They have released more tickets today.  So if anyone, is still on the fence, and does not want to risk buying tickets from a broker, they can get very good tickets on-line for will call, or at the gate.  They are in the "S" sections, which are handicap accessible.  Hope that some out and about on Sat. night in London can snag these.  Enjoy.

CD 2006, I think dolphin just wanted to say he wished he could fly to hearthrow as fast as possible so that he would see the show with the tix released today.

To the bastards who are attending, enjoy the show to the max.  :D

Not rearly an update but I want to let you know that today is one of my worst days ever.
Me and my family had tickets for todays show and our flight from Germany was cancelled with no option
to get an alternative flight. FUCK!

To those people who sit behind us: You got a free view to the stage now. Have fun!

Rumors of "Something big" being announced today or tomorrow.  It's all speculation though because they're the last two days of the Europe tour.

it will be interesting to see what they play on the last night in wembley as the last date of the european tour because bands generally are quite generous with playing tracks in last nights because they want it to be summat to remember so maybe we will get Rhiad or TWAT

No "disperses in an orderly fashion" ... instead, the whole bands gives them that "British salute" where they'll all pee into bottles and throw it into the crowd and Axl yells "Back at youze, motherfuckers!!!"

And just as the riot is about to start Axl comes out again and say "I kid .... I kid" and then starts the show for real.

Not really his trademark song, they just played a recording of him playing it (On A Night at the Opera) at the end of each show. Trademark song is really Brighton Rock.

"America the Beautiful" and "God Save the Queen" are the same tune with different words. ?So unless Robin was singing along, IMO it was "America the Beautiful"

God Save the Queen is the English (not British) National anthem. Most likely he played that, not the Sex Pistols version.

Wrong way round- it's the British one, not English. That's why at the Olympics, a Scottish athlete will have GSTQ, as will an English one. The England football team really shouldn't use it- Land of Hope and Glory is really taken as the English anthem. This is all way OT, too.

mlewis beats me.
yep pistols one is about england and not the whole britain.

Maybe it was silly q of my part considering the lyrics of the pistols one -"no future for you (to english)"

@agropolus, GB consists of wales, scotland, england and that with N.Ireland is the UK.

FFS people are expressing there opinion on the setlist, normally bands with only 1 album out do covers to build up the setlist and people are just saying it's confusing when they could do somethink from the USI albums.

Stop bitching about people having opinion "we should be happy they showed up" "be happy with what you've got" "don't expect anythink" Fuck that all these people are saying is shut your mouth and sit there and smile with what happens.

It's more annoying hearing people bitching about people have a opinion then it is the persons actual comment.

I guess they'd be cool if they are full versions for sure. I'd really be interested in hearing Axl sing Back In The USSR. The White Album is by far my favorite Beatles album. He could do anything off that and I'd be happy.

Right? Like when Queen played Wembley in 86, they did a bunch of covers, a little medly. Trutti Frutti and Hello Mary Lou, Goodbye Heart, it was fun.

I haven't listened to that album in a long time, but if I remember they did the full versions. They were just bunched together in the middle. Alot of acts do that type of thing.

Led Zep did loads of covers every show too- it's just a way of having fun, cutting loose, and showing respect for your roots.

If you consider Axl Rose "GNR" then Rod Stewart is in GNRs roots. Check back to the first leg of the UYI tour.

I'm not because this is the same old same old of the other shows. No Brian May. No TWAT. No Catcher in the Rye. No new songs we don't know yet. No announcement about official release date of the cd. And no playing or announcing of the fist single. So, I'm not excited about it because like axl once said "it's nothing new to me" and it's not ?

Apparently they are performing a acoustic show at a club in London at 3am this morning.

Not sure how accurate this info is.

that would be cool...somebody get tehre and bring a recorder : ok:

I think Axl said a while ago, in 2001 I think, that CITR won't be in CD, maybe on a second or third album (probably around 2087, considering the way things are going...)

Richard and Dizzy have both said within the last year that it would

There's pretty much no way it'll happen.  They have to play tomorrow, so you can pretty much rule out that they'll be playing all night tonight, and then tomorrow too.  Maybe they'll do a small gig like that after tomorrow night's show.  That would make more sense.

One day to go and europe is completed. Result.! I've been to 3 shows (DONN, Sheff +Man), the best for me easily was MEN. Reading set list tonight reveals lack of new songs or suprises, live in hope, tomorrow ! What has been the best show you've seen in the UK

but if it's a small acustic set, all you'd need is axl on vocals and izzy on guitar :D

:o  Cor blimy! Good luck to jarmo, ag and blueheart, or any one from this board if it's true.

;D They'll play the same set for the rest of the tour

the rest of the tour? :hihi:

The covers do seem special. back in the ussr, sailing and Sway...are these songs what Izzy and axl liked as kids?
difinitely an interesting set.

What about Axl's voice?  Wouldn't it be really bad to play tonight's show, then an acoustic set, then have to go right back out for a couple hours and sing again?  I mean if he can do it, fucking awesome, I just hope it wouldn't hurt his voice in any way.

this show was disappointing. No Brian May. No Catcher in the Rye. No TWAT. No new songs we haven't heard before. No official release date announcement for cd. No playing or announcing of first single. This is why this Wembley show was and still is so disappointing. Axl failed to deliver the goods again. If there's anyone who doesn't see it this way then you are either "naive" "blind" or both. ?

No Brian May. No Catcher in the Rye. No TWAT.

Next show?

No new songs we haven't heard before.

Like Axl would give out any more stuff to be bootlegged prior to CD's release.  Get real.

No official release date announcement for cd. No playing or announcing of first single.

Next show?

This is why this Wembley show was and still is so disappointing. Axl failed to deliver the goods again.

I'm sorry, I thought for him was to perform a set of songs and have a good time with the audience. Guest appearances, unreleased (not to mention unheard) material and various announcements are not mandatory in a rock concert last I checked.

focus on your own life fool. ?don't worry about gnr so much and maybe then when CD does come out you won't have wasted anytime waiting for it because you will be focused on you.
no because im a guns n roses fan. which means i focus on gnr fully. that is what being a gnr fan is all about. if the cd does not come out this year when it looks like it wont i will be shown right and you wrong. i will be right. right as a guns n roses fan.

this show was disappointing. No Brian May. No Catcher in the Rye. No TWAT. No new songs we haven't heard before. No official release date announcement for cd. No playing or announcing of first single. This is why this Wembley show was and still is so disappointing. Axl failed to deliver the goods again. If there's anyone who doesn't see it this way then you are either "naive" "blind" or both.

sorry you view it that way.

you should have just gone to have fun and not worry about new songs or other stuff.

I am sorry but I don't see how anyone can NOT have a good time and fond memory of a GNR gig.  Hell, even a riot and cancelation creates a memory that albeit may not be favorable but later down the line, you realize ...shit, I made history with GNR :hihi:
im even sorrier you view it the way you do. but look i didn't go to this show. im saying this based on the setlist, what happened, and what was said. which was not much on all counts. how can you not worry? there is still no official release date. a single still has not been released. still no playing/announcing of first single at any europe show including tonights at wembley. Brian May was expected but he never showed. Letting down everyone with high expectations to see him on stage perform Catcher with gnr. I can't have a good time because the CD is not out. The single is not out. these things can't be ignored or overlooked. im disappointed in you for turning your eyes to these sad facts. but no, no history was made with gnr because nothing has changed with gnr. since they will be touring in the USA in the fall it looks the cd won't come out again and axl will turn out to be bogus when saying it will come out this year he will look bogus!

being a fan means giving a damm about the band you love and slagging them off isnt the way to do it. Axl wont play all the new songs cause theres a thing called Downloading, as people will upload them and axl would get pissed off, so axl does whats best for the band. Believe in Axl, he will deliver the goods

I have to disagree with you on this point. ?I went to 4 shows at the Hammerstein. Everytime they played a leaked song, the people around me grumbled and groaned and said it was shit because they didn't know it. ?Some didn't even know it was a GNR song. ?

You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine. ?Please don't try to tell me that my opinion is not correct and I will stop saying that I disagree with yours ;)

who cares if people download them? if i was axl i wouldnt because millions will still buy the cd whether it gets fully leaked to the internet or not. since gnr is supposedly the most popular band in the world then it shouldnt matter since based on that popularity millions of people will still buy the album. which means axl should give the fans what they really want finally tomorrow night by playing the whole cd. because that is really what's called "delivering the goods"

I'm torn between what annoys me most about you, but I think I'll settle on the fact that, like many others, you argue with so much conviction that I wonder to myself whether or not, surely, you cannot actually think like this; if you actually are as convinced in your own stance to the extent in which you convey it, then your narrow mindedness in itself tears down your argument!, how can you preach to the already converted of the 'open mind?' Your definitive views on what will happen or how people WILL feel is almost sad, that you can articulate poorly at best, makes me sure that a better man than me would probably feel sorry for you. Me?, I just find you annoying.

i dont see this europe tour as promotion. i see this europe tour as another greatest hits tour with IRS/Better thrown in the mix like the greatest hits tour they had in the USA with madagascar/the blues thrown into the mix. that tour is the same as the 02 tour with more solos and covers which last time i checked aren't new gnr songs we should be hearing instead. if this tour was really promotion then at every show on this tour axl would have played the first single already. but he never has at any of these shows which means this is not a promotional tour it's just another greatest hits tour but europe style like it was for USA style in 2002. there is no promotion here. wheres the promotion? there is none. ?

just got back from gig, this was my last one... Hammersmith, Dublin and tonight, GnR were amazing everytime, Dublin was my favorite because of the outdoor venue and  mosh pit but tonight was brilliant, good to see Izzy and Sailing was classic, only gutter was the no smoking and missed 'Think about You' (whilst smoking in toilet).... Axl still has the best voice in rock and roll!

Can't belive people expect more from a 40 year old, I think his voice is still as good as ever and the new albulm will be fucking amazing, IRS in the encore was class...

Off to bed now as I'm wasted but wanted to share the news.... what a great band.

Do we even know where it's going to be if it happens?
No idea where it is Mandy or how the lottery people were selected. :(

Just back from the show, perhaps I can shed a little light on the lottery selection.  Axl announces from the stage that they are playing two shows tonight, this one and another acoustic set in a club at 3 am.  He said that people had been selected at random from their ticket purchases.  He read out about 10 names from a list he had and then a little later about another 10 names.  These people (plus whoever else they'd booked tickets for, I think) were to go and get a wristband to get them into the club.  The final name he read out, at the end of the show, was for an all expenses paid trip to see the band in September in California.  At least that's the way it sounded to me.

Was a truly great show, by the way.  : ok:

They won't play Catcher

It's not gonna be on CD and it's from sessions years old.

Axl said during the Trunk interview that it would be on the album and Fortus said in an e-mail that he was looking forward to playing the song live.

It was a nice gesture but unfortunately because the show ran past the times that the tubes stopped running, I know that some people left before the end.  Don't know if it was any of those people whose names had been were read out.  Also, selection like this doesn't differentiate between casual observers and fans who've supported the band through thick and thin - but then I guess that's what a lottery is all about, just being lucky.

A press release on this would be so fucking lame. ?They've already had to press release the first acoustic gig. ?Remember this:

"The band ended their New York jaunt with a surprise acoustic performance at The Plumm for actress Rosario Dawson's birthday party. The band's scorching performance, which left the way beyond capacity crowd screaming for more and gasping for air well into the wee hours of the morning, had birthday girl Dawson commenting of Rose: "They've never played all acoustic, this is history in the making, how much does this fucking man rock?!"

this acoustic show is not worth it because it will be more of the same it will be more oldies. Don't u get it? wake up. if this was 1986 i would love an acoustic show. but this is 2006 and the cd is still not out. so i dont care about this acoustic show or that september show. all i care about is axl finally giving the gnr fans what they want THE CD ?

Any time GNR performs I think its a great thing, but if they want to get a positive reaction out of the new songs at concerts, they need to release CD before the US tour.  by positive i mean dancing and singing to the music.

Didn't mean to make it sound like a complaint, sorry for that.  More disappointed than anything.  I'll have seen 14 shows on this tour, come tomorrow, and have travelled a hell of a long way and spent more money than I care to think about supporting GNR.  But, yes, I know it was my choice, and again, I'm not complaining or saying that I should get special treatment because of it, it's just that I'd love to have had the chance to be at the show and felt gutted when the list was read out and my name wasn't there.  Not that I really expected it but was hoping against hope that it might be.  So, although I applaud Axl or whoever thought up the idea, I just hope that the people lucky enough to go really do appreciate it, that's all I meant.

God dammit, how hard is it for Axl to show up at a reasonable hour? The second London gig in a row, he shows up sufficiently late that everyone misses the last trains. (And Wembley is a good 60+ minutes by bus from the centre of London)

I LOVED the music, but the man behind really knows how to act like an inconsiderate prick

On a side note, did anyone else see that 40+ year old woman on titty-cam?

Also, take it from me that NME's review of the gig will be VERY good, given their reporter's gushing praise for him (overheard on the bus ride back into Central London). I think they knew where the secret gig was taking place, but wouldn't tell anyone else... bitches...

Stop moaning about the lateness!!! Nearly 3hrs of a stunning performance. Midnight Mile, Back in the USSR & Sailing. I've seen them 4 times & this was the best yet. Disappointing reaction from the crowd for the new songs but otherwise an amazing gig.

If you don't realise by now that axl never turns up on time then it's your own stupid fault for buying the ticket. I've just paid a 70 quid cab fair but don't give a flying fuck as that concert was outstanding!!!

I'm very impressed with the covers tonight........great selection of songs also..Sway would have done it for me........maybe Back in the USSR was a tribute to poor Sir Paul who's about to lose half of 1.5 billion dollars in his divorce  :P  Either way....doing these covers should prove to the haters that the band is versatile and can click together.  Great stuff.  Kudos Axl and good luck on the acoustic show.  And Welcome to the Jungle acoustically would be interesting to hear......I try to play it acoustically and it just sounds all smooshy.

I really don't understand the people that complains about the setlist and the gig today.. what did you expect? no one ever said Brian May was going to be there, or that they would play new songs, or CITR, or give a release date or anything like that.. you set yourself to dissapointment instead of enjoying what is actually real.. you called us naive, and I think you're the naive one.. who thinks every little rumour is going to became true..

keep dreamin and prepare yourself for more desillusions..

the rest of us choose to enjoy the moment instead of worrying about what might/should happen

the rest of us choose to enjoy the moment instead of worrying about what might/should happen

btw, sounds like an amazing concert tonight uh? and wow what a way to end it with the lottery and the acoustic gig!!! :peace:
I believe a Bumblefoot e-mail was posted that hinted something might happen at one of these two concerts.  I will be pissed if nothing is said tomorrow, i just didn't like the setlist today for the lack of TWAT, Maddy, CD, or even Riyadh.

considering the thing was a mess and clearly wasn't finished, then of course it sucked.  But it has potential.

totally agree with you

i mean, i cannot belive that people still request unheard songs, they arent going to play them until cd come out
or a song leaks and gets massive attention like better twat or irs,

but getting back to what you ve said, you are totally right, people worry too much
i mean the show tonight was a kick ass show, nice stones covers, the classics, izzy guest again
i dont know why people find something always to complain

so any more news on this supposed 3am gig coz if it's happening, it'll be in 20 minutes

25? :-*

Do we even know where it's going to be if it happens?
No idea where it is Mandy or how the lottery people were selected. :(

Just back from the show, perhaps I can shed a little light on the lottery selection.? Axl announces from the stage that they are playing two shows tonight, this one and another acoustic set in a club at 3 am.? He said that people had been selected at random from their ticket purchases.? He read out about 10 names from a list he had and then a little later about another 10 names.? These people (plus whoever else they'd booked tickets for, I think) were to go and get a wristband to get them into the club.? The final name he read out, at the end of the show, was for an all expenses paid trip to see the band in September in California.? At least that's the way it sounded to me.

Was a truly great show, by the way.? : ok:

that is sooo NOT rockstar....

Kudos to bobblehat at mygnr!!!!

I've not posted before so you may not believe the following account of tonight, but it's all true! I was at the Wembley gig tonight and my sister had her name read out by Axl. We were in a state of shock for a few minutes before we got off our arses and went looking for our wristbands. A group of people gathered outside S1 section and lucky us, none of the security people had any idea about an acoustic gig. After much walking around and trying to get info on what we had to do, we were told to watch the rest of the show and then to meet at section N1 when people had left the arena where we would be taken down to the standing area (strangely, most of the people who won were in section S8 and had bought their tickets within the last few days).

The winners had to provide photo ID or they wouldn't be allowed their pass (not wristbands like Axl said). We were then given an envelope with the pass and info on the venue. The show was held at Cuckoo club just off Regents Street, so a group of the winners all went and got a night bus to Regents Street as there were no taxi's to be seen! If any of the people that travelled with me to the show read this, please PM me as you were all so nice and it's a shame we didn't get to see each other after the show. I was the girl who kept making you walk to different bus stops. biggrin.gif

The club was tiny and the show was just amazing. Sebastian Bach was stood next to me for a long time and he was rocking out to I.R.S and handing cigarettes to Axl. The show started about 4:00am and finished at 5:30am. The songs I can remember being played are (not in order):

Knocking On Heaven's Door
Sailing
Welcome To The Jungle
Sweet Child O' Mine
I.R.S
Used To Love Her
Nightrain
You're Crazy
Mr Brownstone
Paradise City
Patience

There were a few more but I am drawing a blank at the moment. The show was fully filmed by the band's crew, so hopefully it will surface at some point. People took loads of photos so they should surface too.

It was a brilliant and surreal night and I am absolutely knackered but very happy and lucky to have been there. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them but don't shout at me if I can't.

P.S No one got a free CD. smile.gif

I was on the railing far stage left- about 15 feet from the wall.  2 things:

1)  At 6.50 PM, Ron came out with a hot blonde (I presume his girlfriend) and about half a dozen cookies.  He gave a cookie to myself and a few others in the front row saying, "Have a cookie courtesy of Guns N' Roses- enjoy the show."  Some didn't know who he was, I and some others did, and we chatted about how great the tour is going, etc.  He was in a very good mood.
2)  During Rocket Queen, there were 6-10 smoking hot girls lined up in the backstage area, all dressed very stripper-like.  The crew had two platforms they started to bring on stage during the song, but after some confusion, the girls were sent back and the crew simply walked from one side of the stage to the other with the platforms as Axl went to talk to Merck on the side.  I assume the plan was for the girls to dance; I couldn't tell what went wrong.

I saw them in NYC, Lisbon, Hammersmith, Donningston, and last night.  Every show gets better- they're more of a true band, they're having fun, and Axl keeps sounding better.

You're so right about the band just getter better with every show and by the way it was great to meet you and chat about NY and Hammersmith etc.  Being a shortie, I really appreciated the way you stopped me getting pushed by the crowd behind - thanks so much for that, you're a star!

Maybe run into you at MSG one dayin the not too distant future.   ;)

I love it when Axl mucks about with the band, like when he got us to chant "Cheer up, Tommy," to him, and then change it to "Cheer up, motherfucker."  I don't know if there was a reason behind it but it sure made him laugh.

Anyway, thanks again - and also to all the other cool people I met (both old and new) in the pub for a pre-show bevy - it was a lot of fun and see you all again tonight.   : ok:

So they came on late. People left before the end of the show because Axl doesn't have a watch. The people who stayed were stranded 10 miles out of London with no trains home. And the band play an acoustic gig somewhere to 40 people? Sounds kind of like the way Prince treats his fans, except that Prince puts out music.

Maybe Axl has too many "yes" men. Someone should let him know that the 10,000 people who come to the gigs don't all live nearby, and some need to go home at a certain time. I wonder how much money in fines Axl has paid because he's repeatedly late. Venue curfews are expensive.

Bring on the Apologists, for whom Axl can do no wrong.

^ I wasn't overly impressed with the lateness last night, but if you're gonna go on late, you need to have the chops to pull it off and put on a great show. Anybody who was at last night's show and says it wasn't great is either lying or has their head up their ass.

I spoke to one of the drivers who were taking them to the Arena and he said they were told Axl would be down at 8. He only came out at 10 pm.

Well they said a new leak came today called  `Love and Laughter' ,isn't it abit of a coincidence that the night after GnR play an acoustic show with a new song being debuted and someone saying it was 3 words long. I think it must be it, although I havn't heard any audio of anythink yet.

Ok, my review! Let me start by saying that i have been to alot of shows and this was by far the best, Axl was on true form as were the rest of the band and guests, everyone seemed to be having a great time and the audience was loving the show!

For people who complain about Axl being late and stranding people at Wembely on our way down to the venue there were notifications on the tube informing everyone that the band were not scheduled to finish until 1:30 and that there would not be any tube transport at that time. There really is no excuse for being stranded, learn how to use nightbusses, granted it took me over 3 hours to get home, via the club that the acoustic set was held in but thats a price im prepared to pay for seeing a truely amazing show.

We missed Bach as 18:00 was a bit to early for us, we got there and managed to catch the begining of Bullet for my Valentine who were basically being laughed at by everyone that was around me. I dont have anything against them its just not my type of music. The atmosphere was pretty electric, the crowed kept themselves entertained by chanting, clapping and then getting a huge mexican wave going round the arena, ive never seen that happen at a concert. 10:30 rolled around and the band were now an hour past their scheduled start time, some of the camera men came out and got a load of the girls in the arena to flash, typical GnR style, then around 10:50 the intro music started and everyone went insane. The sound was pretty good, there didnt seem to be any technical problems at all, Axls voice was pretty low in the mix sometimes but it wasnt really that noticable. The crowed was pretty good aswell, everyone in the seating areas was standing up, they only really sat down during the guitar solos but then picked up with the main songs. There was a secret acoustic show that took place at Caberet in Soho at 3am, tried my hardset to attend but trying to contact people at 2:30am was not happning, from what i heard though it was pretty good. Im not sure if Jarmo went, i ran into the HTGTH crew while coming out of the arena after sticking aroud and talking to some of the crew, they were going back into the arena so no idea what was going on there!

Setlist from what i can remember
Welcome to the Jungle
Its so Easy
Mr Brownstone
Live and Let Die
Robin Solo
Sweet Child o Mine
Knockin on Heavens Door
Better
Dizzy Solo
The Blues
Robin and Richard Beautiful
Think About You
Dont Cry Ron Solo
You Could Be Mine
Livin in The USA (UK) Beatles Cover
Unknown Song with Izzy
We are Sailing Rod Stewart Cover
My Michelle with Baz
November Rain
Rocket Queen
Nighttrain

Paradise City

There really is no excuse for being stranded, learn how to use nightbusses, granted it took me over 3 hours to get home, via the club that the acoustic set was held in but thats a price im prepared to pay for seeing a truely amazing show.

Just because your tube carriage was warned doesn't mean anyone else was. If they actually *planned* to be on stage late, then that's surely 100 times worse than being spontaneously late, as they've made a conscious decision to inconvenience the majority of the crowd. (Who would have been messed around enough as the Metropolitan line was down this weekend)

As for 'learning how to use nightbuses', don't be such a condescending prick.

Do we still not know the full setlist for the surprise show?

Is it confirmed that a new song was played? I doubt it...

Until I see pictures of this acustic gig, I am not believing it.

Every board has that post from bobblehat and she/he mentions a new song played but can't recall what it was?

I just learned to not believe anything unless it's confirmed from management.

Lots of people reported that Axl announced it on stage. I think Axl trumps management- ergo, it happened.

fucking hell!

 ;D

what a fucking setlist - sway just about kills every song ever (bar the gnr, rest of pre-sticky fingers stones, and dylan catalogues obviously). sailing is fucking sweet and ussr is a banging choice. rocket queen getting an airing (which has become far too infrequent, it should be a staple of the set!).
and then another acoustic show!

fucking hell.

as sweet as it is, i am a bit pissed that london (and new york/LA) get such preferential treatment by axl and gnr. i know its to be expected as they are the major hubs for western culture, but still... come to belfast and do that shit! :hihi:

we all knew tonight (the 30th) was going to be a special show. but they'll have their work cut out for them to trumph last night. and... i think they will. it looks likely, to me, we're going to get a release date tonight. (unless something goes wrong and someone fucks up by throwing shit).

Sway is one of my favorite songs of all time. One of the sleaziest/bluesiest riffs ever and killer lyrics. Only Izzy is cool enough to pull that one out. Coincidence that Paul Buckmaster added the strings to Sway on Sticky Fingers. You can't hear them too well unless you have the remastered version. Buckmaster also put killer strings on Moonlight Mile-the album closer on Sticky. Just in case you don't know, Buckmaster put strings on TWAT.

Buckmaster put strings on TWAT.?

ha, thats cool as fuck.
izzy had old stones stalwart nicky hopkins on his majestic come on now inside (which bears no small resemblence to sticky fingers stones). but that link may be ven cooler.

and yea, only izzy is cool enough. he definitely (obviously) brought the stonesier side to the band and its something thats missing in the newer songs. it was actually the first thing that struck my friends and i. you can replace slash, but its harder to replace izzy. unless you're gonna get keef in.

but even without izzy, lyrically it makes a terrific choice of cover for axl.

setlist from acoustic nice enough, though not spectacular. irs would be interesting to hear.

Really, who the fuck are you little twats complaining about the show starting late? ?WTF, this is not the "wine and cheese" symphony-my-shit-don't-stink-tribute-to-WHAM? ?This is fucking dirty, whiskey drinkin, sex-drugs-rock-n-fukcin-gnfr-rocknroll? ?What is this attitude that "conformity" is cool? ?Are you kid's ten years old and scared of mummy? ?Or, are you so young, that you never had a taste of decadence? ?Get a hint--this board is "Here Today Gone to Hell," and GNR's first album is titled "Appetite for Destruction," which is chock full of songs about banging heroin, drinking moonshine, smoking everything under the sun, and then fucking until you get to Paradise City, and then do it again the next day. ?

I don't care about your whiny little asses, and I hope to never read again, on a GNR board, about your mummy wanting to spank you because you had to stay out late at a rock n' roll concert. ?Roll with the punches, and enjoy the nightlife you little wimps. ? I have always felt, the best times in life, begin when the sun goes down! ?GNR are the most dangerous band in the world--they built a world out of anarchy, not an excel spreadsheet and plastic pen guards to protect their freshly starched shirts. ?

I hope they play until 2 in the morning tonight!!! ?Get back to your NSYNC boards, and discuss your man-made idols and early evening shows over threre--where your can stick a watch up your arse and time it.

What a bell end - you sound like the biggest fanboy ever.

You totally missed the point:  this is about GNR, as much as it is Lemmy, the Stones, The Who, Wolfmother, or any Rock band for that matter.   If you want wine and cheese, a seated venue, and the show to start at 8:30 p.m. sharp, then why are you even on a GNR board?  Buy the CD's, and stay at home!  Quit coming on the board after a killer show, and complain about a dirty rock show starting after 10 p.m.  It's simple--either you rock, or you don't!  Go get some milk and cookies, and post on the American Idol board.

Man, some guns fans complain A LOT.

We just found out about the acoustic show, and already people are complaining about the selection process!

Axl just can't win, huh?

Didn't mean to make it sound like a complaint, sorry for that.? More disappointed than anything.? I'll have seen 14 shows on this tour, come tomorrow, and have travelled a hell of a long way and spent more money than I care to think about supporting GNR.? But, yes, I know it was my choice, and again, I'm not complaining or saying that I should get special treatment because of it, it's just that I'd love to have had the chance to be at the show and felt gutted when the list was read out and my name wasn't there.? Not that I really expected it but was hoping against hope that it might be.? So, although I applaud Axl or whoever thought up the idea, I just hope that the people lucky enough to go really do appreciate it, that's all I meant.

Hi, Cyllan, I feel for you and share your feelings, also.

Really, who the fuck are you little twats complaining about the show starting late?  WTF, this is not the "wine and cheese" symphony-my-shit-don't-stink-tribute-to-WHAM?  This is fucking dirty, whiskey drinkin, sex-drugs-rock-n-fukcin-gnfr-rocknroll?  What is this attitude that "conformity" is cool?  Are you kid's ten years old and scared of mummy?  Or, are you so young, that you never had a taste of decadence?  Get a hint--this board is "Here Today Gone to Hell," and GNR's first album is titled "Appetite for Destruction," which is chock full of songs about banging heroin, drinking moonshine, smoking everything under the sun, and then fucking until you get to Paradise City, and then do it again the next day.

I don't care about your whiny little asses, and I hope to never read again, on a GNR board, about your mummy wanting to spank you because you had to stay out late at a rock n' roll concert.  Roll with the punches, and enjoy the nightlife you little wimps.   I have always felt, the best times in life, begin when the sun goes down!  GNR are the most dangerous band in the world--they built a world out of anarchy, not an excel spreadsheet and plastic pen guards to protect their freshly starched shirts.

I hope they play until 2 in the morning tonight!!!  Get back to your NSYNC boards, and discuss your man-made idols and early evening shows over threre--where your can stick a watch up your arse and time it.

"I don't worry about nothing, cause worrying is a waste of my fucking time!!"

Seriously, the "go post on [insert generic pop shit here] board" is old. Clearly you are rocking so hard you're posting on the internet in the middle of the day just like the rest of us. Stop implying you're living some hard-rocking decadent lifestyle, and not just some mark (like too many people here) who can't separate Guns N Roses (the great music) from Axl Rose (the inconsiderate person).

Was it a killer show? Yes. I do not dispute that. However, you must appreciate that when 12,000 people have put money in his pockets you'd think he'd put in a bit more thought on his showtime. Not everyone can afford to spend all night partying - some of us have businesses to run or jobs to go to, children to look after, places to be.

Incidentally, I have also seen Motorhead, the Stones and The Who in recent years. All of them put on killer shows, and they all made it on stage on time. If Lemmy can make stage on time, why can't Axl?

@agropolus, GB consists of wales, scotland, england and that with N.Ireland is the UK.

Thanks for that explanation, I hope I won't forget that now :)
I thought Ireland was part of it too (not only N. Ireland)

Sorry ? Ireland part of what now ? dont be saying that stuff.

If you have something that is so important to do on a Saturday night, maybe you should be taking care of your responsibilities instead of buying tickets to a rock concert. By the way you still haven't answered the question about taking the 24-hour bus home. Apparently the idea is "condescending" to you, but do you understand the concept? Does London have 24-hour buses? Because if you take the night buses, you can get within walking distance of where you are going. It's a pretty simple concept.

Agreed r.e. Saturday night, but what if these responsibilities fall the following morning?

I said that telling me to 'learn to use a night bus' - or words to that effect - was condescending, you fucking dimwit. Did you even read the message? Indeed it is a simple concept, except a 65-minute tube journey translates into a 2h45 bus journey. Meaning that, whereas you could otherwise have expected to be home at 1-ish via tube (had he arrived and finished on time), you end up getting in at 4-ish.

I'm clearly arguing a losing debate against people like you - you just cannot fathom the fact that it's an inconvenience to finish the show so late, whereas I cannot understand the hero worship that blinkers your view of the man. I suppose I should be grateful he even showed up at all.

Right, that's that gripe out of my system. Over and out...

The problem is that London has really shit night transport, because the tube is still running through old Victorian tunnels. So the maintainence has to be done at night, as there aren't parallel tunnels as in New York.

But I had patients to look after the day after I went to Hammersmith, getting home at 5- not that I'm complaining at all. It's a once in 4-year or more opportunity, and as a junior doctor I'm used to extreme sleep deprivation anyway!

Still I was humming "brown sugar, how come you taste so good?" the day before yesterday in the kitchen.  As to the second song however...I completely forgot.

this show was disappointing. ?

Yes but he did play the Blues, IRS and Better. That's three new songs that most of the crowd hadn't heard before. More than what most bands play.

One other thing..the venue lights were on during PC - not sure this is normal, I think the venue had got to the point where enough was enough.

As I said, out come The Apologists. It doesn't matter what time Axl turns up, because it's Axl. Axl can do what he wants, because he's Axl. Axl can come on at 4am, because he's Axl.

Guess What? He LOVES people like you. You put up with whatever he does, and you love it, because it's Axl.  GYAFC - Izzy quit because he was fed up of Axl's laterunning eating any profit the band was making. I'm sure that IF I was in the band, I might very well be fired for thinking that turning up on time is a reasonable thing to do.

Now, whose problem is it that Axl doesn't go on stage until 11pm and doesn't finish until 1.05am? Is it Axl's problem? No. of course not. It's for everyone who paid for a ticket to figure out. Doesn't matter if they chose not to drive, or have babysitters, or want to get home before 3am, or have to go to work in the morning. They can wait and be inconvienienced. Because it's Axl. And what he wants... he gets. And that's why I didn't go see them at Wembley, because if I went, I wouldn't get home until 7am if the show over-ran. Because Axl couldn't be bothered to turn up for a show and doesn't give a shit. The only thing stopping the show starting on time is the band themselves : THEY and NO ONE ELSE is responsible for habitual late-running.

If GNR really were as fucked up whiskey-drinking, drug taking, hooker-banging as you seem to think, they'd all be dead. Either that, or they'd have the constitution of superheroes were only Kryptonite can fell them. (And we all know, it's only Bon Jovi who has the Superman Tattooo... though he should have had his lifesize and on his chest if he was a super as he wants to be.)

Oh, and it's not whiskey in that whiskey bottle : it's a voice treatment so Axl can keep up his distinctive voice.

No doubt someone will say I'm pissed off because Mick Wall's Dad gets more pussy than I do or something, hmm, how very 1991.

Bullshit. I don't live in London. I can get to London and from London fairly easily until midnight. Walking distance home for me, from the very extent of the nightbus is 30 miles. Walking distance? If I don't mind getting home at 2 in the afternoon.

Nighttrain
IRS
Paradise City

Jonx

+ Out To Get me and Patience.

the show was really good... shorter solos, no Robin 2nd Solo etc ... new cover songs.. nice (and really small) audience.

look at the crowd just before GNR :  :-\

Everyone knows that GNR starts late and if public transportation is closing at midnight (which is incredibly lame btw, but that's another story) it might be a good idea to plan ahead, staying at a hotel, a friend's or something, take the night bus, get someone pick ya up - whatever!. If a GNR show is not important enough to endure a few hours waiting and delayed transport home, then don't go. How fuckin' simple can it be?

The show was fuckin great !

Amazing show!

Not gonna write a full review cause i have way too many things to do...

Axl: Sounded great, performed even better..this guy is the best frontman I've ever seen. I have no words really...

The band: Fortus is an amazing guitar player. His solo was the best of all the guitar solos by far.

Stinson: I've seen the band twice on this european leg. Tommy doesn't seem to enjoy the show as much as the others do. At one point, Axl asked the crow to say" Cheer up Tommy" and the crowd obeyed...

Rocket Queen: Axl messed up the intro, he started the first verse singing "I've seen everything imaginable.." bumblefoot was like..."what the hell is going on? The roadies have brought in two large tables before the song started, I thought two girls were gonna put a nice little dance for us, but in the middle of the song, they dragged the tables out again?

The crowd: good crowd, better than Madrid's. In between the opening acts, fans had their 15 minutes of glory (well, 2 seconds). During 10 mins some shots of the fans were shown in the video screens, at one point, a rodie (i guess it was a rodie) said" take them out" and a girl showed her boobs, the camera caught that and 10 or 15 other girls did the same...nice!.

That's about it so far, I'll add some more later.

When they start playing is the concert. Everything else isn't.

Ignatius - Were you and Jarmo at the acoustic gig?  I thought I read at least JARMO was there, but I wasn't postive.

How anyone can complain that they know GNR are LATE EVERY NIGHT, then they go and BUY A TICKET to see that very show they knew would be late, and then have the nerve to COMPLAIN afterwards?

You're basically saying "Yeah, I'm a total jackass who couldn't figure this out before I bought the ticket, and now I'm gonna moan about it"

@#$%Funker

Apologists. Always apologists. It's never Axl's responsibility to turn up on time, is it?

I think whomever suggested a GNR audience should arrive an hour after they've started playing has the right idea.

That's not the point. The point is that if you know they will be late, and it is so inconvenient, then why go? Are you naive/arrogant enough to believe that the show you are at is the one where he will suddenly be on time? I imagine not, so why act surprised when they go on later than you would like?

Trust me, Axl doesn't need your money. Don't go, don't ever go, don't buy the album. Real simple. ;D But, feel free to come to a board and be a whiny bitch anytime you want. :o
