Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Hear me out fellow gunners, then tell me what you think. I have been following this web site for months now, it hardly ever changes. (cathousehollywood.com). It is the old cathouse where gnr got its start. Anyway, Rikki (the owner) says he is planning something huge for the 20 year aniversary. When You type in the address today, all it says is 10/10/06. Which, by the way, is a TUESDAY! Do you guys think this has any relationship to gnr, or the album? I know it speculation, but it seems to fit together.

Well I doubt it's an album release date.  Why would we find out about it from a bar's website?  Maybe GN'R will play there.  Then again who knows...it could be Poison or something.

It is not just some bar. Gnr got there start there, and in turn, when the original head bangers ball was on mtv (when it was good) , it was axl who got rikki ratman the job. I dont think we will find out about the release date, but I still think something might be planned for that night.

Ooooh 10/10/06... sounds promising!! I wouldn't be surprised if Gn'R did play there on that date... that place is special for them, so yea, why not eh! ;D

why would axl play a show at bar where he got his start with his OLD band with his NEW band?  doesnt make sense.  i say no.

Yes, children, cell phones used to be that big. Probably got 5 mins of battery life and 20 feet of transmission.

Hmm. I don't see this as such a far fetched theory. Then again, the worldwide announcement would come through Rikki and some conjunction with a has been club from 20 years ago? Of all the possible pathways Axl could choose to anounce something like a release date, he would do this?

Eddie Trunk was something on-the-fly, not a calculated publicity stunt.

It seems this 'announcement' Rikki would have is a band list, but not involving Guns in any way shape or form

Well, if anything the Cathouse would be a cool place to do an LA club show before the US tour. That is far more likely than it having anything to do with the cd release date.

CHINESE DEMOCRACY STARTS NOW!!!! I wonder if Rikki and Axl even communicate anymore? It seems on all the VH1 documentarys that Rikki was always busting Axl's balls, but I guess the media just wants to show that everyone hates Axl. So who really knows the truth.

The fact that he's sort of staring over again, a fresh start, a clean slate, that type of thing.

As has been said its more likely to be a club show.  But stranger things have happened... after all if you asked someone in 1991 if GnR would ever tour with a guy who wore a bucket on his head, or a had a springy keyboard or a guy with a foot guitar they would probably give a strange look.

Still something of a longshot, nontheless.

I am not sure to what extent yet. I have some ideas and of course they do too. Hey maybe VH1...maybe both. Perhaps they will both back out and Ill do a puppet show...

Thanks for updating, but I don't think this insinuates GnR.. I think he's just hyping it up.. As for MTV being there, don't expect live coverage or a concert broadcast or anything, they'll probably just do a 1 minute segment on it during MTV News. (Is there even an MTV News anymore??)

As for "bands we've heard of" hmmmm, Poison, Warrant, Ratt etc... B-listers.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you that it's nothing to get too excited about.? Still, for those who live in the area, it may be worth keeping an eye on developments.

Ok, alittle more towards the long shot... Look at the new T-Shirt they are selling..   Chinese style lettering, and the skull which appeared on only 10 leather jackets that were ever made.. One of them owned by Axl Rose.

If nothing else, I think it's clever marketing by the Cathouse, not that Rikki needs any money of course.

I just think there could be something in this... Dizzy plays the Key Club often will know all the owners there, Axl is friends with Rikki, it's an anniversary that will get media coverage... This could be 2 dude's helping each other out... Sometimes you can forget the $ gain and do something out of friendship.

maybe its a camp freddy type affair - lots of guest artists, likely to include slash, duff, matt, gilby, maybe even izzy...

Well I was in the Cat House About a Month ago and asked the bar man about Axl. He went crazy talking about him, and said they were hoping to get him back in there. The bar man was a manager of some description in there too. Just soo small in there!- would be very little hope of getting a ticket.

dude, poison, ratt and warrant aren't b-listers. those were great bands that sold a bunch of records back in the day. ok, they're aren't gn'r , van halen or motley crue. b-listers are more the pretty boy floyd's, tuff or even LA Guns.

oh, and gn'r didn't start there. it was more at the troubador, roxy or whiskey. it was more of a place where they used to hang out, especially on tuesday nights, and where they recorded the "it's so easy" video in 1989. there's an infamous story about Axl running down the street trying to beat David Bowie up, since he was picking on Erin Everly.

Rikki used to be Duff's roommate, and Axl got him the gig @ mtv. Riki has been doing a radio show, and he's an icon on the hollywood late 80's scene because of the cathouse.
i don't see Axl performing there, but i believe the all star band will be cool - my bets are on names lik Taime Down or Tracii Guns, or maybe Stevie Rachelle since metla sludge has a sticky on it's board for the event.

Yeah thats what i was thinking. It probably will be Camp Freddy along with a load of guests etc, they are ideal for this kind of thing!

Taime co-owned the place when it started and on faster pussycat.com, they have changed it to say october 2006 20th aniversiry. there newsite powerandthegloryhole.com is just about there new album.

I saw them in 87 I think...... ???             Supporting GNR at Rock City in Nottingham.... can't be certain though. If it wasnt there it was at Bristol or Hammersmith.....

Taime Downe is the only original member left in Faster Pussycat. I really recommend going to http://www.myspace.com/fasterpussycat & checking out their new album. Completely new sound...very dark, heavy and industrial

Brent Muscat still has something to do with the band, he just aint involved right now because he has other priorities, ie, a new baby. Think he may be involved in there 20 years thing tho.

I thought Brent or Taime had a falling out w/Rikki Rachtman? Didn't one of them co-own the Cathouse?
