Title: The Acoustic Show
Post by: babydolls on July 31, 2006, 05:46:12 AM
I cant believe I am actually sitting in work after a weekend that dreams are made of!  I wont ramble on as others will prob have lots to say too.

The gig on saturday night at Wembley was fantastic - the sound was great, I thought the whole band were completely on fire and it sounded incredible.  I was hanging out to hear TWAT, but was really happy with the show, the covers were great, but there was still time for Rocket Queen!  There are many pages on this gig so I wont witter on - you all know about the announcements from stage that Axl made about the acoustic show - well my name wasn't called out, so I didnt think it was to be.....how wrong was I!

My friend won a ticket and thought that Axl said it was plus 1 and said that we should go with him (me and my hubbie) and we'd be fine.  So after waiting an agonising 40 mins for a cab from Wembley - we set off.  We also had in the car with us the girl who won the LA trip as well as the Acoustic show pass.  She was lovely - really nice and was completley in shock.  I really hope this trip comes off for her - I think she really deserved it.  So, we get to the club - it's tiny, I mean tiny.  There were loads of sloaney wankers leaving and when they saw us lining up, they were asking what was happening - so of course there was suddenly lots of interest from pissed up people hanging about and trying to get in.  Security were trying to usher them away - some were very resistant!

Waited in the line for about 40 mins in the end I think.  I saw Jarmo, Adz and Christos arrive (met them after the Wembley gig briefly, as well as Ignatius - nice to meet you all!) and go straight in.  It looked pretty damn hard to get in and of course I still didnt have a pass at this stage.  I wasn't going to try and blag - I honestly thought that the pass my friend had would be cool.  Seb Bach arrives, beta arrives - we were getting so excited - this was actually happening!

Then - an angel appeared and gave me a pass!  Seriously, an incredibly kind man (whose name I dont even know) had a spare pass and gave it to me.  I am so grateful to you, I dont know if you post on this board - if so, please PM me so I can thank you again.  All i know is he was Irish and a fkn legend.  So we got in (after complications with the passes - absolutely no plus 1 - had to get another pass for my husband, which happily I managed with the help of my good friend Steve (THANK YOU FOREVER).  And we were in.

I reckon there was about 80 people in there.  Very briefly met Tommy, Dizzy and Del James and then we were crushing against the stage - well, it was a step really!  I didnt see where axl appeared from (from thin air and a puff of smoke!), but suddenly he was there and it was real real REAL!
I cannot descibe the feeling.  I never thought I would see them at somewhere as intimate as Hammersmith, let alone somewhere smaller and acoustic.  I think they started playing at 4.15am ish.  Setlist i think was (correct me here Jarmo, I am very tired!)

I can't descibe Axl's mood - he was chatting, laughing, dancing, shaking hands, put on someone's straw stetson hat, someone gave him some sunglasses to put on. He was incredible.  His voice was fkn spot-on.  People were asking for requests (Civil war etc) and he was going "no, that will be denied, our survey says uh-uhh - we're not playing that!"  But he was in the best mood ever.  He was asking for a Tom Collins from the bar, something about White Russians (I think there were drinks being passed around at that point)

I couldnt see very well (am not very tall at all) - so was being lifted up by hubbie every now and then and standing on tiptoes - until I ended up on a chair at the back with a much better view.  I took some photos - but have no idea if they will be any good at all.  Couldnt get any form of audio as had a dead phone.  I was too overawed to do anything really, apart from try and take it all in.

Sad thing was - when I went to get my hubbie inside, he was waiting (in the pouring rain) and he said that lots (well 15 or so) of people behind him in the queue had left as the security would only let in one pass per person, so girls/guys who had "won" tickets were being turned away as they wouldnt/couldnt go by themselves.  I feel that was a real shame as towards the end of the night, lots of people were let in to the club (members I presume) and they were pissed up fuckheads who didnt have a clue who was playing and were too drunk to realise what was happening.  I saw Calum Best in there for godssakes.  Maybe he's a fan - but I doubt it.  I really feel for those who didnt get in - its a real pity that all the fans didnt get in and then they could have let a few members in later - not another load of suits like they did. probably 150 people there by the end.

Aside from that - this was the single most amazing GnR experience ever for me - I thanked Robin as I left (I felt like a kid at a party).  Axl was shaking hands left right and centre - didnt want to bother him and we just slipped away at the end.    Axl did say how fucking hard the band work , they play their asses off every night, and people still moan that its not the old guns n roses - and asked us to cheer for the band - I yelled my fucking head off.

Another funny moment - during paradise city - everyone was doing their thing and axl turned to Ron and said "there's more leads than that!" (meaning lead guitar parts) and Ron laughed and improv-ed more.  So many classic moments - I cant even begin to stop and put them all together in order.  I'm knackered as we didnt get home till 8am (after a pleasant stroll around an empty covent garden waiting for FUCKING TUBES to start) - then I was back to Wembley for last night (nice to meet you, Magnus). We all know what happened last night also - Seb bach was fkn great - I thought he was a total star for stepping in - no-one else could have done it.  But the midgets in paradise city - wtf????? weird and unnecessary.  I dont know whats up with Uncle Axl - but i hope he's ok.

I would like to thank a few people for such a crazy, rock n roll adventure of a weekend:  Steve (you fkn rock my friend), my Irish angel for my acoustic show pass, Jarmo (for this board, and being a nice guy), Christos and Adz and Ignatius (nice to meet you guys, thanks for saying hi back), Seb Bach for paradise city last night (and being nice in the club) - but most of all:  Axl, izzy, robin, tommy, ron, richard, dizzy, frank and chris.  :peace:

Hope everyone who was at Wembley/acoustic had a great time.  : ok:

i just didnt get it.. i know lots of rock bands have uhhh.. .vertically challenged folk on stage - but I just dont know why! it didnt seem to add anything to the show - I found it unnecessary to be honest.  TOP marks to Seb though...

they charged on when PC goes crazy and the confetti guns go off and they just seemed to be waving gnR flags and dancing about - which is fine, but I could have done without it tbh.

IRS acoustic was absolutely stunning. I was bouncing about on a chair at the back and looked over and my eyes met with Del james and we both just grinned at each other and sang like maniacs. so good I nearly cried.

Cherry's pics are fkn amazing - mine will be dreadful in comparison! - but might give an idea of the crowd size and the club -will post if they are worth it of course.

By the way - the show was filmed - I talked to the guy who was videoing and he didnt have much info. ?He said he was filming "because he was asked" and has no idea whether if it would be used on a dvd, or released or anything. ?he then asked us if we were big fans and if we'd seen them before etc. ?I dont think he understood how privilged we felt to be there. ?but there were DEF at least 2 cameras recording the whole thing - so who knows. ?He was an english guy - so i dont think he was " with the band" so to speak.

Also - half way through - axl dedicated a song to a guy called "jamie" -who was pointed out by his mates - Jamie apparently a huge fan and had braids etc. No idea who he was - but Axl thanked him for making it possible for them playing there.

Awesome - every time I read stuff about this show it sends shivers down my spine.  I'm so fuckin glad that some real die-hards got to go to this gig.

Looking forward to seeing your pics!  Cherry said she filmed a couple of short clips but she has gone on holiday for a week so we wont see them until next week some time.

I'll speak to her later and ask what they are like though.

dont hold out for much on my pics - like I said, I am very small and was a few people back - so they will be nothing in comparison to Cherry - then again I did surprise myself with a couple of great ones at Hammersmith - so who knows!  will get them up tomorrow most likely.

keep pinching myself that this did happen and was not a dream....

Thanks for sharing your experience, babydolls.  It's a great review and I bet it'll be a night you'll remember forever.  I was at the Wembley gig on Sat and gutted not to be one of the lucky ones able to go, especially as it was happening right in my own home city, but that's life, I guess.  :'(

Anyway, I'm glad that some dyed-in-the-wool fans got to attend and I'm sure you all gave the boys the reception they deserved.   : ok:

How fantastic, sounds like a total dream scenario lol. ?Awsome.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but i couldn't see it. But how did you get to attend the acoustic show? ?Was it just people in the know or was there some kind of random selection from those who attended Saturday's show?

It's a wonder they don't use their site to make sure fans only get to see things like that. ?I mean it's what fans dream of isn't it? ?Hope someones recorded it sounds amazing. ?

Some names of people in attendance at the Wembley show were randomly called out by Axl and given access to the show.  There were a few celebs that got in and I'm sure a few like Cherry who were guests.

Seems odd to me that Axl chose to do this (give selected fans access to a club gig) at the Saturday show - considering that diehard fans would have had tickets to the sunday show (as the saturday show wasn't announced until the sundays tickets had sold out)

ps - last night fuckin rocked!

It was probably due to licensing.  They may have had trouble finding an intimate venue that were able to have a live band on at that time of the morning.  Sunday licensing is shitty in lots of areas.

If these acoustic gigs are as a great as everyone says I think it'd be a great idea for Axl to let some bootleggs get out there for the bands sake. Show us how they can "play the fuck out of the old songs."

I was one of the lucky as well, and even though I'm not Jarmo, I would make some comments on the setlist. I believe that it was like this:

You're Crazy

Patience
Welcome To The Jungle
Knockin' On Heavens Door

What else can I say. The biggest night in my life ever. Came all the way from Denmark to see the 2 Wembley shows, and then getting to experience this as well... Now I can die a happy man...? :peace:

And finally....? Didn't anyone get a picture of Axl and Bach sharing that joint! A won't a picture of that? :smoking:

So we got in (after complications with the passes - absolutely no plus 1 - had to get another pass for my husband, which happily I managed with the help of my good friend Steve (THANK YOU FOREVER).  And we were in.

Great review and I'm glad it all went well! Axl did say it was a +1 and "anyone else you have in your group" but when it got to the point of collecting the envelope with the pass, GNR's security said it was a +1 only. Then when we got to the Cuckoo club the same security man said "one pass, one person" and that there were no +1's allowed. My friend and I waited back a bit and spoke to the man on the door (the short Brazilian looking one - people said he was Beta's son but I don't know if that's true) and he said "don't worry, I'll get you in" and ushered us through. HE WAS A GODSEND! If he reads this, thank you so much. Because of having to wait around I saw Axl arrive and he was posing for the paparazzi for a while. He was onstage within a few minutes of arriving.

This is the setlist... I wrote it down in order to actually remember it!  ;D

You're Crazy, Mr. Brownstone, Used To Love Her, Patience, Welcome To The Jungle, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Sweet Child O' Mine, Sway [The Rolling Stones cover], Sailing [Rod Stewart cover], Nightrain, IRS, Paradise City

I got in because I was in the right place at the exact right time. I guess it's called luck....

Thanks for your pics Leila - they are absoutely great! a fantastic reminder. ?good one Bobblehat and usk as well - thats so cool. ?Yep - it was a real shame that some people there with passes didnt get in coz of the +1 thing

am still on cloud 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ? :peace:

Laughed a lot as NME cocked up again with their reporting that it was at Koko in camden (with their brag about it being NME's home) - I hope those journos actually went there instead of Cuckoo. No wonder they dont have the set list!

The same for me....
It was an incredible night! After the show we met 2 guys which knew that the party was at Cuckoo(thanks forever!!).So we went there, but obviously we couldn't enter without pass..but..life and destiny are strange...and a man of gnr staff saw me and my friend and told us that we could get in..I can't believe it yet...
I know...too much Axl pics..I love the band..but..he's the man that shocked my life when I was 13..and after 17 years he was in front of me,for the first (and maybe for the last..) time in my life...and my photocamera couldn't stop to take picture of him..
I know that I have been very very lucky!....It has been the most incredible and unforgettable present for my july 30 birthday!!
Like a dream...

Ps : sorry for my english.. :P

Not to put a dampner on this but 2 questions:

How the fuck did Axl know the names of people who were coming to the gig.

and it seems like all the people who got in (from boards) were females.

When you buy the tickets, you have to give them your name and address for the delivery.

so let me get this right, axl randomly looked at the list of people who bought tickets and picked names and let them in..this seems like bullshit, I bet mosltly fit groupies were let in.. all the reviews ive seen are from girls.

Well, it does seem that mostly girls got in, including the one who won the thing to CA. I don't think it was Axl who picked the winners, and I wonder how the selection was made.

Lots of people from section S8 were chosen for some unknown reason. During the Wembley gig, I commented to my friend that he kept staring over at our block which was weird in itself. I travelled to Cuckoo with about 8 other winners (and their friends) and they also were in S8 and had bought their tickets on the Wednesday or Thursday prior to the show. I noticed that nearly all the names were female but one Asian boy also won, but maybe his name sounded feminine to Axl? :hihi:

Anyone that travelled to the Cuckoo show on the N18 bus please PM me - it'd be great to have a chat!

Well, to be quite honest, that was the same case for me... At 3 AM I was still standing outside Wembley, IN THE FUCKIN RAIN, and ofcourse the last thing I had in mind was the acoustic gig.

All I wanted was to get the fuck out of there. But then a true angel came my way and I found myself in there, enjoying the best GNR gig ever...

Not much to say that hasn't been said. A few details on other's reviews are wrong but I'm too tired to list them now, I'll write them down tomorrow...

my friend was at that show.

Bumblefoot replyied my message saying:

About the acoutic gig, please apologize for me to your friend, if he was in the group I was shoving back. There was a girl getting bent over onto the stage with gear crushed against her knees - the security guard stood there doing nothing, in fact he told *her* to move back as if she had any control over it... She needed help - I asked people to move back, they didn't, so I had to go into the crowd and move everyone back... :P I couldn't stand there and watch people get hurt, I had to do something.

I'm not saying that no of you went cause I believe you did. It's just a little funny how this was a surprise gig and how many HTGTH members who got "lucky" enough to receive a ticket or be in the right place at the right time. I don't care if they knew either. But if they did, what's the reason for calling it and posting it as a "surpise" show? And saying it was luck and being in the right place at the right time. It's just a little odd to me. Especially about the ones who got to attend the show.

It's luck. When somebody who recognizes you is at the door when you get there, it's luck.

I only knew of the location of gig because I heard from somebody outside another club that something might be going on there.

So, if I had arrived later to the first club I wouldn't have heard about it, and if I had arrived later at the secret location, I wouldn't have made it inside.

I consider it luck and I feel very fortunate to have witnessed that show. I'm very grateful to the people who made it happen.  : ok:

and to be honest, the gig wasn't really a secret, there was a lot of "regular" people at the gig as far as i understand and there is no surprice that a few hardcore fans gets in there aswell ... axl kept talking about it throughout the whole fuckin' concert on the 29th for gods sake..

he even read a fuckin list of names, in the middle of the show and after the show, that were in a competiton to win a ticket to the show or whatever... if you get to attend a show like that, it's luck. And anyone can be lucky.

Title: Re: The Acoustic Show
Post by: Christos AG on August 04, 2006, 09:29:31 PM
Well, here's an attempt at reviewing the acoustic gig...

At 3 am I was still at Wembley, trying to get the hell out of there, in the rain (which I like but not at that particular moment)...

Finally we see a cab and I'm going crazy cause 2 chicks stop it and are trying to take it so I'm staring at the cab driver with a REALLY WEIRD look saying "YOU ARE MINE" repeatedly, I'm pretty sure I scared some friends that night... However it worked...  ;D

We arrived at Regent street about 20 minutes later, not knowing where the acoustic gig was. And then a text on my cell from my ANGEL... God I love my ANGEL...

I go to the club and my first attempt in getting in didn't work, but then I got lucky and a friend noticed me, so I got in the second time.

Unfortunately I couldn't get my buddy in so he listened to the whole gig from outside the club.

Anyway, I managed to get infront of the band, and when the gig started it was just surreal...

So, now the details that others don't seem to remember so well, not in the right order cause I was too fuckin excited to remember this shit...

After Knockin' On Heaven's Door Axl mentioned that the first time they played this song was back in 1987, at their first gig in the UK, at the Marquee and he joked "but who cares about that?" to which I laughed and replied "WE DOOOOOO...."

At some point Ron went over to Robin's side and took his guitar to play a part of a song, don't remember which was it, and Robin just sat there watching him playing his electric guitar, which was kinda funny.

Then at some other point Axl mentioned that they only did this gig so that Robin could wear his clogs...  ;D

Babydolls mentioned a song which Axl dedicated to some guy in there, well, that guy owned the club.

When Axl denied to do a song and joked with a funny voice "Our survey says insert funny negative sound here fuck that (or fuck you or something like that)...", that song was requested by Frank, Axl said "that was Frank's first request and it was denied" so Frank laughed really hard...  :hihi:

The White Russians were drinks for the band.

Well, some assholes kept on pushing us so Ron asked repeatedly for people to go back, when they didn't do anything about it he said "I'll push you back" and he jumped into the crowd pushing everybody back, now THAT was fuckin cooooool...

The band also joked about wanting to eat some Gyros, some Greek Gyros.

Sailing was simply amazing, it was great at Wembley but at the acoustic it was fuckin unbelievable, Axl at his best. I can't stop thinking about that song since Saturday night. Axl said that Merck and someone else were very happy that they played that song.

Then Axl joked about Merck always using his cell and Merck said that he's playing his instrument.

And IRS... I don't know if I've ever said it here but the lyrics are REALLY important to me. I just love knowing the lyrics to a song. Actually when I'm buying a new cd, at first I'll read the lyrics and then I'll listen to the cd.

So Axl was singing IRS and I was reading the lyrics from his screen. While I was reading the lyrics there was some guy right behind me who was singing with the lyrics you all know and I was laughing my ass off cause the lyrics we thought we knew were so fuckin wrong.

Boy are you in for a surprise when the booklet comes out... Most of the lyrics transcribed on the forums are kinda funny when you read the real ones... or when you hear someone singing them with a crappy voice...  Don't ask me to remember them but "when you plead the fifth" or "With a cheap hangover" or "Feelin' like I'm livin' inside this song" don't exist in the song...

So, anyway, Axl was in a great mood, Chris Pittman and Frank seemed so fuckin happy, Ron REALLY enjoyed it, Richard and Tommy were having fun and Robin was kinda in his own world, which is something I love about Robin. Dizzy seemed kinda serious... But he seemed too serious to me throughout this whole tour so don't take my opinion too seriously ...

If I remember something more, I'll let ya know...

Oh, Axl also talked about when they first asked Frank to learn these songs, he replied that he already knows them cause (now I don't remember what he said exactly) "every self-respecting musician had to play these songs in the ghetto" or something like that... I'm not so sure about the ghetto...

Boy are you in for a surprise when the booklet comes out... Most of the lyrics transcribed on the forums are kinda funny when you read the real ones... or when you hear someone singing them with a crappy voice...? Don't ask me to remember them but "when you plead the fifth" or "With a cheap hangover" or "Feelin' like I'm livin' inside this song" don't exist in the song...

i always thought that that line was "Feelin' like the rhythm guitar to this song" but who knows could just be me hearing things  :hihi:

mm In that part of IRS I hear something like this:

"feeling like I r......... get tired of this sound"

is it any closer? ???

also the part where everyone think it says "plead the fifth" sounds more like "bleed the hit (hick?)"???

lol, I'm really confused now :P

Nah don't worry about it... you made great interpretation of things... btw. next time you should offer the band some MEDICA... it taste great and mix well with Red Bull? ;)

Funny how with all the rumours of Axl drinking again (and doing drugs) I can only catch the guy drinking mineral water... or champagne... I mean, how drunk can you get from champagne?

And everytime I ask if anyone did see him drinking something else, no one knows... it is like a COMMON AMNESIA? :hihi: ... what, did he bite a leg because mineral water was not good that day?

 :)

Well that is exactly what I want to prove. Everyone is taking how He is back to drugs and heavy drinking. Even if he is it is his personal choice and I don't care, but people seems to forget you can have fun and enjoy life even without it. And He said it million times in what way it affects his singing. And yes I doubt a constant drunk and drugged person to have such a detailed memories... This was posted from Sony Ericsson K800

Title: Re: The Acoustic Show
Post by: jarmo on August 05, 2006, 07:52:54 AM
I thought nothing could top the show on Saturday night. It was just amazing.

So when the show ended, we had heard rumors about an after show party in Soho. We thought we'd try and get a cab and go see what's going on there. If it failed, we could always go somewhere else for a drink or go get some sleep.

We waited at Wembley for maybe 90 minutes for a cab. We tried stopping them and calling. When we finally got one, I thought we'd arrive too late.

We get to Regent Street and go to the club where the rumored party was and security wouldn't let us in. So we waited for a bit since we had nothing better to do. Then I started noticing people outside talking about this second club.

Which made me a bit confused. Then I think Christos got a message.

We didn't have much to lose, so we headed there and pretty much as soon as we got there I was let in because a person at the door recognized me. Which was the first shock of the evening. Totally unexpected.

As mentioned, Christos got in later thanks to another person.

So I walk in and realize this place is tiny! When you got in, there's a bar at the other end of the room and to your left is like a small area with couches or something. Sort of like a separate elevated area from the dance floor. That turned out to be the stage.

The stage was being prepared, instruments were being tuned and then band members started arriving.

I remember asking Christos for a piece of paper so I could write down the setlist, otherwise there's no way I'd remember it.

The show starts around 4am and they played ten songs. It was very surreal!

I was standing to the left, right in front of Dizzy with some girls in front of me. The tallest guys, including Christos, were standing in front of Axl...

I think some of the crowd didn't seem to understand what "try to take a step back" means. When we'd take a step back, people behind us would get annoyed! Some even tried to get into the space which was created in front of us when we did. WTF? People were being pushed on stage and some people thought we were giving them an opportunity to get closer when we took a step back??

Thanks to Bumblefoot for taking care of things.? ?: ok:

After the show we hang around until the lights came on and the music stopped. When we got out there were still photographers outside.? :nervous:

Very surreal night. Thanks to GN'R for making it happen and thanks to those who made it possible for me to see it!  :)

uhm...where are the pics from that show? Im tired of looking ...I know.. I couldn't find my own ass.

Well, it's only 4 pages. LOOK.

OK, now that was funny..............

Well, it wasn't supposed to be funny.

I'm getting tired of all these people who are "tired" to look through 4 fuckin pages for a link.

It's not that fuckin difficult. Why do we have to look through 40 pages of posts full of "tired" people and the same links over and over again?

You could be nicer, and isn't it ironic... you're tired of tired people? :hihi: I honestly spent quiet a long time searching.... So I MISSED A LITTLE FUCKING LINK , well suck my big toe motherfucker, sorry for not spending 24h everyday here reading every single post to keep up with everything !? get a life :P :P

I have a life, that's why I don't wanna spend my days reading through posts like yours, asking for links that have been posted a couple of pages ago, cause all you had to do is search 4 pages, not 40.

So, "motherfucker" do your search cause next time I won't be so nice.

you dont wanna spend? but you did  :hihi: Next time you wont be so nice? oooh scary  :hihi:

The Cuckoo Club features 5,000 square feet of glamorous interior design spread over two floors, with a capacity of 300, and a committee list which reads like a who?s who of creative talent in London.

So that should be around 150/floor?

It's not our fault that the posters of Mygnrforum weren't around at 3am that night.

It's not our fault that the posters of Mygnrforum didn't know anybody who could've told them of the location.

It's not our fault that the guys at the door recognized us. All of us who got let in had gone to more than one show. In multiple countries. I really don't think there was an issue about who posts where like you people still claim.

Read this carefully cause it will be my only post about the argument over mygnr. If you have any proof that things didn't happen the way I said they happened, post it or shut the fuck up.

yeah thats real nice Christos, was there many mygnr fans there?

I don't care.

I don't give a flyin fuck if the people in there were from mygnr, cd.com, htgth.com or any other fuckin forum.

This particular argument was started and ended by your lovely admin at YOUR forum and the only reason I responded there, was cause I was being called a liar, which I'm not.

Then I got a pm that said "We don't allow people to promote forum wars."

And who exactly started this? Who kept on claiming that this forum has been treated better than theirs?

All she kept on sayin was this amazing line:

Quote
Again, if the tables were turned it was mods and members from our forum who got invited to the gig - and not yours - please don't claim you wouldn't question it or be annoyed.

If that's not promoting forum wars, then what is?

And guess what... The same thing happened in 2002 with Madison going backstage and noone questioned it or was annoyed from this forum.

Do you remember anyone saying anything when madison started telling everyone how she got backstage and talked to Axl and how he told her all about the first single?

I wasn't jealous and I didn't care about htgth members not being there. I was happy that a fan was back there and she talked to Axl cause it only showed how much Axl cared.

2 of my posts at your forum were deleted (BY ACCIDENT OFCOURSE, how convenient...) and after your lovely admin answered the thread got locked, how convenient again.

She won't believe what I'm sayin and she wants me to believe that all these happened by accident?

No proof was shown by madison that any of this trully happened.

I've shown the same proof that I've shown Madison to November Rain, a member of mygnr, and she believed me.

I've been to 6 shows on this European tour and I've never met a member of mygnr. I've met members of chinesedemocracy.com and members of gnrfrance.net, I've met the Dutchies, Ian of Nightrain magazine and ofcourse members of htgth. So many people from forums that I can't remember them all.

There were big pre-show parties and meetings in Lisbon, Athens and London. I didn't meet one person from mygnr.

In the end and about the acoustic show:

I wasn't invited by the band or GN'R's management or GN'R's crew, neither was Jarmo.

If you have ANY proof AT ALL that I was invited at the acoustic by the band or GN'R's management or GN'R's crew, SHOW IT NOW or shut the fuck up.

what did he do/say? was that about the crowd pushing? if so, it'd be sweet if he was assertive for once. be a bit of a defining moment in for the guy in gnr if thats the case - its usually axl or tommy that call the bullshit.

and to those moaning. i know its easy to call shit on this out of a jealous anger (i too get slightly pissy that new york and london get such attention from axl, but i do understand it). but look on it like this: you're complaining about not getting to see a gnr acoustic show! what the fuck?! just be fucking excited that such seemingly incongruous shit happens with axl these days - good random shit. remember all those barren years? can you imagine complaining about not being able to attend an acoustic show from 1999?! just be fucking happy that this shit is going on. its something to be excited about, even if you are jealous.

"Thanks to Bumblefoot for taking care of things."

what did he do/say? was that about the crowd pushing? if so, it'd be sweet if he was assertive for once. be a bit of a defining moment in for the guy in gnr if thats the case - its usually axl or tommy that call the bullshit.

He put down his guitar, walked into the crowd and pushed them back because people refused to move.

Even after Axl had asked them to move.

Just read on www.newgnr.com that the guy there recorded the whole fuckin show!!!!!!!!  Read his review (linked on main page) and he clearly says:

"oh ya.. did i mention I recorded the whole show, all 1 hour and 16 minutes of it standing 6 inches from axl? It'll live on with me forever! There were 2 real cute girls next to me, if you are around - email me and say hi :)"

Any guesses on who the cute girls were standing by him at the front Cherry  ;)

Shame, i cant really understand that, i mean i dont really see what hes going to get out of it other than a shitload of abuse from the people round here who passionatly hate hoarders, i dont think Axl is ready or even cares about doing a Zepplin kinda live DVD with bootleg footage so why hoard it.

Is he related to Velvet - the VMA guy, they should get together, they seem to have the same policy when it comes to rare stuff! (bad joke)

On a side note, does he have a boot of the 29th Wembely show, i would love to get a copy of that, or do you know anyone who has it?

I dont get it though. He says he is going to sit on it and not sell it?
What does he need it for then? "Special" trades?
If he isnt gonna use it to get the "goodies" from certain traders either, then I dont see the point of keeping it for himself.

Title: Re: The Acoustic Show

How selfish is that? This guy knows how much this show means to people around, and he's deciding to keep it to himself. So that he can either 1) profit off the hard work of other people whilst doing nothing but enjoying a show himself, or 2) use the hard work of other people to add to his perceived status in some notional 'community' of other selfish morons.

Either way he's profiting off GnR for nobody's benefit but his own. I hope the band's management go after him hard the second he tries to make any profit off it.

Added to which, I'm sure he's benefitted from the endeavours of all those who recorded shows on the tour, and generously shared them without making anything for them or getting anything in return. It's selfishness and ingratitude in a pure, naked form.

i think if i recorded the show, id try keep it to myself, would be kinda cool to know i was the only one that had that specific recording. however, i probably wouldnt last long and would want to share it with the GNR fans who werent lucky enough to be there. and i certainly wouldnt brag about not sharing it, thats fucking low.

Title: Re: The Acoustic Show

What really bothers me is that fans bash and complain to someone who privately recorded a gnr show and is not releasing it.
This is a private recording that was made with difficulty, effort and risk, so the person who did it can do what ever he wants with his film.

Why don't you bash GNR who have every show they performed recorded by proffesionals?? Why don't you bash Axl & Gnr management and call them hoarders??
These are the ones who should care about releasing videos? & Audio to the fans...
Not some random dude who happened to risk some things in a show to record it privately...If he releases it fine...If not fine again..I only expect GNR to care about me as a fan,? not some random dude...

Title: Re: The Acoustic Show

Because GnRs Management doesn't brag about having shows. The annoying thing about some hoarders is when they come onto boards and say "I have this show but I'm not trading it or I'm only trading it for somethink rare" in other words us "common" fans will never see it. All that does is piss people off because they are bragging about what they have and what other people don't have.

Like other people have said I'd rather not be told a show has been recorded, then know it's being hoarded for whatever reasons.

First we know that GNR have every show recorded cause we see all the cameras in every concert....But we choose to bash someone who did a private recording..

Second...People come on boards and say that have pictures of concerts, that have the microphone of Axl, that have met tha band backstage, that have been to an acoustic show....So do these people should not say that cause you & i didn't experience it???

Third. In band forums there are sections for private recordings trading....So I see no wrong when someone you decide to call "Hoarder" says that he did a private recording and wants to trade it. That is why this section exists in the first place...so if you can't stand the fact someone has a show, that you don't then close your ears and your eyes and don't visit the trading sections & threads.

EXACTLY

If I had it I would be bursting and what is the point of having something only you can see? ?Would it make you feel important in some way? ?And if so, to who?

What is his point bragging he has it? ?So he feels important on GNR forums and get people to try to kiss his behind to get a copy?

He isn't offering it for trade for what I can see so again, I ask, what is the point?

I think the issue people have with hoarders is that they brag about the stuff they have. Stuff they could share with others.

People who meet band members, attend surpise shows etc can't really help others to relive that experience.

This is a private recording that was made with difficulty, effort and risk, so the person who did it can do what ever he wants with his film.

It's because he has no right to it in the first place- it's borderline illegal, and is certainly breaking copyright law so by making any form of profit from it, he's breaking intellectual property law and ethically I have a very hard time justifying bootleggers making anything off somebody else's work.

I don't know what everyones point is but it can simply be some of the following.

- He feels excited...like people who have pictures, microphones, who were fucked by axl, been to an exclusive show...they all say it as part of excitement..
- Also he may say it cause he feels he has achieved something that is risky and just shares his experience with other fans..
- Also he may have been bashed in the past in trading circles and wants to prove to some people that he managed to record a show..

I personally don't care what he does and yes i prefer to know what has been recorded rather than not...cause that gives me the hope that maybe one day if GNR won't release it then maybe someone else will.

When i said he can do what he wants... i didn't mean profiting...trading or keeping it for himself is not profiting..

Also I see thousands of pictures and mobile videos...All of them are "illegal" but no one seems to bother about them...Even people said Axl was posing for pictures and mobile phone videos with no problem.

Here's what I would do If I had this show...

go to one of the big hoarders, trade for something VERY rare. Do the same with a few other hoarders, and then when I feel I have got some really good stuff, I'd release it all to the fans. It'd be like christmas!

It is good to know that it's out there.? Sucks that he isn't willing to release it though.? Or that he plans to sit on it anyway.? A fan recording, private or not, shouldn't be tucked away to do nothing with but watch it yourself.? IMO a fan recording should make it's way out to the fans sooner or later.? Not saying he should give it away for free right away or at all but it should be circulated amongst the fans.?

Are we even certain that this was recorded by this guy though?? From what I read he said that he didn't see any other GNR crew cams but obviously that is not true as we know they are recording everything and people from this board say they remember seeing the cam crew.? So could this guy just be fucking with people?
