Maybe, since this will be aired in August, they're allowing the new songs because the album (or a single) is not too far away then. We already know that the album is slated for a fall/late fall release.

At Rock am Ring they played Better, The Blues, Madagascar and IRS, which means they'll play at least one of the leaked songs.

i guess they`ll show better, IRS and madagascar. that`s what i hope at least. the blues was cool, but nothing against those 3 songs i mentioned. it`s also possible that they`ll leave out madagascar, since axl fucked up the beginning and they had to restart the song.

anyways... i`m so fuckin happy that they`ll show the new songs. maybe the dude who wrote the email got confused and thought there were just 3 new songs played..... we`ll see :beer:

Are you in the UK? From what I've been reading only the old Sky analogue dish will pick up WDR, and also only if you point in at 19.2 degrees east. Sky Digital uses a different satellite now at 28 degrees unfortunately.

me too.... however, my TV is nearly broken so i won`t be able to watch the concert in it`s full glory on thursday (yeah....  friday... whatever). it`s not really terrific, but the monitor is a little red and the sound is not quite perfect. still good enough and when i get the dvd everything is cool :hihi:

When I watch IRS (audience shot) on youtube and see the pro footage of My Michelle and Paradise City and u can hear and see how tight this band is and how powerful Axl's voice is again.. it just makes me want some complete pro shot really badly!!

I've seen these Rockpalast broadcasts before.  They used to show large chunks of festival performances, usually from the Bizarre Festival in Germany.

I recall seeing full sets from Smashing Pumpkins, NoFX, Ash, Metallica and loads of other bands over the summer.

If you buy some DVD bootlegs off Ebay you'll come accross them.

Yeah, i often watch concerts on WDR .
WDR also presented Rock am Ring together with MTV (as a sponsor) . So you bet on the fact that it will be A+ picture & sound quality.

fans shouldnt worry! this will be available as torrent on DIME within the next days, mint from satelite....we'll see who is fastest...problem is menus will be simple but as long as its a pure digital high bitrate satelite capture thats not a problem. assuming it works out fine i cant do this before next tuesday...so probably some other freaks will torrent it before? :beer:

Just a request - could you please leave the audio as pure PCM?? I beleive WDR broadcast audio in high quality so when you make dvd please keep the audio at the highest quality it was broadcast.  ;D

a pure digital satelite (high bitrate) capture means its exactly a "clone" of the broadcast, no re-encoding. this probably means (according to the latest WDR Rockpalast broadcasts) that we will get 6000-7000 video bitrate average + 256kbps audio. and this IS MINT cause allready coming from professional recordings/equipment!!!!(but pure LPCM in digital age these years is some rare and probably wont return on broadcasts in the near future)
and i'm sure some freaks will exactly capture that and put it on Dime within 2-3 days.

WDR might do some weird editing though....like very fast angle changing/lot of zooming out/in + sharpen/un-sharpen etc.
however.....we finally will get a mint 90min proshot? : ok:

the gnr camp checked the show before, avoiding a desaster like rio.... if axl/management agreed to the broadcast, you can bet on a great dvd : ok:


it`s a fuckin shame!!!!   maddy was easily my highlight of the concert. i stood there and couldn`t believe how great that song was. people were praising the song before, but i`ve never actually been into it that much. not as much as IRS, rhiad, or twat at least.... (before the leaks rhiad was my favourite song : ok:)        and well....  the maddy version from rock am ring was perfect. i hope it`ll leak at some point in the future.

the problem is: Axl was not in form this day. Won't be the best concert performance wise  :(

just listen to the bootleg, Axl sings really bad in some songs (eg the blues, horrible performance)

you know it is always hard to judge by listening to bootlegs.
I was there and the whole thing sounded fucking good to me. But maybe that was only because i waited for 13 years to see them again .

But oh well, beggars can't be choosers.

I think it will be ok, the whole performance will have been touched up, they must have done something to it after all this time!

I'm recording the show with PROG DVB, the best program IMO. It records in MPEG 2 quality  :peace:

I don?t have ProgDVB installed right now, but if you get the "Device not started" message, you should try the devices which start with "budget-xxx" those work well for almost every device & try updating your drivers from your satellite card / DVB-T stick.

my advice:
enjoy the broadcast, dont bother capturing from inferior sources like DVB-T/VHS and stuff. the best source from DVB-S will appear really soon for all

ah its not just me when Paris was shown on channel 4 back in 92/93 i recorded it but for some reason the video was set to mono i hated myself for months after that plus i had to wait 12 years till i got the uncut DVD

i hope a recording of this arrives pretty quickly would love to see it

someone should convert the master to AUDIO and throw it up on rapidshare or megaupload and it will easily be the best sounding boot of the 06 tour

There's really no reason to rush it - I'm sure a FLAC file of the broadcast will surface soon enough.

Apparently picture and sound quality is awesome. Axl's voice is excellent.

I'm guessing it will be ready for download in some kind of raw version (no menus no nothing) in about 12 hours (not from me yet). Just a guess though.

About the quality i would give it a 8,5 maybe 9 out of 10 for video. And 9 out of 10 for audio.

Ah...it's true. NR is on right now but the sound is 10/10!! I hear it overe the crappy headphones of me g/f cause it's pretty late and shit but compared to Rock in Rio it is unbelievable.

I am going to record it onto DVD and I'm gonna make myself a cool bootleg for my car audio!

Well, just watched it and loved every fucking second. Yeah, The Blues was far from perfect, but Better was great, this version of My Michelle pissed all over the Download one where Bach was just trying to upstage Axl imo, and as for I.R.S., it blew me away. Those of you who said it sucked, remind me to loan you my granny's hearing aid.

Great show. Nicely shot - 8/10 for that - a few too many annoying cut aways to audience shots, some of which were repeated, but on the whole good stuff. It beats any of the bootleg vids out there visually. The Manchester I.R.S. remains my favourite vid of the tour though.

i just saw better, and the band was spot on! very very tight. too bad Axl was outta breath for the whole song... at least for the most part. he sang it pretty flat. def not his best take on the song. he was struggling all the way thru and could barely sing/breath correctly

38 shows, you can't expect every song from a hard rock band to be perfect. That's what hard rock is - spontaneous, of the moment. Inconsistent either.

I don't think this was the best Better, but one of the top 3.

i've listened to other live versions, both in bootleg and in person at the concert and he didn't sing this one like it's supposed to. i'm not crucifying him for it. i'm just stating what anyone can hear. it's my favorite song from the band, and i thought the vocals were pretty bad. he's running all over the place wich made him lose his breath very quickly. the band played the song really good though.

but it's a concert. it's not supposed to be error free. i understand that Axl is human and can't deliever and earth shattering performance for everysong, every night for a 38 dates tour or whatever. so no biggie. just stating the obvious. cool tho. always a pleasure to see robin and the rest of the guys rockin out to one the best rock songs out there.

well i just watched for the 4th time in a row, and it's not as bad as i first thought. it's just some middle part that's not so good. the rest is actually pretty cool. specially cuz it's a decent pro shot. nice angles, and boyyyyyyyyyy, it's amazing to see this band rock out. they're sooo fuckin good! how could anyone say this is not guns n roses... beats me, but the old line up never sounded this good live. and you can't beat finck/fortus and Ron live, they're all so freakin cool!

My thoughts:

Axl's voice is spotty. Compare Paradise City here to the version 10 days later at Download - there's a huge improvement. His voice definitely got better as the tour progressed.

KOHD is awesome.

Mistakes: WTTJ (Axl didn't sing "My serpentine"), My Michelle (Axl starts song with second verse, corrects himself), Patience (Axl sings second verse instead of first, corrects himself), Paradise City (Axl starts his opening verse before he's supposed to)

But I really enjoyed it - thanks to NewGNR and the rest of the recorders.

I only saw WTTJ cuz I'm waiting the whole thing to download on torrent.. but that first scream just wow, is fuckin breathtaking!!!! :beer:

I love these little mistakes, that's what make concerts a real good experience. I'm not there to listen to the CD. It also shows everybody makes mistakes, it's just part of the experience in my opinion.
I loved it in Dublin when Axl started the last verse of The Blues a bit too early and had to improvise a little. :peace:

I absolutly agree on that point, I dont go to ashoe wanting to hear a  play by play of tunes, I go to shows to hear it all,the amzing  sonics that didnt get caught on tape, and the imperfections that take tunes to  doffernt levels.this isnt MEMOREXafter all!

I saw the whole thing on tv.

My opinion:

First, Axl was great, he sounded great,he looked great, lost a litte edge though...but he still has that aura ! ?: ok:

On the other hand...I got used to the idea of a "new band" before I saw this...but man, this band can't rock 'n' roll at all, especially brain ruins it, he doesn't have the groove and the feel to do it. The guitarists, with the exception of Fortus still suck really bad, now I miss the old band more than ever. I couldn't stop myself from thinking: "This is ALL wrong" during the entire show. It's simply not working. During the new songs, to me it looked like Axl felt the same way, you can see a difference there...the new songs weren't written by a functioning rock 'n' roll band, that's why they don't work live. When "better" came up the quality (song-wise) dropped so much after the great first songs...sad. Robin hurried to get through the opening riff of "sweet child" and realized it, you can see that as well...he's still scared to play that...but who wouldn't ? And so on....
My conclusion:
This is ALL wrong.
It's just not working.

I'm not a hater, I so wanted to enjoy this and everybody who truly does enjoy it, more power to you ! ?:beer:
But really, if you're ?REALLY, REALLY honest about it....oh well !

Did You see them live on this tour?... With all the respect, but this band CAN rock 'n' roll and they do it great. Brain and Frank later were amazing, nothing but amazing. As all of them was. I saw them only twice and I didn't notice a single band member having bad time or not grooving...

To be honest with you, I think your big expectaions and un-fairness to this new Guns ruined it big time for you.

his voice at rock am ring was far superior to his voice in holland, which was a month later. so i don?t know about his voice improving during the tour. i mean yeah.... maybe he had an off night in holland, because they played the day before in zurich, but you definitely can?t say in general that his voice is better because the concert was later on the tour : ok:

ya but if you look at his voice on some of those UK gigs it was stronger than both of those shows.   Its just a matter of having on and off nights.

well i just saw the brodcast, first it is great to see GNR on TV it is so rare especially here in europe (compared to lucky south americans).

 :hihi: Just watched Better. The picture quality is the best so far. Just after Axl leaves the stage to walk infront of the Audience i laughed when he attempted to get back onto the stage. He puts one leg up onto the stage and has second thoughts, he was either thinking 'oh shit, that's too high up and i'm not as fit as i used to be or damn these trousers lack stretchyness'  :hihi: he opts to step onto an object lower down and then onto the stage.

The best part of Better 'Robins solo towards the end' cannot be heard  :peace:

The audio must of been reworked or somethink. Because if you watch WTTJ during the 1:50-2:00  part (on the wmv version will uploaded it about at that time frame) , his mic is nowhere his mouth and the scenes are wrong.

i never thought i would say this but the new band really sounds better than the old one, they are absolutely better now than in 2002.

Axl sounds really fucking good to me. I always hated the way he sings the part in LALD "You got to do it Welllllla." He did the same shit back in the day. The other ones would definitely be thrown at zombies Shawn style.

I am a Mac user. Once I downloaded the torrent (using Bit Torrent), I used DVD Imager and made a copy of the videos (it automatically creeated the auido file). Then just went to disk utility and burned the created image straight to the dvd. Shit was smooth. Real smooth. The chapters are already intact. Fucking awesome. This process of getting it on the dvd took no longer then 20-30 minutes.


And why the fuck wouldnt you want this on dvd? It even looks better then watching the raw files on the monitor. Sound is fucking awesome (minus Robins mix). I think its 256. Thank the gods bitches. This outclasses the official live dvd in every way. Plus this show isnt gay which helps.

OK, I have them in individual AVI format?  Can I use these, or do I need to download the Torrent?  Also is DVD Imager a program that needs to be downloaded? 

First off the Torrent has the better quality as it isnt compressed and shit. Its already DVD formated with the chapters/menu set and all. But alright using the  AVI files, you could drop them right in iMovie. Set you dvd with the chapters. Then have it auto sent to iDVD. Create your menu an burn right from iDVD. The torrents take a long time to download. I am talking a good 30+ hours. That sucks. But getting the files together and burning them to dvd was real quick like I mentioned. Creating a dvd with AVI files and the burning time (which could take at least 5 hours)... well, that is what your looking at. I had AVI ones I downloaded from Will (thanks Will). But later decided to get the real files with Torrent. I think I am glad I did as it does look better and having it play as it is intended, with the quick post production...seems worth it.

But shit dude...hope this helps. The AVI files still kick ass so whatever you want to do.

I dunno, i just got this and have to admit i was expecting more. Axl really wasnt on form that night at all. I was at the Wembley show on the 29th and it might just well have been a different Axl that night, the band was outstanding. This performance doesnt do the band justice, thats just my honest opinion!

no problem dude.... it`s cool. although i heavily disagree with you on this one. live the show was perfect and on dvd it`s fuckin awesome. many other shows i saw vids from from this tour couldn`t hold a candle against this one regarding axl`s voice. he couldn`t really deliver like that in nijmegen where i attended the concert, althougth it wasn`t a bad show. it was just that his voice wasn`t spot on during many songs.  this goes for many other shows (mostly the earlier ones) as well. i think he just wasn`t that fit in the beginning and a little chubby as well.

i think it was a good decision to attend two concerts being two months apart in oder to be able to compare. however, the rescheduled z?rich gig on july 1st wasn`t really helpful for ax be completely fit on july 2nd....

the show itself was great, but axl sometimes had a very hard time hitting the high notes.... especially during out ta get me and the blues. at least that`s what i remember. 

edit:  i think nightrain was the song that dissapointed me, not the blues. at rock am ring he was spot on. you can`t top that and some of the screams in nijmegen lacked the rasp sometimes.   and the sound was too quiet :rant:

Ok, I'm in Imovie, and cannot seem to get IDVD to initialize?  I added the shows to my "clips" area of IMOvie, but am pretty much at a loggerhead at the moment.  Anyone know what I am doing wrong, or failing to do?  Thank you in advance.

Holy shit!!! Nightrain rocks! The band sounds awesome and Axl's vocals are spot on! Better is also awesome.. I don't care if he is a bit out of breath on that one cos the stage presence is there and he takes a bit out to go down to the crowd which is cool and what a live show is all about!

I can't wait to sit down and watch the whole DVD!

In my opinion Irs performance was horrible. What have they done to that beautiful song!!! They have ruined the intro and Ron ruined Bucket`s solo. He also can`t play the solo in Better. That is strange, because he does a great job when playing the old songs.

It's not always possible to replicate work done under studio conditions and with the tools to alter etc. But you are certainly entitled to your opinion and not to like it as much as the demo version  :)

I agree with you about IRS, this performance was horrible, his voice is just so shakey it really doesnt sound good at all. As i said before i know what Axl is capable of, i saw them at one of the Hammerstein warm up shows in NY which at the time i thought was amazing, but then i saw them again at Wembely on the 29th and it was a different Axl, i dont think he could have been better, his voice was just outstanding, so much better than the Hammerstein show, as were the rest of the band, just listen to the version of sailing they did!

Its a shame that the best version of better out there is the one from Download 06, when Axl doesnt look interested at all and is just locked in his own world casually singing the song........... its by far the best vocal performance and the band is pretty tight aswell even though there isnt any bass for the last min of the song. Half his problem is all the running around, i just dont think he has it in him to do it for an entire show, he should also ditch some of the clothes changes!

I dunno what im trying to say, i guess its that the success of this band, at the moment anyway, depends on Axls voice- ultimatly he has the most to proove.

I think he has really cut down on the running around.. guess it's hard to get that perfect balance.. he is getting fitter as the tour goes on too. I was watching TWAT from NY and he seems really out of breath on that one.. I bet he could nail it now.

Yeah, i guess he just needs more practice, Better seems to be one of those songs where you have to breathe at certain points to allow yourself to pull the entire thing off, i guess with practice he will figure it out. I keep reminding myself that its early days!

yeah you`ve got to register at dimeadozen to be able to download it. and you need a torrent client.

It's a private tracker site, yes. As far as I know at the minute its the only place with the best quality version. You have to sign up to use it, but keep trying every hour and  you'll get in.

You need to signup for this site and will need a torrent program like utorrent in order to dload any of the shows there.  I think they have a waiting period on signups, or at least they did when I signed up a year ago.. If you need help w/ torrents, I'm sure anyone will be able to help you.. If not, PM me, and I'll help you with it..

OTGM and Madagascar missing, as well as most of the intros, jams, and Axl's random chatter. A shame, asI'd love to hear Richard and BF's solos at that quality, especially as the video footage focuses on Axl so much of the time, it would have been nice to have some extended shots of the guitarists doing their thing.

I agree.. I hadn't watched it all the way through yet, but when I was checking it out, I thought the sound quality was outstanding.. picture quality's a little grainy, but I guess they actually planned it that way from looking at it...

Mine froze too, briefly, then again in another part.. really annoying.. plays fine on my PC, but then I'm NTSC and PAL just doesn't look right on my TV.. I wish there was a way to convert those.. it's annoying..
