Title: Bassist from The Offspring clears up "Chinese Democracy" controversy Post by: DunkinDave on August 02, 2006, 04:27:33 PM This is from March 2004, but I think it's worth posting since I constantly see people saying that Axl sued Offspring and all sorts of BS to keep them from using "Chinese Democracy" as an album title.

Axl got wind of this and overreacted, having his lawyers send a threatening letter to The Offspring. Axl did this despite the fact that it is not possible to copyright or trademark an album title, and Offspring could have used the title without legal consequence. He said he kept reading in the media that Axl was pissed and was going to sue. Dexter said he never heard from Axl or his lawyers.
