Skid Row started at 19:15. Seb has said that he didn't get to bed till 10am this morning after the acoustic gig. The last sighting of Axl was at 9am  ;D

The show has stopped due to two technical difficulties.

That's the problem.  Whenever someone makes up a rumor, people take it out on Axl for not coming through.  Why do people do that?  I'll never know.

Most of the stuff has actually been relevent to the show, the end of the tour and what happens next. There's been very little nonsense. Either way, you're only causing more with posts like this.

That's one long paternity leave. I know he had a child so time off was important but the whole band has families. He should have been back at this stage particularly for these two triumphant wembley gigs. I dunno, he's the one guy in the band I have always questioned the dedication of. I don't think a month long paternity leave is necessary for any father particulary as the band will have another period after the tour. He should have been been desperate to play in these two gigs. Compared to Bumblefoot who played despite his father having a heart attack, I dunno, I've always had a question mark over Brain's dedication to the band.

No joke I'm afraid. I've done several updates over the last week and this is the report I'm receiving.

Axl is apparently ill after the acoustic set last night and was told not to perform tonight. Apparently he reached half way through Nightrain and couldn't go on. Doctors orders according to Seb so that's why he sang PC so that the crowd could have the full encore.

this is guns n roses and i have been wondering why the hell baz has been on stage so much, i loved him at birmingham when he came on singing irs lol

Guns just ended the last show of their European Tour 2006 and, well, it was a surprise. Sebastian Bach sang the encore while Axl Rose had left the stage. According to Baz, he blew out his voice last night and was asked not to perform today, but he did and had to stop during Nightrain.After a short break, Guns will rock the states!

He has let the whole band down.

Why were they pi$$ing about in clubs until 6 in the morning? Why is he now crying off? This will get the press coverage the tour has failed to get. Kerrang and the daily papers in the UK will love a disaster story like this one.

Yeah I agree with you man. At least he did the gig. Look at Jonathan Davies of Korn: he pulled out of Download at the last minute. Axl showed up and did his best.

It makes me think how difficult a tour can be when someone becomes ill. I saw the Smashing Pumpkins in 2000 and Billy Corgan's throat was fucked. They played for half the normal set time and he was in agony. But what's the solution? Pull out and play the gig some time later or fulfil your obligations when people are waiting?

Oh fuck off, this is no disaster. Axl was sick, and missed one song, out of 20- that's a tiny proportion of the show. The audience there still had a good show, and I'm sure a great time. What more do you want of the man? Blood?

I don't define being "sick" as including staying up until 6am to do another acoustic gig on the eve of the last show.  Yes, three shows in 24 hours will "blow out" one's voice.  But Axl's responsibility was not to his clubbing buddies at 6am, but rather to the 10,000+ paying fans.  You take some rest and perform at the last show.  OR, at a minimum, you come back out on stage, say goodnight like a gentleman, and bow out with an apology.  That's called having some class and sensitivity to the fans -- but why do I bother.

I'm a huge fan of the guy musically, but he consistently acts like an ass with the fans -- and y'all put up with it, time and time again.

Dude, I agree that in RETROSPECT he shouldn't have done that, but Axl didn't have the benefit of hindsight as we do now to make that decision.  He probably thought he could take it vocally.  But, he was wrong.  We're all wrong sometimes.  That doesn't make us "unprofessional".  It makes us human.

I saw Lenny Kravitz on the Are you Gonna Go My way Tour and he played about an hour, they jammed out the songs alot, Lenny said he was sick and had to  cut the show short. He was then later spotted out partying at Paisley Park with Prince till 4AM, yeah he was really sick! Shit happens, it sucks the show wasn't longer tonight but the people who seem really pissed have only themselves to blame, thinking something magical was gonna happen tonight.

For everyone bitching how disappointed they are, I would imagine Axl would be 1,000 x more.  It's a desperate shame that he has missed the opportunity to finish the final UK set, after so many amazing performances, 4 of which I was truly privileged to attend. 

It really isn?t the end of the world though, the important thing is that he gets himself healthy for the US tour and beyond.  I have no doubt we are just at the beginning of what the guys have planned for us

Some people are blowing this into something far larger than required, almost as bad as the lash out reaction the press normally show. Give the guy a break. He is ill and tried to put on a show. By all accounts what he did do during his time on stage tonight was give the fans a kick ass gig. This has been a awesome tour and Axl is back. Celebrate the good that we've had this year and try not to make so much negative stuff out of something minor.

That's too bad that he couldn't do the last song, but Christ it's not the end of the world. He did 99% of a show when he was advised to not do any of it. I don't know if any of those complaining are aware of this but screaming your lungs out for two and a half hours everyday is actually kind of difficult. A shocker, I know. Sometimes singers blow their voices out and feel that they can't possibly go on. Only in the Guns N' Roses world would some comment this way:
Person A: "Dude, Axl blew out his voice on the last song of the set and couldn't do the encore! They told him not to go on before hand but he wanted to give the fans the show they paid for and deserved so he gave it a shot and did great but just fell short in the end."

You should care. Lots of people read the press; casual music fans who will make or break "Chinese Democracy." A few thousand die-hards are not gonna make the CD a hit. They need fans, and the lasting impression that the press is gonna give fans until the next show is that Axl had to skip part of the show for whatever reason.

I am, and none of that stuff, especially stress, can be blamed for hypertension at Axl's age. It's a public misconception. He did absolutely the right thing- treated the fans last night, tried to put on yet another great show tonight, but just couldn't manage the last song. That happens all the time with other bands- look at Korn at download- and mostly they don't try what Axl did tonight.

I think that's likely what happened. I'm sure the man didn't want it to end this way- if he'd put himself through the show, I'm sure he must have felt pretty acutely ill if he couldn't manage the final bow, and a see you next year.

Regardless of why it happened I just hope he gets this drama out of his system before he plans on touring the states because it is just not going to fly over here if he ever plans on being anything more than a carnival act in the future.

He needs to pull it together and anounce a release date and follow through, as the European tour amounted to nothing more than a nostalgia based cash grab. I want to see them be successful, but there needs to be some album info before he can start any type of U.S tour, otherwise he runs the risk of being viewed as a Poison/Motley Crue type nostalgia act. I was really holding out hope that out of 30 some odd European dates we might get some type of update as to what is going on with the album.

The ending to tonight's show seems to be a microcosm of this bands existance. Everytime they build some momentum and get your hopes up some type of incident occurs that takes the wind out of your sales. Disappointing end to an otherwise reasonably successful tour.

First off, we are not owed any update as to the album's status.  Second, this ending is only deeply disappointing if you assess blame, which you obviously are, although unjustly.  You don't know what happened to lead to Axl's health problems, so don't judge.  Getting sick or blowing your vocal cords isn't an "incident".  It falls under the "shit happens" category.

Well just got back and have to say up until the nighttrain there wasnt a hint of a problem, the show was awesome and im really dissapointed, but only from a selfish point of view that the show was cut short and didnt get to see the new songs ect , the only point is that if you drop the ball so many times for silly reasons and then something serious and legit happens people will just be saying shit like "axl left for a roast dinner" or " he had a temper fit again and stormed off" because not matter what people say the press do matter and they will probaly have a field day with this, any way i enjoyed it so fuck em.

That may be the case, but "Shit" seems to happen with this band more than most it seems. Or at the very least, given his history he is rarely afforded the benefit of the doubt. There is no blame to be handed out, just the mere fact that a continuation of the status quo in the states will kill the band's comeback.

We may not be "owed" any update on CD, but by continuing to perform shows with no acknowledgement of the albums existance you lump yourself in with the Poison's and Motley Crue's of the world who tour around to big crowds as a nostalgia act living off past glory. GNR deserve better than this.

So is Axl alright, was it only high blood pressure? I doubt we will ever know the true reason of the high blood pressure but I hope it doesnt turn to anything wrose. The really sad part is this will only be negative feedback that will over shadow, all the positives of this band on this tour. I think the European tour was a success, and allowed this band to grow and bond. I hope we get word soon on CD. Something is going ot have to change to get the "assholes" from the US to accept him. I call some assholes because they are going to want something for them to even accept Axl back. I hope we get word soon on Chinese, because right now its so great, to have the guys back out on stage. As far as shit happening with this band more than most, cancelling tours in part or entirety due to vocal problems seems pretty common to me. ?Axl missed not even two songs on the whole tour.

This was the first leg of what will undoubtedly be a very long tour. ?I think it would be best to be patient and reserve judgement for now.

the only thing that I would put against him would be the acoustic gig he did last night.. I know it was something made out of good will for the fans and all.. but profesionally speaking, he should have put tonight's gig in first plce given that fans who attended today paid for their tickets... this gig was more important than doing an acoustic gig for some lucky fans.. but then again, that's the only thing he should have thought better... and I DO appreciate the fact that he sang all he could while feeling ill today.. that's something to be grateful, he was risking his health while doing it and thanks to this the fans today had only 2 songs missing and not the entire concert :peace:

Here it says excessive (more than three beverages per day) alcohol consumption can cause hypertension.  We all know Axl has downed a lot of beverages this year.  I'm not criticizing Axl, just pointing out a fact.  busngabb is probably right when he says it was self-inflicted.  That doesn't mean I agree with him in trying to assign blame.

I think it was cool what Axl tried to do tonight and he shouldn't be getting ripped apart by fans who are upset they didn't get their big surprise.  Hell, I was looking for that too and I think Axl being ill may have led to us missing something, but so what?  We will just have to wait a bit longer.  It's so easy to criticize with the benefit of hindsight.  Axl probably just took on too much.  A 28-year-old Axl may have been able to pull this off, but not a 44-year-old Axl - that's something he has to learn.  Let's not hang the man for making a mistake, which to his credit he almost ended up salvaging.

Nah, not bog-standard common-or-garden hypertension. Skin redness comes from capillary bed dilation, not arterial pressure; they can be linked in some random syndromes, but I'm not going to start speculating based on some pictures from a club! I don't think there's a link here, anyway.

TBH I think we're best waiting for a press release from Merck- if it is a genuine health problem, we've got more to worry about than the release of an album and should wish Axl all the best.

I bet even money you'd have made that same poll 4 years ago when they were playing The Blues, Maddy, and CD at shows in 02, yet we know little more now than we did then as to whether we will really be seeing an album this year. Past history with this band has shown that just playing new songs means nothing in relation to a CD release being "imminent. For that reason alone it would have been wise to let the public at large know this is really it, and they are really serious this time around.

We got half a set then Axl disappeared - no explanation, and Seb Bach finished Nightrain and Paradise City and then - over!

Axl never even returned - we got some half baked story when the lights came on from the manager - Axl's blood sugar level was too low, but like a hero had fought on!

Ha! Seemed to be doing fine 5 mins earlier when he was tearing about!

...and any gig in which the band dont actually address the crowd...well!

Well I don't know much about DLM, but the data on health issues and treatments once was contained on a website called healthwell.com.  The DLM bought them I guess and incorporated that data on their site.  Far as I can tell it's a great source for information.  So I'm not sure if you want to believe them, but how about all the references used which are quoted at the bottom of the article?

Anyways, my point is that the medical profession often thinks they know everything, when in fact they probably know a fraction of 1% of what there is to know about the human body.  So the conclusion you have reached might be conventional thinking today.  Tomorrow some study could come out that calls all of that into question.  That's all I'm saying...don't want to get too far off topic and lose another karma point.  :nervous:

From what I understand, Axl was not feeling well, possibly even blew out his voice. It has happened to other performers and is not indicative of a larger problem with Axl's abilities today.
