I would like to go to every NY show myself.    I couldn't make it to MSG...last time he came here....CRIES!!!!!  I was depressed for days....That surely will never happen again....provided he plays MSG or Nassau Colliseum or Jones Beach.. I would go to all three but I have a feeling he will only play MSG.

My biggest regret is that I was too young when the old band toured. Watching the Ritz'88 or some Live from 1991/92/93 is just mind blowing.
Axl and Slash... on the same stage... WOW.

THE Felt Forum , 87, the Ritz 88, Nassua Coliseum 91, All the hammerstein shows  :)

Those are my all time favorites, I woulda said MSG 2002 , or even the 3 I saw in dec 91, but since I have boots of basically all of the shows Ive been to those(the ones I lsit) really are the ones that stand out as great to me.Then again Seeing them in 2002  was amazing , but the band now has relly gelled and the attitude and the way they are attacking the shows now , fills me with much more excitement than 2002.

November 22nd, 2002, Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh, PA. I demanded a ticket as a birthday present and got two.
May 14th, 2006, Hammerstein Ballroom, NY, NY. Took the bus for a combined 17 hours to see this show. A Greyhound COULD be my way, indeed. It was worth it.

alpine valley 91, rosemont horizon 92, hoosierdome 92, iowa 93, hammerstein 06 x2.

all great shows but the edge goes to hammerstein mainly because of the intimacy, being right behind the rail centerstage and the long overdued anticipation of seeing my favorite band of all time.

...so 4?

Good supporting / headlining bands!

I need to ask you this question: What are the differencies between the old shows (old band) and the new ones (new band)?
Could you tell precisely, with details, the way you felt between going to see the old band and the new band? what are the major diferencies? What were the best shows? old band shows? new band shows? and what about each band? (chemistry, exitation, feeling, energy etc...).

Man...I have never see the "new" GNR live. That is why I am so psyched for Las Vegas. I had a ticket to see them when they were going to finish there tour in L.A. in January 2003...but yea, that never happened.

The worst show of the 4, would be the Metallica/GNR one at the colliseum. The crowd was being very odd. All quiet and shit. Axl was really fucking pissed. He stopped the band from playing. He said something like, "What, are you all too fucking stoned or something? I am sorry, didnt realize we had so many Jewish fans, and we shouldnt have played before a jewish holiday." I think it was right before rosh hoshana or that yom kippor. They didnt play very long at all, and Axl was just pissed and wanted the fuck out. But they sure as shit made up for it at the Rose Bowl (I think it was the next day). Played over 3 horus and Axl said Fuck the curfew, I don't want to go home yet. JUst awesome.

The forum was like that too, where they played over 3 hours, and Axl completely lost his voice and didnt give a fuck...that was one of the most raw rock shows ever. He avoided a near riot too. The energy there was amazing. Got home when the sun came up.

The chemistry was obviously awesome. They were a brotherhood. That was there music. And they were the kings of the fucking world. There was GNR and there was everyone else. I am not just talking musically. They were the kings of the industry. And it was great. Axl's headband, kilt and all. Good times. Best shows I ever seen and I have seen a lot of different kinds of concerts.

I cant wait to see the next level.

Thanks for that review. You are psyched because you want to see the new band (I saw them), and I'm psyched because I didn"t see the old one :hihi:
I saw the new band in Paris. it was good. Could have been "great" without all those boring solos (exept Fortus, he did a blues/rock/jazzy guitar solo, fantastic), but anyway, musically they were awesome and they all seem to enjoy the show. However, I would give almost everything to se Axl, Slash and Duff together again... man... Axl, Slash and Duff...wow. I didn't see them back in the days, too young. This is my biggest regret :'(

Yea that is a trip. But you know what man? Its actually really cool that there is this new GNR. Its a different time then it was then. May sound weird but I am glad things are the way they are with GNR. I don't think GNR would be as cool in todays age with the old lineup. On the flip side, I am not sure this GNR would have created the explosion the old lineup did. That was the perfect group for that time. A lot of older groups just can't break through to newer gens. They try and are fake as hell for that. Metallica maybe is the exception but that is a different argument. GNR with this lineup just seems right today. And it will be clearer when their music is out there.

I really am dying to see GNR on the 16th. It will be like the circle is complete. The memories of seeing the original lineup is strong...and it will forever be that control group for which this will be judged. There was an energy there that was ridiculously cool. The dvd for GNR in RAR is great. I have to tell you. Axl seems really happy. I dont remember him ever being this happy when I saw GNR back in the day.

A rantless Axl Rose...never thought Id see it. But there is something so cool about how happy he looks now. He just seems to be having fun now, and its contageous.

I was reading through this thread the other day and I started thinking about my amazing times being a fan of Guns N Roses, who I consider to be the greatest band ever and who also in my opinion have the most awe inspiring frontman there has ever been. So I put together my entire list of my Guns N Roses tour which started back in 1991 and has so far reached Aug 2006! First gig was at sixteen. I thought I had been to see 23 GnR gigs over the years but doing a proper count up I have been to 21. 1992 and 93 were years I will never forget. I spent a lot of time traveling in Europe. Doing a bit of work here and there to pay for train fares and concert tickets! For me the best gig I went to in that time was in Budapest in 1992. The whole experience was amazing and the country was wicked! I met some amazing people through watching the band. My obvious highlight was meeting Axl for about 10 seconds at Milton Keynes in 93. For anyone who has been on this board for a while will know why there is not a photo of this experience, so does Tina Chang at Sanctuary considering how many bloody e-mails I have sent her to try and get another chance to meet Axl and the band! So anyway seeing as this thread has been going a while I just thought I?d put together an itinery of my amazing Guns N Roses tour with a few pics to go! All I want to do now is be able to get to the states and see them play there and I will be quite happy!! Oh and meet Axl Rose again!! P.S To all the people who say that I am too positive about the band. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of Guns N Roses and they are still by far and away the greatest band I have heard or seen and I don?t feel there is anything negative to say about them!! New band and old! Mike

With the old band:
1. Wembley Stadium - August 1991 ? (My first ever Guns Gig, went with a friend and his parents)
2. Wembley Stadium - April or May 1992 (@ Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert)
3. Dublin - May 1992
4. Budapest - May 1992 (my favourite ever Guns gig! Loved Budapest stayed there a few days)
5. Paris - June 1992 (went with my mate Lee a hardcore nirvana fan. He was hooked on Guns after this gig)
6. Wembley Stadium - June 1992
7. Manchester City Football Club - June 1992
8. Newcastle - June 1992
9. Milton Keynes Bowl - May 1993 both nights (one night I got fucking soaked but met Axl Rose!!!)
10. Milton Keynes Bowl - May 1993 both nights (one night I got fucking soaked but met Axl Rose!!!)? ?
11. Vienna - June 1993 ? (brilliant gig, met a stunning girl from Holland as well who I dated for a few weeks.)? ?
12. Germany - June 1993 (was right near the back and had the flu! Shit night! Think it rained too)
13. Italy ? June 1993 (got my first ever tattoo! A GnR one on my right thigh)

9. Milton Keynes Bowl - May 1993 both nights (one night I got fucking soaked but met Axl Rose!!!)

Must this photo forever haunt me........!

You would think when someone points an object with a flashing light in your general direction and people start talking about "a photo" you would look. But no!!

33 - nice to meet you. (If I did) I cant remember.

Jarmo - its your fault for slagging off Derby so much. I was distracted.

I have loads of photos from that meet up which i feel I will have to post somewhere now.
One of you here 33 with Jarmo, Anythinggoes and Graciela on the front and me, Ian, Hollie, Christos and Adz behind. People are looking at the camera? : ok:

To get myself back on topic.

GNR Now 5 times. Cant decide which was the best. Changes daily

I can't remember all the specific dates anymore (I suck!) but in my defense, I've been to over 500 concerts in my life, so you can't blame a guy for forgetting some stuff!!

Anyways....

I saw the old band at the Palace in Aurburn Hills twice between 91 & 93. I caught them in the middle with Metallica and Faith No More at the Silverdome which was just a trip!

I first saw the new band live (this date I know) on November 21, 2002 at the Palace. Then again I caught them this year May 12, 2006 at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Overall if I had to pick one favorite show out of all of them I'd honestly have to say the May 12 show was the best for many, many reasons.

There was a big ass bummer that night RIGHT before the show too which gives me an idea for another thread, but overall the night was just awesome. It was the night that Robin Finck showed me and everyone else just how bad add he was. It was Bbf's first night w/ GNR. It was the first live performance of Better, TWAT & IRS plus new versions of The Blues and Maddy.

Incredible.

Thanks mate!! It was an amazing time! I was very young too only 16-17 at the time but I didnt want to be at home due to having a rather nasty father so I spent a lot of time travelling abroad when I left school and working when I could to earn my money so what better way to do it than follow your favourite band? It was a time I will never forget and I met so many cool people along the way!! Mike

When I saw the title of this thread, it brought back great memories of seeing GNR in my teenage days. The first time was on December 31, 1991 in Miami. It was myself and eight friends bringing in the new year with about 50,000 people. What a concert!!! I had waited around 16 hours in line for tickets switching with friends in shifts. I was third in line and was lucky enough to get floor seats? ;D. With Soundgarden opening it was such a show. I recently found an audio recording of it and was blown away with the many flashbacks of great evening.

The other time was in Orlando in 1992 with Metallica and Faith No More. Words cannot express how cool this show was. Me and a couple of friends drove from Fort Lauderdale to this show. At the time and still to this day, Faith No More was one of my favorite bands. To see them on the Angel Dust tour along with the mighty Metallica and of course GNR was a freaking dream  I remember Axl going off on Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain during this show and from what I remember led to the shit talking on the MTV awards just a few days later.

I sit here looking at the stubs from these shows $19 in Miami & $30 in Orlando with Metallica and FNM :o
It'll cost $15 just to park when I see them in Sunrise on October 24th  One thing I regret is not taking pictures back in the day. It never occured to me that maybe 15 years later I would enjoy looking at them.

Well 26 days and counting until Sunrise : ok:
