Title: Brief Axl mention by Dave Navarro
Post by: Falcon on August 12, 2006, 04:29:03 PM
Nothing much, but complementary nonetheless..

From www.6767.com

"I remember seeing Axl one night after having just gotten over losing his voice. He sounded sketchy, but man, could he put on a show. I would watch him like that over a perfect sounding Hootie any day!"

What does this have to do with the topic?

....how? Kiedis was the one on drugs at the time.

on topic, I know Dave loves Axl so it's not really a shocker to hear him say something nice about him. go Dave! : ok:

Dave is still a legend :)

Yeah, why? Because his style didn't mesh with the rest of 'em?

What do i think of the dirt? Without that guy i wouldn't be here. He's the greatest, y'know. I can't say enough good things about. Just thinking about how absolutly perfect he is wants to make me cry. *sob* Could we stop the interview for a minute? I have something in my eye

I'm curious about this, too.  Elaboration?

If you wanna talk about Dave Navarro's career in RHCP, go to the index page and look for 'Bad Obsession'

Dave Navarro is a great guitarist, but he's no legend. Axl is a legend, Freddie Mercury is a legend, John Lennon is a legend...

He means he would rather watch Axl on a bad night over someone with no showmanship on a good night.

That's a nice thing to say.....a lot of celebrities it seems like are going into Axl's corner.

Did he get a chance to finish this interview?

no, he skewered his eye ball when foolishly trying to get an eyelash out using a 7th century Samurai Sword and had to be rushed to hospital.

pity.

I kinda feel bad because apparently I got him where he is today in terms of his samurai swordsmanship skills.

Don't feel too bad. Its not all your fault. After years under your tutilage in the noble art of Samurai he left and became the padawan learner of Obi Wan Kenobi. He learned to use the force.

He mistakenly skewered his left eye whilst trying to clean it with the afforementioned 7th century Samurai Sword whilst using the force. Obi Wan is to blame.

He means axl voice was just coming back after he lost it, so his voice wasn't 100% perfect yet and that Dave would rather see Axl with a so-so voice than some musicians when they sound their best.

Dave has good taste and he is a phenomenal guitar player! He didn't ruin RHCP's career either, he played on one of their greatest albums ever ONE HOT MINUTE. I would much rather that than their latest tripe (Everything pre- By The Way was great).

I love navarro, and his solo project is good, better than most out there.

I personaly never liked RHCP so all their stuff is crap IMO. (THEY ARE BORRING)

Navarro was probably the best musician involved with GNR (Except Slash/Brian May)
and I'm really sorry that he didnt stick around longer.

I didnt realise Dave Navarro had so many fans. I thought he was one of the most widely hated guitarists.

I dont really know what hes like - didnt listen to hard to One Hot Minute and never got into Janes Addiction.

navarro is the only guitarist in the new gnr that could fill in for Slash.
I'm a huge fan of Robin Finck, but no matter what I think that if Navarro stayed in the band we wouldnt need finck or bumblefoot.
that's how Navarro is great IMO.

Navarro is great, and I wish I knew more about his involvement with the band.
if he is one of the most widely hated guituarist, then I like him even more :-*

Would this be the Sunday Night May show in NYC at Hammerstein? He did mention losing his voice from the Friday first show there. Anyone know if Navarro was there? It's the one night I went to.

Yeah there were a lot of big names there on Sunday.

I know I saw lenny Kravitz and Fred Durst, and the guy from Sin Ciy in the 1st balcony on the other side of them. I heard others were there..but they probably arrived after the lights went off and the band cam on.

Nope, it was back in the day.

Dave was not at any of the Hammerstein shows.

Jane's Addiction's first three albums (Strays does NOT count as a Jane's album in my opinion) stands up to anything GnR has put out, no question.

Ritual De Lo Habitual probably surpasses Appetite as a favorite album of mine, probably my favorite album of all time.

Man, you're missing out! Go pick up 'Nothings Shocking' and 'Ritual De Lo Habitual' by Janes Addiction! OR if you can't stand Perrys voice (I know a lot of people can't) check out Daves new band The Panic Channel, they have a new CD out and it's kick ass  : ok:
