Yup, Bruce Willis has signed on for the role of John McLane once again. He said he'd never do another Die Hard, so I guess he's getting paid a healthy sum of money. I'm not too stoked, though, even being a fan of the original films. I have a feeling they are going to fuck it up, espicially since it's been about 10 years since the last.

I think I read somewhere they are thinking of having Willis with a younger supporting cast to bring in people who aren't that familiar with the older movies.  Doing the same thing with the new Rambo movie too (yes, Stallone is making another one).  Pretty dumb to do that if you ask me - let the older guys kick ass on their own.

I think making a 4th film is a terrible idea.  What's annoying is they're blatently gonna get a fiver out of my cause there's no fucking way i'm gonna miss out on a Die Hard film even if I think it's gonna suck.  I heard a rumour that Justin Timberlake is gonna be in it playing John McLane's son - how fucking horrible is that?? :nervous:

Terminator 3 for example, They should have tried harder to get more original cast members. It was just weak all the way through IMO, Too many jokes and not enough style.

I dunno... like... a race of really buff humanoid aliens born with monkey tails who turn into giant King Kong sized apes at the sight of the full moon, and their planet is destroyed by another humanoid alien, but before that happens, one of the baby ape-aliens gets sent to Earth, but when he gets there he hits his head badly and gets amnesia, forgetting all about his home planet... he grows up as a human and makes a bunch of friends, until one day, these two strange men with bad tempers come along and attack him... calling him by a different name and then threatening to destroy Earth if he doesn't prove who he is by killing a thousand humans in a certain amount of time... cue long and rather good fight scene where our hero gets beaten to a pulp and therefore must train in order to defeat these two bad guys... ?aaand I'm too lazy to type the rest! ;D

i'm really excited about this. All die hards were great and i just saw the original again after a long time and i still think its easily one of if not the best action movies ever. They were all great. i hope this one doesnt fuck up the series. it better be good.

i'm a little worried about the story tho from what i've read it doesnt sound too interesting but we'll see.

I been waiting along time for Die Hard 4 to come out. I rember hearing about this like 8 years ago. I loved the frist three die hard movies. They are still great movies to day.

I like Die Hard, cause it's damn straight and upfront action... Not all these kinds of Matrix-effects and slow-motion/bullet-time/backflips in ultra-rapid and all those sort of things we've seen WAY too much of nowadays.

Just hope the fourth one continues with what Bruce does best... Kicking ass without slow-motion.

hey i thought the last Die Hard was great!! Samuel L. Jackson was awesome and i thought it was very entertaining with the usual comic relief.

I really liked the first two, but the third one I found to be watered down and sanitzed, with too much comic relief. If they go for the R rating, this could be great. PG-13. it'll be worthless rehash, like Terminator 3 was.

I hope they do go all out and give it an R rating, as the action genre NEEDS some macho stars like John McLane in a bad way of late. The genre has been hijacked in the last 10 years or so by clean-shaven, castrated, pretty-boy action heros like Matt Damon & Co. - it needs to go back to its tough-guy roots.

die hard 1 and 2 were brilliant, just brilliant.

3 was lame. They made johns character an idiot, and the action was so tame in comparrison.

and i think taking the it to such a large scale setting ,it took away that feel that john was trapped in a small place with alot of people to kill and alot of people to protect.

i agree that it is cool when john is trapped in?a small place etc. but if die hard 3 was like that it would have been a rehash of the first two. at least it brought in somethign fresh. i thought it was great.

But they could have done so much more, it was so tame compared to 1 and 2.

Yeah like everyone else 1-2 were the best die hard films for sure but number 3 was still a good film in its own right and worthy of the DH badge, now Lethal Weapon 4 i really liked ok it was not as good as the first two ill 100% agree but it was a lot better than the 3rd one which is the weakest of the series, what you need to think is the first two we that bit grittier as Martin was was still realy gettin over the loss of his wife, but the 4th one things were happier he had a familly (nearly) so it didnt need him being moody and on the edge, the humour in the film works great although leo is a bit over the top, it was a great way for us to say goodbye to them. I dont think they will make another on, in fact ill be dissapointed if they do, even thought ill still go see it

The rating is irrelevant at this point, the script was developed to be a PG-13 movie. It was shot to be a PG-13 movie. It was edited to be a PG-13 movie. Unless they delay the release right now to shoot additional gore and swearing I don't see how it could possibly qualify for a hard R-rating (unless FOX begs for one for marketing purposes.)

i think ur wrong there. i'm pretty sure it was meant to be an R rated movie all along and recently they decided to edit it to pg13 cuz of all the blockbusters coming out this summer.

It's absolutely commonplace that a studio-owned franchise movie is made-to-order, and equally true that certain conditions (such as delivering a theatrical cut which achieves a particular rating) are more likely to be contractual obligations on the part of the producers and director than accidental conveniences. It's not a new development, it's the way things have always been done.

I've seen behind the scenes footage of McClane cursing like crazy and pics of him with blood all over him, so I think it was made as R, especially considering Bruce's reaction to it possibly being edited for a pg-13 rating.

Uh, Bruce's reaction was "I've seen a cut and I think it's better than the original movie." If you read an article which said otherwise then you've been duped. If you mean the article in Vanity Fair then you should see what Willis' reaction to the article was before taking it at face value.

And I'm sure there's plenty of blood and fucks in the can (blood on a shirt isn't as much of an issue as blood squirting from the jugular) awaiting the inevitable "UNCUT! UNRATED! THE VERSION YOU COULDN'T SEE IN THEATERS!" dvd. It's par for the course, as well you know.

its not the end of the world though, casino royale was a great pg-13 action movie so this could still be good.

I'm a little worried.  the action in the 80s die hard was over the top, but that was the standard for the time/genre.  now though, some of the scenes in the commercials make me roll my eyes big time.  when he throws the fire extinquisher down the hallway so he can blow it up to take out the bad guys and then makes a witty one liner "thats going to wake the neighbors" you have to wonder - why didn't he just shoot the guys to begin with! 

bruce willis rules though.  its not like vin diesel is delivering the one liners ala "XXX" -  "I love fresh powder". hahaha

I saw the midnight show...  it was alright. Entertaining. As any other Bruce Willis movie, it would've been good, but as a DIE HARD movie, it just didn't live up to the name. It had some great moments though. :smoking:

i loved it. it delivered. the ending was slightly dissapointing but the whole movie was just non stop action and very funny and entertaining. best movie i've seen this summer. everyone was gasping and laughing and having alot of fun and we all clapped at the end. lol.

It was good.  The story wasn't the best but the action was great and McClane was in top form too, it didn't really suffer from the R-rating except that you're used to seeing McClane dropping fucks, I wouldn't be surprised if they released an R-rated or unrated DVD with some parts that got chopped but I wouldn't say the movie suffered from being PG-13

The Vanity Fair interview I read with Willis said he didn't want to smoke in this film either. Said he didn't want any kid to end up smoking because they saw him light up.

There's actually no set guidelines or numbers like that. It just depends on whoever is rating your film that day. However, it's generally accepted you can get away with three or even four F bombs without being presented in a sexual context and escape an R. Say something like "Fuck me hard" and you'll get an R even if you say nothing else of the sort for the rest of the film.

Anyway, on topic. LFoDH kicks ass. And McClane says a full "MOTHERFUCK--" before the gunshot blows over the "ER." It's a real non-issue.

I watched a bootleg version too late last night. I thought it was very good. Plenty of action still plenty of cursing minus the F bombs. A good number of laughs. Overall i say its at least as good as part two and three maybe even better then part two.

Live Free or Die Hard
Die Hard With a Vengeance

Wow...it's worse than DH2?  That doesn't strike me as promising.

But, clearly, the original is best.  This one looks to have the biggest effects budget (did I see a fighter jet in the previews?) but that doesn't mean it's good...though I hope it is.

I still say its at least equal to Die Hard 2 maybe a bit better IMO.

Die Hard 2 was solid, but the worst of the series IMO.

i loved Die Hard With A Vengeance and i feel Live Free or Die Hard is on par with that movie. i thought both were very good.

okay i saw it last night. My review is . Its totally amazing , much better then the others , it comes in with die hard 1 in my pov . I thought it was totally action packed, and great actors to play the roles, even the villains . Justin long was perfect or the part as well . Great ending to the seriers. or is it. The yippie ki yay although no f word was one of the better ones so in my opinion it goes

I have all the movies so i have seen all of them

Timothy Olyphant was excellent as the villain, Die Hard has always had great villains and he continued the tradition

Yes he was perfect for it , his funny remarks and comments made it great, o ya and just to tell anyone its worth seeing

Die Hard 2 & 3 I always though DH2 was a good solid action film

I thoroughly enjoyed this latest installmet, plenty of wise cracks tons of Action (if a bit too over the top at times)

"i was outta bullets"

Definatly a good way to end the series
