Teens need to be punished by their parents to the max these days.  There's a difference in rebelling and being a whiney twat.  As a kid I was spanked and punished and wasn't allowed to do shit if I got in trouble.   Do kids even get that today?  I mean is taking away your ipod considered punishment?  There are things I look up on my childhood in the early 80s and I remember riding bicycles and going outside and playing and having GI Joe fights.  Do kids even do that shit anymore or do they all just stay inside playing pokeman and listening to Blink 182 and then complain about not being understood?  I'm going to discipline my children with a fierce wrath so they wont' grow up to be pussies.  They'll learn to appreciate things and be children, not 13 year old depressed emo kids worried about cutting their wrist because they feel like no one gets them.

Not all teens are like that. But I do agree with you, CD2006, I am 13 myself and can't stand the ones who want to kill themselves over such trivial matters. They think they're the only person in the world who's ever been dumped, so they test the 911 response time by drinking Draino or some shit. Parents are too weak these days, espicially since there are so many Child Abuse centers the kids threating to call.
The, "If you hit my I'll call the Cops" attitude really sucks, but the Parents are too scared of their own children. But what do I know, right?

I'm 15(almost 16) and neither me or any of my friends act like that.  Maybe that's because i hang out with the smart, intelligent people, but still, you can't just go hating EVERY SINGLE teen.  Maybe you should say you hate the ones that do that, or something.

It's interesting.? The only person I know like what you're describing grew up in a very strict home environment with fucking brutal punishments.? Both her parents beat her, spanked her...whatever, locked her up in a closet for days at a time, drove her hours away from home and then abandoned her by the side of the fucking road.? They even broke her fingers once and refused to take her to the hospital.

And yeah, she cuts herself... alot.? Is terrified of her parents and refuses to go near her old house.? Hates the world and wants to die a good part of the time.? Very sad...

What the hell? Where did this come from?

I dont mind teenagers - they are the adults and leaders of tomorrow. No need to patronise them. I teach them for a living and they arent that bad. Sure literacy is down from the old days but the world changes.

Sounds like you hate emos. What does it bother you what other people choose to do with themselves if it doesnt interfere with you?

That's really sad, and I'd definitely consider that abuse. There is a difference between cold-hearted and atrociously mean actions such as that, and parental dicipline. I know as a teenager my parents were very strict, but it wasn't a matter of beatings or any sort of torture. I wasn't even allowed to go shopping in the city with my friends until I was over 16. I was never even allowed to raise my voice to my parents, and if I did, I would be punished. There was always a small level of fear there, but moreso it was just respect. I think it's severley lacking in todays society and I really cringe when I think of how the next few generations are going to turn out.

years of being a teen myself and just recently a chat convo with some braindead broad who told me she was going to kill herself... like i need that shit in my life... argh! if you wanna kill yourself, do it, don't sit there and tell me about it! i've got enough shit going on...

That's kind of like, you know..... Shooting yourself in the foot a bit, surely? No? But, come on.

One of two possibilites:

possibility the first) you were dating a teen, who is now going to kill herself. To complain in such an indignant way I would assume that you are pushing thirty. In which case....... Get a girl your own age. Unless of course you can't.

possibility the second) you were dating a teen, who is now about to kill herself. If she is only a year or two, or so, younger than yourself then grow up! It sounds like typical sixteen year old syndrome; a lot of them think that they have almost come of age!, being that they can now play the lotter and buy cigarettes!, which in your case would be that great feeling of graduating from teenage life. You know. So you rag on them. Innit.

[though, I just got a new one!] possibility the third) you're a teenager yourself! And if so then that, I am sure that if you look closer then you will find that it is THAT, which is most annoying of all teenagers. They're a pretty self involved lot and, as such, it can seem like they are they only person in the world that's real. A bit of elevation, you know?, like their own attitude and outlook of life is the one that matter, ignorance is in abundance! (there's a contradiction to found in there somewhere) But they're not, I'm not, and you're not much better than a lot of people.

I am no more annoyed by teenagers that want to kill themselves than I am by narrow minded "adults" or the elderly of contempt because we won't conform to their idea of living,(and it isn't anarchy).

narrow minded adult? dating a teen? haha, humour is a nice thing, maybe i shouldn't expect it online... i was just venting, stop fooling yourself into believing you know a thing about my life. and even if i was dating a teenager, that wouldn't be bad at all, presuming she was in her late teens, see i was a teen 3 years ago. regardless, this thread was just venting because i was sick of their constant whining and complaining over "problems" some of us could only wish we had, and the thread wasn't really a laugh-out-loud joke either, it was just me assuming that on a guns n' roses board things wouldn't be taken as serious as on a freud board. good day.

See but that's where you're not understanding what I'm saying.....there's a big difference between discipline and all out assault and torture like locking your kids in a closet or punching them. ?As for spanking....spanking with a belt....just something to get the point across. ?Discipline doesn't mean going closed fist and Rocky Balboaing your kid.....it means that you have to teach your children that by doing wrong they in turn will be punished. ?Spanking with a belt or something on the hiney is perfectly fine. ?Your ass is padded, you'll cry...realize what you did was wrong and get over it. ?Then you make good with your parents and you're good again till you fuck up. ?It's also the job of a good parent to teach their children why they punish them.........not just punish them and walk away. ?I always got the, "Do you know why I spanked you?" speech. ?Then after that all was well. ?
I was raised by my step-father who, now that I look back as an adult, raised me extremely well. ?My real father was/still is a loser who never took care of his two kids. ?He never wanted to be a father....he did the same thing to my half-brother that he did to me.......left when we were young. ?I know get along with my real father, but he's basically like a friend to me. ?He didn't have the balls to raise a kid. ?Some ?parents don't understand that it is their job to teach morals/values and everyday lessons to their children. ?It seems in this day an age all young parents want to do is plop a Blue's Clues DVD in the ole TV and let that develop their children's growth. ?Then the child grows up isolated and feels alone and wonders why the parent hates them....when in reality their parents are just too lazy to really care.

I disagree.? I don't see the big difference in punching your kid and spanking him with a fucking belt.? Punishment doesn't have to be about physical pain.? I've had both sides from my parents.? My mom always believed that hitting kids was wrong.? She was strict and never took any shit from me, but I always respected her.? She always punished me in a way to make me understand why whatever I had done was wrong...  My dad was totally different and thought it was his "job" to beat us whenever we fucked up.? I was terrified of him growing up.? And even when he explained why he was doing it, I never learned anything from the beatings, except not to piss him off.  No respect, just fear.

Actually, that was one of my problems with what you were saying. I'm a teenager. I don't have those problems. Not really, anyway. There are a ton of teenagers on this board, and to the best of my knowledge they're not about to kill themselves any time soon. I guess I'm just not a fan of the generalization.

it was just me assuming that on a guns n' roses board things wouldn't be taken as serious as on a freud board. good day.

Ahh, I see. One of that camp, eh? It's a GNR board. Woo! Though... Axl Rose is probably one of the most serious people that you are ever going to meet in your life, not that you are ever going to meet him in your life. Times change, eh........

stop fooling yourself into believing you know a thing about my life.

Err. My attempt was to understand the situation, not yourself. Read your Freud a bit more closely, I know that I will be..., given that I haven't given it a bash before.

depends.

you see, some teens are attention seeking weak minded fools.

some have parents that lecture them every 5 seconds for no reason and its really annoying which makes us rather angry people but we dont harm ourselves over it (this scenerio would be me)

some teens follow what others do and are wannabe assholes

some think they are 25 and are way too cocky

and some really do have the right to feel suicidal.

I'll be honest, I'm 15 and never have i seen people like that. Parents a lot of them seem uncaring and the kids dont feel encouraged and when a bad turn happens in life they feel they've nothing to turen to when they do. Also kids need to appreciate things a lot more. When my nephew stops playing with toys we bought him, we deprive him of some of them and 3 weeks later when they re-appear he playts with them because they appreciate and we're hoping to continue through to pre-teens.

I think teenagers also fail to realise importance of education.

I really think that you've taken this thing way too seriously.............. (Aha!)

Good day to you, sir.

oh my god..this is so true. parents are scared to punish their kids by spanking them because they threaten to call social services and start a bunch of shit that most parents just cant deal with, and ive also heard emancipate a few times and just laughed, and said the judge will laugh your ass out of that court when you tell him the reason,,,my mom doesnt let me date fuckin drug addicts and drop-outs that hang on the damn street all day, i dont hear that anymore.
