live songs from 02. The set list should have atleast 6 new songs plus the firist single.

that would be great, 8 new songs, as long as they start to balance out and play their own material, obviously we are their fans, so we are goign to support their new material.  I know this might be off topic but I ve been thinking why buckethead quit and maybe he just got tired of playing old songs, bc he s confident in his material and thats what he wants to play, just a though

I still hope they will return with 2 guitar players (Robin and Richard). Don't get me wrong, I like bbf, I like the guy, but this band could be even more a "real band" with just 2 guitar players. They would be tigher! It would look less like "Axl and his hundreds musicians onstage". The European Tour was already very good. But they could still do better if they arranged a few things.

Title: Re: GUNS IN VEGAS!!! CONFIRMED!!!!!
Post by: jazjme on August 15, 2006, 06:10:57 AM
That is narroe minded thinking imo, there has always been evolution in bands and what lind of band and such, for instance back in the 60's my dad was bass player for a band called olive, they consisted of a lead guitar, bass, female and male lead vocals, drummer.  Had they not a asshole manager who fucked over the female lead singer, things were looking good, poin tis look later on to bands like Fleetwood MAc, and other bands that had different configurations, its obviously been Axls vison, he wanted to do it with Slash and the others but they wanted no part, (Ego perhaps). BUT seriously, I liked Bucket and I like BBF, and seems things are goin right they way Axl has invisioned he wants the band so not to disrespect you nes, but we really need to see what CD brings, to really see how it all works out in the end.

BUt as far as Im concerned seeing them playu was a feast for the eyes and ears, so many things always goin on, makes goin to see the band numerous times so worth while to listen to or key in on members playing, while still absorbing the show as a whole.

Yeah, the new stuff has been written with three guitarists in mind so i dont think Bumblefoot has been given the chance to shine yet. I've said it before and i will say it again.... most of the songs on Appetite were arranged and recorded with three or more guitars, Slash doubled up on alot of songs to beef them out. The old songs that this band play are more true to the recordings than they ever were back in the old days!

I dont think we will see anymore new material on the US tour though, i recon America is going to get the exact same set. This is 2002 all over again except they are actually going to follow through with CD after the end of the tour. Just my opinion

Yeah right, and I think they also need 20 guitar players to play "you ain't the first", man it's too complicated for Richard and Robin, there are so many guitar parts there! way way too complicated for them?:hihi:
Anyway, to be more serious, they might play Rhyad and Catcher... they were on the setlist of the European tour I think? ;)
I'd like to hear Catcher in the Rye :)
Can't wait for september?

Anyway, to be more serious and less sarcastic, they might play Rhyad and Catcher... they were on the setlist of the European tour I think. and believe me, I really, really can't see 3 guitar players on Catcher in the Rye

Im just saying that for all we know the 40 or so songs they claim to have recorded are probably written around 3 main guitarists, not 2 like in the old band, that is why Bumblefoot is there, that is why he will remain there. I can see 3 guitarists playing Catcher in the Rye, all you do is have 2 playing the rythem parts, it makes the whole live sound of the band much warmer, thats the only word i can think of to describe it, it just sounds better in my opinion. You must have seen some of the bootlegs of the old band, especially in the Gilby days when you could barely hear the rythem guitar, to me, when i watch those performances they just sound so empty. They are still amazing because Slash is one hell of a player but i do prefer this current line up with the extra guitarist, but thats just personal preference.

If there is no presale ...then I guess its 10 a.m. Saturday to try and get the tickets. But my cousins birthday party starts at 10 on saturday. Obviously getting these tickets is more important and in time I would hope my cuz would understand. I am nervous as shit  because this Vegas is still uncertain if we will be able to even get tickets. ...so sweet! I wonder how this will go down. Like do we have notice, or do we have to keep hitting refresh on our email, and hope that we will have a message with a password or something from Jarmo or Mysteron?

Found a nice airfare... $189 r/t.

I'm not going to book it until Saturday to make sure the tickets actually go onsale.

Holy Crap! Where are you flying from and how'd you get that rate? If I could lower mine, that'd be awesome!

Out of Chicago.  Southwest Airlines.  I'm from Milwaukee, but will fortunately be in Chicago the 2 days before the GnR vegas shows seeing 2 Tom Petty gigs... so ill just fly out from there.

Yes. And they oversold the fuck out of it.  Your best bet is to get on the drink rail behind the main floor/pit area.  You are still very close and see over the crowd, you can lean on something, and you have actually air flowing in front of you, not sweaty people.

Also, most of the people will flood into the pit area so its not like you have to be right up front in line to get a spot on the rail.

True, I went to Korn last staurday at the joint...but I always end up fighting my way up front everytime I see a show there, most people flock to the bottom, but you can still usually get in from the side and straight to the front....hell, when i saw motley crue there, I stood in the very back at the bar and still had a great view

Its just the balcony, when you buy tickets just ask. You'll get full bar service and waitresses, but to me, it'd kinda suck being up there when i could be on the floor in front anyways

Lol didnt ealize there aren't seats. Sounds like the paladium kind of joint. Thats cool. My wife is clueless to seeing bands in hollywood in places like this. This is going to be very badass. Hopefully no smelly motherfuckers.

Showers are your friends.

Yep. It is kind of high, but it's GNR. I'd give one of my kidneys to see them.

I see you're in the same boat as me.  God knows what I'd give.  Would be nice to be rich, just travel all over and see the boys play.  I'll just have to hope for a houston show this time around.

Was it the acoustics at the joint...or just technical sound board problems, etc..?

It was GnR.   Too much volume/square footage.  The vocals were drowned out, just like at Hammerstein, but far worse at the Joint.
Trust me, it's not the room - this is a premier hall. I've seen 2 other shows here (both Bob Dylan) and the sound was perfect!  Now, Bob D isnt as loud as GnR, but this was about 5 years ago when  he had his 3-guitar version of his band, so there are lots of songs that get cookin', and even on the very loud tunes, it was spot on.

Even at Chicago 02, I thought the sound mix was sub-par. Again, ive seen many other shows there where it was spot-on.   I don't know who does sound for GnR these days, but they are severely lacking in ability.   I almost prefer to see them in outdoor venues from now on, as its even harder to screw up a sound mix in an open-air environment --- but with my experiences with GnR' sound team, I wouldn't be surprised if they screwed that up too.

The acoustics are great at the joint....ive been to at least 40+ shows there....its what the place was designed for...most of the shows sounded great, some were so-so....yeah, the last time i saw Gn'R there, the music overpowered the vocals

last time i was at the joint the sound was great!!  GNR is probably harder to mix but hope their sound guy has been learning how to do it lately......

The last time I saw GnR at the Joint was the Dec. 29th show, the first of the two shows they did there. That show had a lot of technical difficulties and the overall sound was muddy.  From what I heard, the second show was great, they fixed the problems and rocked the house.

Now I have to choose wich show to buy tickets for because Im only going to one.

Wich night do you think they will be better. :nervous:

I think you can count on the band being on their game both nights.

Axl will be well rested and should have no problem delivering back-to-back vocal performances.

I'd say either one, but if I had to pick (I don't, I'm seeing both), I'd see the 2nd.... the only reason being they havent played in over a month and, though they should NOT be, they could be a tad rusty the first night.

If I had to choose i'd pick the first vegas gig because there is a possibility they may bust out a new tune/single!!!

Thats cool man.  I was leaning toward the second night for that same reason. BUT..

The energy level might be off the hook the first night being a sat. night in vegas and the first show in a while. If there are no tech probs then that could be the better show.

I dont know, I have till sat to think about it. thanks man. :nervous: : ok: :peace:

Theres a virtual tour of the joint located here:

http://www.hardrockhotel.com/virtual/index.html

Looks very cool...Does anyone know if the floor is at an incline?
Im only 5'7 and seems like If Im somewhere in the middle, I may have trouble seeing.

Also if you get up to go to the bathroom or grab a drink, how hard is it to slime your way
back to your spot? (Im thinking Id try for a spot behind one of the rails).

Thanks!

I I remember correctly it is not on an incline. I think there are ramps on the side of the room for wheelchair access. Maybe........

I went to the bathroom twice during the last LV gig and got back in no problem at all.

I got in late and still was able to get fairly close. The place is small, any spot is a great one!

Nope, no incline.

It's a great room, saw The Cult there at the beginning of March and thought the place was very cool.

I went to 4 shows in 02 and there is no way in hell i'm missing this one! Would be great to hear from some of you from Calgary, or even Western Canada for that matter.

Didn't bother to create a new thread, but I'll guess there will be a new 'update-thread' tomorrow...

So, what do you think... any surprises tomorrow, can we hope for a new song? Personally, I hope they'll play Catcher In The Rye!

Still, I can't wait to see the updates!! Who's gonna be sending them?
