Title: How Much has the Euro Tour Cost you.
Post by: spuddy1 on August 04, 2006, 08:53:15 PM
Just wondering how much money, people have spent during the European tour watching GNR eg. fights, accomodation etc. I reckon ive spent a good Grand going to Rock and rio and wembley, but im sure that the likes of Jarmo and the gang can way top that.

I don't wanna think about it....  :hihi:

Instead I like to think that I'm a better person thanks to all the experiences I've had this summer. You can't put a monetary value on that.

jarmo, I don't doubt you for a second.

I would like to hear exactly what ways you think you're a better person because of the experiences you had this summer, though.  It really interests me.

I consider myself a better person after having seen Gn'R three times in NYC, but my reasons are due to personal matters that were more circumstantial than anything else.

Well, seeing your favorite band live eleven times made me a bit happier, that's one thing. ?;)

Then obviously I met all kinds of people at the shows. Many from this board and usually you learn from that kind of experiences too. When you travel and see new places, you also tend to learn things.

Basically thanks to this tour, I've seen places and met people I wouldn't have otherwise.

Only my cost of my ticket (about ?42).

Shame really - if I had more cash I would have also gone to Nottingham and got myself a nice t-shirt.

I really want a tour t-shirt - hopefully they'll be on sale on the net soon  :'(

I've seen them three times: Dublin (the best of all 3), Belgium and the Netherlands. It costed me around 1100 euro. But what I got for it was worth every cent! The only bad memory I have is that I didn't see them more times (wish I could have attended one of the UK shows). But I couldn't get more days off from work...

Holy crap...

But they did the exact same show each time....

That's what annoyed me about the new band - if you've seen them once you've seen them 1000 times - same songs, same solos - virtually zero crowd interaction - 'oh Beautiful in instrumental form....again'

4x Donnington tickets - ?540 (plus lockers ?560)

Petrol - ?100
2x Sheffield tickets - ?75
Petrol - ?125
7x Brimingham tickets - ?262
Rental on People carrier- ?75
Petrol - ?110
5 x T-shirts - ?130

Total - ?1717....thankfully I had a little financial help from the people who went from me (though not nearly enough as they should have paid me!)....totally worth it though (apart from the fact I spent ?20 on a memory card for the Sheffield gig, got some great pics because I was at the front but the data got corrupted. Couldn't get a refund/exchange. Bought another memory card for the Birmingham gig but it was the wrong bloody size! >:()

Well, I got my ticket for free and I live within walking distance from the arena, so my total cost is about 2 euro (a hot chocolate to keep me from freezing to death in the queue...) ;)

I would have paid a lot more though, if I needed to.

Wrong.

Lisbon: Huge show in a big nice park. First show for me.
London: Small famous venue. Electric!
Dublin: Daylight show.
Download: Bad start, great finish.
Stockholm: Great lights +SOS
Oslo: Izzy! Nice setlist.
Birmingham: Bad security.
Nottingham: Asshole in crowd.
London: Covers!
London: Acoustic.
London: Baz saves the day!

Are you going to tell me I saw the same show eleven times?

I didn't even include the people I met before and after the shows. Which makes each show even more special.

Thanks again to everybody who showed up at the bars/pubs and who I met at the venues! It was nice meeting you. :)

Not in the same league as most but,

Dublin - ?50 return flights, ?30 hotel, ?45 ticket, ?20 t-shirt, ?20 food+transport, ?12 train back home from airport

Glasgow - ?30 return flights, ?30 transport,?44 ticket, ?20 beer, luckily free accommodation (gd old folks)

TOTAL=?300 or so

Both gr8 experiences, probably enjoyed Glasgow more as it's my homeland, and the crowd seemed to be all the more nuts! Plus I was down the front and Izzy was there!
Dublin was gr8 as I've never been there before, saw Axl out on time(!), and it was my first GN'R gig. And it was a beautiful day(weather and musically)

Just wondering how much money, people have spent during the European tour watching GNR

well, I watched only one gig, here in Italy, but I spent a lot (relatively): travel from my city to Milan and return (train + car both times), hotel accomodation for two nights, festival ticket, two official GNR shirts, food, beer, drinks (the prices in the festival area were damn high!!)... I didn't make the count.... and I don't want to do!!!!

btw it worth it for sure!!!   :peace:

the rest is just life.
travelling, buying drinks, hotels, that's just life. nothing to do with gnr.

well, it's not GNR fault if I spent those moneys, obviously, btw it's expenses related to the concert: if I'd never went to the concert I'd never had those expenses in those days

With myself husband and two daughters who are 15 and 16 traveling from Seattle to Lisbon for a ten day stay, trip was 10,000.  There was no price I wouldn't have paid to see Axl Rose on stage, and to also have met some very awesome people along the way, whom I have listed earlier on.  An experience that will never be forgotten, something I will always have to hold on to.  It isn't even about the money, and would I do it again? With out a doubt!!!  Axl Rose, I love you nearly as much as my husband, but not quite, you were worth it, see yu in Seattle very soon. :peace:

Not important though now - the band is/has been so unpredictable you just gotta take your chance and see them wherever/whenever you can. Looks and feel more stable now though.
