Title: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: parisrocks on August 01, 2006, 10:18:20 AM Most of the particulars, including all of the nominees and the performances, have been announced.
No Guns N' Roses. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: oneAXLinamillion on August 01, 2006, 10:21:53 AM where they kinda annouced in 2002?
Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: bazgnr on August 01, 2006, 10:23:36 AM Given that they were the "surpise act" of the '02 awards (or was it '01), I doubt very much they'll make an appearance without an album or single out. It would be nice, though...
Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: gandra on August 01, 2006, 10:28:31 AM they would be nominated for the best live act!!!
I think "my michelle" from donington is the nest live act in last ten years Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: slashisvr on August 01, 2006, 10:30:50 AM does it matter if they dont perform at the VMA'S? what does the VMA'S matter any how, since when has GNR cared about music awards?

Well, GNR have been a centrepiece of 3 VMAs. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: johnnythunders24 on August 01, 2006, 12:55:16 PM They usually announce live acts piece by piece up until close to the show to build hype

GNR performing at the VMA's this year will have GNR flashing in litterally millions of poeple heads. Think about it dude... 10 million people sitting around watching the VMA's and hearing Better, and TWAT. (just an example). It's perfect publicity for the US tour and for the album. I don't see why they wouldn't do it. I don't see why they wouldn't do it. Because they weren't invited, I'd guess. Even so, the '02 tour fell apart not long after their last VMA appearance. For what it's worth, I'd love to see "Better" played for a television audience, on MTV or not... Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: TrueRock&Roll on August 01, 2006, 04:22:23 PM I think MTV is too focused on emo stuff this year. I'm guessing we'll have an emo band closing the show. Just my guess.

Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: chad_er33 on August 01, 2006, 05:06:16 PM i don't think this is something they would advertise. leave it for a special grand finale like before. imo
Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: Bandita on August 01, 2006, 05:12:03 PM I hope they don't do the VMA's. MTV doesn't even play rock music here in the US, in fact I am unsure they play any music at all anymore since I can't stand to have it on for more than 2 minutes.
I don't want to be at a Guns show with thousands of emo-heads just because they saw them on the VMA's. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: bigbri on August 01, 2006, 05:32:02 PM GNR at the VMAs would be a home run for us, MTV, GNR and casual music fans. Why would anyone not want them to do it? ??? The VMAs are the coolest awards show around. Perfect publicity.
Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: TrueRock&Roll on August 01, 2006, 05:36:38 PM I hope they don't do the VMA's. MTV doesn't even play rock music here in the US, in fact I am unsure they play any music at all anymore since I can't stand to have it on for more than 2 minutes. The only time they actually play music, is between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Just a really sad sad thing if you ask me. Also, MTV2 doesn't show much music either. What the fuck is that? Let's define Music Televsion. It's Music, on television, now if we can get them to put the 2 together. I don't want to be at a Guns show with thousands of emo-heads just because they saw them on the VMA's. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: killingvector on August 01, 2006, 05:37:37 PM Bullet For My Valentine. :nervous: When they opened for GnR, I was wishing for a Bullet For My Skull. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: Eduardo on August 01, 2006, 05:39:51 PM I really hope they don't play it
Do you see any good bands playing this shit nowadays? I don't want GN'R to share the stage with these emo shitbands, I'm sorry Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on August 01, 2006, 05:40:14 PM Maybe someone should have thrown a coin at them! :hihi:
ANYTHING to get them to leave. I hope they don't open in the U.S.. :nervous: Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: Bandita on August 01, 2006, 06:20:02 PM I hope they don't do the VMA's.? MTV doesn't even play rock music here in the US, in fact I am unsure they play any music at all anymore since I can't stand to have it on for more than 2 minutes.? ? The only time they actually play music, is between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m.? Just a really sad sad thing if you ask me.? Also, MTV2 doesn't show much music either.? What the fuck is that?? ?Let's define Music Televsion.? It's Music, on television, now if we can get them to put the 2 together.? I don't want to be at a Guns show with thousands of emo-heads just because they saw them on the VMA's. Get them to put it together and then actually play worthwhile music now that would be a feat. I have to resort to remembering the days when they actually showed videos for the greater part of the day and night and had good shows like Headbangers Ball. I saw something on the VMA's the other day on one of those stupid Entertainment Tonight shows with Justin Timberlake doing announcements for the nominees. All the usual offenders, Madonna and some other nonsense half of which I have never heard of because I have to resort to watching VH1 Classic now. So while it would be good exposure for GNR, is it the exposure we really want for them? Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: Gargh! on August 01, 2006, 08:15:14 PM In the end it boils down publicity for the album and tour vs. sharing the band we love with emo kids.
For what it's worth, GnR will have no trouble selling out their tour if they drop the album on us. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: Lucky on August 01, 2006, 08:18:36 PM the single wont be out till at least october.
that leaves all the sept. shows unpromoted Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: bigcash2002 on August 01, 2006, 11:13:15 PM I'd love to see GNR as much as the next person, however, I kind of get a laugh out of people saying they should play better and twat....I have to say, I have never seen the VMAs give anyone enough time to play two songs of that length...and for that matter, I'd rather not hear a medly of any kind. Just one solid tune would be great IMO
Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: Eduardo on August 01, 2006, 11:40:41 PM If the album's good, it'll sell
Playing the VMA?s won't change a damn thing Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: GunnerOne 84 on August 01, 2006, 11:59:07 PM I wouldn't be surprised if they did or didn't, it has become such a crap shoot. Though because it's Axl, I'm sure if the release is really close, he will be everywhere.
Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on August 02, 2006, 12:30:08 AM If GnR does play the VMA's it won't be announced, they'll just be there to close the show

Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: benchiefjr on August 02, 2006, 12:47:31 AM because they're better than any other shit they'll plop up there?
Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: fif on August 02, 2006, 01:38:32 AM GNR needs to stay as far away from the VMAs as possible.? I still cringe when I see clips of their last performance at the VMAs.? Even though the band sounds better now I wouldn't want to see a meltdown like that again.?

But I don't see the same happening if they were to do it again even though I am strongly against it. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: HoldenCaulfield on August 02, 2006, 02:20:47 AM If the band opened the show with a "Better"-esque first single, and played that song to hell and back, the world would be abuzz, moreso than in '02. It would be a nice open for the promotion of the US tour. Also, if they were to play, I certainly don't think it would be announced until about a week before the show. Can you imagine the buzz if a week before they announced that Guns N' Roses would open the show with the first single off 'Chinese Democracy'? Amazing...

Release date before the end of August? + VMA's on 31st August? Just a happy coincidence but you never know! Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: IndiannaRose on August 04, 2006, 01:09:14 PM GNR needs to stay as far away from the VMAs as possible.? Demonstrating the mainstream world the beast that GN'R has become since 2002 would damn and impale the 2002 VMA performance forever. Some people still have that image on their minds as an invalid representation of what GN'R is today.I'm sick of that. A VMA GN'R performance this year would kick these critics in the balls.....hard. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: Megaguns on August 04, 2006, 10:50:36 PM I reckon they will be there. Performing the new single.

I think the safer route would be for GNR to tape a new song for broadcast like they did for the VMA's in 1991 with "Live and Let Die". That way there's no chance that the performance will encounter unexpected technical problems. Title: Re: No VMAs for GN'R (as of yet) Post by: johnnythunders24 on August 05, 2006, 12:07:26 AM they dont have to play the VMA's though...the ratings for the VMA's (around 6-7 million) arent nearly what palying the season premiere of snl would be (15 million+ viewers)....
