I quit my last job, and didn't show up the last day of work because I had a really bad family situation to take care of... and, to be honest, my little part-time summer job was the last thing on my mind.? So anyway, when I called my manager to apologize for not coming in, she yelled at me and then hung up? ?:'(

Yeah, I understand what you mean.. I was laid off in May of '04 & it took a while to find work. I'd send out about 5 resumes a week (only to jobs I wanted & was qualified for) and would get about 1 interview a month.

It took me about 7 months to find work, and in talking to former co-workers, that seemed about the norm. So be? prepared. We collected unemployement, but because I wouldn't drive to work (gas$) and eat out for lunch ($$) I really didn';t miss the money that much. Just started to question myself & the choices I made in life. So yeah, it can bring you down. There were days I didn't want to get out of bed.. You really kinda need to find your own motivation, and myb realize there are some things about yourself you could change for the better (work ethic, positive attitude). I came across an ad in the newspaper want ads which read "You're the brain they'll brag about a year from now".

I still have the ad hanging in my bedroom.

My advice, take a road trip one day, just get away early on while you can... Next thing you know you may be working again..
